17 原来希律曾亲自派人去捉拿约翰， 把他捆锁在监里。他这样作， 是为了他弟弟的妻子希罗底的缘故， 因为他娶了希罗底为妻，

18 而约翰曾对希律说： "你占有你兄弟的妻子是不合理的。"

17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife; for he had married her. 18 For John said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife.
