1 耶 和 华 按 着 先 前 的 话 眷 顾 撒 拉 ， 便 照 他 所 说 的 给 撒 拉 成 就 。 2 当 亚 伯 拉 罕 年 老 的 时 候 ， 撒 拉 怀 了 孕 ； 到 　 神 所 说 的 日 期 ， 就 给 亚 伯 拉 罕 生 了 一 个 儿 子 。 3 亚 伯 拉 罕 给 撒 拉 所 生 的 儿 子 起 名 叫 以 撒 。 4 以 撒 生 下 来 第 八 日 ， 亚 伯 拉 罕 照 着 　 神 所 吩 咐 的 ， 给 以 撒 行 了 割 礼 。 5 他 儿 子 以 撒 生 的 时 候 ， 亚 伯 拉 罕 年 一 百 岁 。 6 撒 拉 说 ： 　 神 使 我 喜 笑 ， 凡 听 见 的 必 与 我 一 同 喜 笑 ； 7 又 说 ： 谁 能 预 先 对 亚 伯 拉 罕 说 撒 拉 要 乳 养 婴 孩 呢 ？ 因 为 在 他 年 老 的 时 候 ， 我 给 他 生 了 一 个 儿 子 。 8 孩 子 渐 长 ， 就 断 了 奶 。 以 撒 断 奶 的 日 子 ， 亚 伯 拉 罕 设 摆 丰 盛 的 筵 席 。 9 当 时 ， 撒 拉 看 见 埃 及 人 夏 甲 给 亚 伯 拉 罕 所 生 的 儿 子 戏 笑 ， 10 就 对 亚 伯 拉 罕 说 ： 你 把 这 使 女 和 他 儿 子 赶 出 去 ！ 因 为 这 使 女 的 儿 子 不 可 与 我 的 儿 子 以 撒 一 同 承 受 产 业 。 11 亚 伯 拉 罕 因 他 儿 子 的 缘 故 很 忧 愁 。 12 神 对 亚 伯 拉 罕 说 ： 你 不 必 为 这 童 子 和 你 的 使 女 忧 愁 。 凡 撒 拉 对 你 说 的 话 ， 你 都 该 听 从 ； 因 为 从 以 撒 生 的 ， 纔 要 称 为 你 的 后 裔 。 13 至 于 使 女 的 儿 子 ， 我 也 必 使 他 的 后 裔 成 立 一 国 ， 因 为 他 是 你 所 生 的 。 14 亚 伯 拉 罕 清 早 起 来 ， 拿 饼 和 一 皮 袋 水 ， 给 了 夏 甲 ， 搭 在 他 的 肩 上 ， 又 把 孩 子 交 给 他 ， 打 发 他 走 。 夏 甲 就 走 了 ， 在 别 是 巴 的 旷 野 走 迷 了 路 。 15 皮 袋 的 水 用 尽 了 ， 夏 甲 就 把 孩 子 撇 在 小 树 底 下 ， 16 自 己 走 幵 约 冇 一 箭 之 远 ， 相 对 而 坐 ， 说 ： 我 不 忍 见 孩 子 死 ， 就 相 对 而 坐 ， 放 声 大 哭 。 17 神 听 见 童 子 的 声 音 ； 　 神 的 使 者 从 天 上 呼 叫 夏 甲 说 ： 夏 甲 ， 你 为 何 这 样 呢 ？ 不 要 害 怕 ， 　 神 已 经 听 见 童 子 的 声 音 了 。 18 起 来 ！ 把 童 子 抱 在 怀 ( 原 文 作 手 ) 中 ， 我 必 使 他 的 后 裔 成 为 大 国 。 19 神 使 夏 甲 的 眼 睛 明 亮 ， 他 就 看 见 一 口 水 井 ， 便 去 将 皮 袋 盛 满 了 水 ， 给 童 子 喝 。 20 神 保 佑 童 子 ， 他 就 渐 长 ， 住 在 旷 野 ， 成 了 弓 箭 手 。 21 他 住 在 巴 兰 的 旷 野 ； 他 母 亲 从 埃 及 地 给 他 娶 了 一 个 妻 子 。 22 当 那 时 候 ， 亚 比 米 勒 同 他 军 长 非 各 对 亚 伯 拉 罕 说 ： 凡 你 所 行 的 事 都 冇 　 神 的 保 佑 。 23 我 愿 你 如 今 在 这 里 指 着 　 神 对 我 起 誓 ， 不 要 欺 负 我 与 我 的 儿 子 ， 并 我 的 子 孙 。 我 怎 样 厚 待 了 你 ， 你 也 要 照 样 厚 待 我 与 你 所 寄 居 这 地 的 民 。 24 亚 伯 拉 罕 说 ： 我 情 愿 起 誓 。 25 从 前 ， 亚 比 米 勒 的 仆 人 霸 占 了 一 口 水 井 ， 亚 伯 拉 罕 为 这 事 指 责 亚 比 米 勒 。 26 亚 比 米 勒 说 ： 谁 做 这 事 ， 我 不 知 道 ， 你 也 没 冇 告 诉 我 ， 今 日 我 纔 听 见 了 。 27 亚 伯 拉 罕 把 羊 和 牛 给 了 亚 比 米 勒 ， 二 人 就 彼 此 立 约 。 28 亚 伯 拉 罕 把 七 隻 母 羊 羔 另 放 在 一 处 。 29 亚 比 米 勒 问 亚 伯 拉 罕 说 ： 你 把 这 七 隻 母 羊 羔 另 放 在 一 处 ， 是 甚 么 意 思 呢 ？ 30 他 说 ： 你 要 从 我 手 里 受 这 七 隻 母 羊 羔 ， 作 我 挖 这 口 井 的 證 据 。 31 所 以 他 给 那 地 方 起 名 叫 别 是 巴 ， 因 为 他 们 二 人 在 那 里 起 了 誓 。 ( 别 是 巴 就 是 盟 誓 的 井 的 意 思 ) 32 他 们 在 别 是 巴 立 了 约 ， 亚 比 米 勒 就 同 他 军 长 非 各 起 身 回 非 利 士 地 去 了 。 33 亚 伯 拉 罕 在 别 是 巴 栽 上 一 棵 垂 丝 柳 树 ， 又 在 那 里 求 告 耶 和 华 ― 永 生 神 的 名 。 34 亚 伯 拉 罕 在 非 利 士 人 的 地 寄 居 了 多 日 。

1 And Jehovah hath looked after Sarah as He hath said, and Jehovah doth to Sarah as He hath spoken;2 and Sarah conceiveth, and beareth a son to Abraham, to his old age, at the appointed time that God hath spoken of with him;3 and Abraham calleth the name of his son who is born to him, whom Sarah hath born to him -- Isaac;4 and Abraham circumciseth Isaac his son, [being] a son of eight days, as God hath commanded him.5 And Abraham [is] a son of a hundred years in Isaac his son being born to him,6 and Sarah saith, `God hath made laughter for me; every one who is hearing laugheth for me.`7 She saith also, `Who hath said to Abraham, Sarah hath suckled sons, that I have born a son for his old age?`8 And the lad groweth, and is weaned, and Abraham maketh a great banquet in the day of Isaac`s being weaned;9 and Sarah seeth the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she hath borne to Abraham, mocking,10 and she saith to Abraham, `Cast out this handmaid and her son; for the son of this handmaid hath no possession with my son -- with Isaac.