23 Avraam s'a apropiat, şi a zis: ,,Vei nimici Tu oare şi pe cel bun împreună cu cel rău?

24 Poate că în mijlocul cetăţii sînt cincizeci de oameni buni: îi vei nimici oare şi pe ei, şi nu vei ierta locul acela din pricina celor cinci zeci de oameni buni, cari sînt în mijlocul ei?

25 Să omori pe cel bun împreună cu cel rău, aşa ca cel bun să aibă aceeaşi soartă ca cel rău, departe de Tine aşa ceva! Departe de Tine! Cel ce judecă tot pămîntul nu va face oare dreptate?

26 Şi Domnul a zis: ,,Dacă voi găsi în Sodoma cincizeci de oameni buni în mijlocul cetăţii, voi ierta tot locul acela din pricina lor.

27 Avraam a luat din nou cuvîntul, şi a zis: ,,Iată, am îndrăsnit să vorbesc Domnului, eu care nu sînt decît praf şi cenuşă.

28 Poate că din cincizeci de oameni buni vor lipsi cinci: pentru cinci, vei nimici Tu oare toată cetatea? Şi Domnul a zis: ,,N'o voi nimici, dacă voi găsi în ea patruzeci şi cinci de oameni buni.

29 Avraam I -a vorbit mai departe, şi a zis: ,,Poate că se vor găsi în ea numai patruzeci de oameni buni. Şi Domnul a zis: ,,N'o voi nimici pentru cei patruzeci.

30 Avraam a zis: ,,Să nu Te mînii, Doamne, dacă voi mai vorbi. Poate că se vor găsi în ea numai treizeci de oameni buni. Şi Domnul a zis: ,,N'o voi nimici, dacă voi găsi în ea treizeci de oameni buni.

31 Avraam a zis: ,,Iată, am îndrăsnit să vorbesc Domnului. Poate că se vor găsi în ea numai douăzeci de oameni buni. Şi Domnul a zis: ,,N'o voi nimici, pentru cei douăzeci.

32 Avraam a zis: ,,Să nu Te mînii, Doamne, dacă voi mai vorbi numai de data aceasta. Poate că se vor găsi în ea numai zece oameni buni. Şi Domnul a zis: ,,N'o voi nimici, pentru cei zece oameni buni.

33 După ce a isprăvit de vorbit lui Avraam, Domnul a plecat. Şi Avraam s'a întors la locuinţa lui. Cei doi îngeri la Sodoma.

23 And Abraham draweth nigh and saith, Dost Thou also consume righteous with wicked?

24 peradventure there are fifty righteous in the midst of the city; dost Thou also consume, and not bear with the place for the sake of the fifty -- the righteous who [are] in its midst?

25 Far be it from Thee to do according to this thing, to put to death the righteous with the wicked; that it hath been -- as the righteous so the wicked -- far be it from Thee; doth the Judge of all the earth not do justice?

26 And Jehovah saith, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous in the midst of the city, then have I borne with all the place for their sake.

27 And Abraham answereth and saith, Lo, I pray thee, I have willed to speak unto the Lord, and I -- dust and ashes;

28 peradventure there are lacking five of the fifty righteous -- dost Thou destroy for five the whole of the city? and He saith, I destroy [it] not, if I find there forty and five.

29 And he addeth again to speak unto Him and saith, Peradventure there are found there forty? and He saith, I do [it] not, because of the forty.

30 And he saith, Let it not be, I Pray thee, displeasing to the Lord, and I speak: peradventure there are found there thirty? and He saith, I do [it] not, if I find there thirty.

31 And he saith, Lo, I pray thee, I have willed to speak unto the Lord: peradventure there are found there twenty? and He saith, I do not destroy [it], because of the twenty.

32 And he saith, Let it not be, I pray Thee, displeasing to the Lord, and I speak only this time: peradventure there are found there ten? and He saith, I do not destroy [it], because of the ten.

33 And Jehovah goeth on, when He hath finished speaking unto Abraham, and Abraham hath turned back to his place.