`11 And the thing is very wrong in the eyes of Abraham, for his son`s sake;12 and God saith unto Abraham, `Let it not be wrong in thine eyes because of the youth, and because of thy handmaid: all that Sarah saith unto thee -- hearken to her voice, for in Isaac is a seed called to thee.13 As to the son of the handmaid also, for a nation I set him, because he [is] thy seed.`14 And Abraham riseth early in the morning, and taketh bread, and a bottle of water, and giveth unto Hagar (placing [it] on her shoulder), also the lad, and sendeth her out; and she goeth on, and goeth astray in the wilderness of Beer-Sheba;15 and the water is consumed from the bottle, and she placeth the lad under one of the shrubs.16 And she goeth and sitteth by herself over-against, afar off, about a bow-shot, for she said, `Let me not look on the death of the lad;` and she sitteth over-against, and lifteth up her voice, and weepeth.17 And God heareth the voice of the youth; and the messenger of God calleth unto Hagar from the heavens, and saith to her, `What to thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the youth where he [is];18 rise, lift up the youth, and lay hold on him with thy hand, for for a great nation I set him.`19 And God openeth her eyes, and she seeth a well of water, and she goeth and filleth the bottle [with] water, and causeth the youth to drink;20 and God is with the youth, and he groweth, and dwelleth in the wilderness, and is an archer;21 and he dwelleth in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother taketh for him a wife from the land of Egypt.22 And it cometh to pass at that time that Abimelech speaketh -- Phichol also, head of his host -- unto Abraham, saying, `God [is] with thee in all that thou art doing;23 and now, swear to me by God here: thou dost not lie to me, or to my continuator, or to my successor; according to the kindness which I have done with thee thou dost with me, and with the land in which thou hast sojourned.`24 And Abraham saith, `I -- I do swear.`25 And Abraham reasoned with Abimelech concerning the matter of a well of water which Abimelech`s servants have taken violently away,26 and Abimelech saith, `I have not known who hath done this thing, and even thou didst not declare to me, and I also, I have not heard save to-day.`27 And Abraham taketh sheep and oxen, and giveth to Abimelech, and they make, both of them, a covenant;28 and Abraham setteth seven Lambs of the flock by themselves.29 And Abimelech saith unto Abraham, `What [are] they -- these seven lambs which thou hast set by themselves?`30 And he saith, `For -- the seven lambs thou dost accept from my hand, so that it becometh a witness for me that I have digged this well;`31 therefore hath he called that place `Beer-Sheba,` for there have both of them sworn.32 And they make a covenant in Beer-Sheba, and Abimelech riseth -- Phichol also, head of his host -- and they turn back unto the land of the Philistines;33 and [Abraham] planteth a tamarask in Beer-Sheba, and preacheth there in the name of Jehovah, God age-during;34 and Abraham sojourneth in the land of the Philistines many days.
