1 关于祭过偶像的食物， 我们晓得我们都有知识。但知识会使人自高自大， 唯有爱心能造就人。 2 如果有人自以为知道些什么， 那么， 他应该知道的， 他还是不知道。 3 如果有人爱 神， 这人是 神所知道的。 4 关于吃祭过偶像的食物， 我们知道世上的偶像算不得什么， 也知道 神只有一位， 没有别的神。 5 虽然有被称为神的， 无论在天上或在地上（就如有许多的"神"许多的"主"）， 6 然而我们只有一位 神， 就是父； 万物都是从他而来， 我们也为了他而活。我们也只有一位主， 就是耶稣基督； 万物都是借着他而有的， 我们也是借着他而有的。 7 不过， 这种知识不是人人都有的。有些人直到现在习惯了拜偶像的事， 因此他们吃的时候， 就把这些食物看作是真的献过给偶像的； 他们的良心既然软弱， 就被污秽了。 8 其实食物不能使我们亲近 神， 我们不吃也无损， 吃也无益。 9 然而你们要谨慎， 免得你们这自由成了软弱的人的绊脚石。 10 因为如果有人看见你这有知识的人， 在偶像的庙里吃饭， 他的良心若是软弱， 他不就放胆去吃那祭过偶像的食物吗？ 11 因此， 基督已经为他死了的那软弱的弟兄， 就因你的知识而灭亡了。 12 你们这样得罪弟兄， 伤了他们软弱的良心， 就是得罪基督了。 13 所以， 如果食物使我的弟兄跌倒， 我就永远不再吃肉， 免得使我的弟兄跌倒了。

1 And concerning the things sacrificed to idols, we have known that we all have knowledge: knowledge puffeth up, but love buildeth up;2 and if any one doth think to know anything, he hath not yet known anything according as it behoveth [him] to know;3 and if any one doth love God, this one hath been known by Him.4 Concerning the eating then of the things sacrificed to idols, we have known that an idol [is] nothing in the world, and that there is no other God except one;5 for even if there are those called gods, whether in heaven, whether upon earth -- as there are gods many and lords many --6 yet to us [is] one God, the Father, of whom [are] the all things, and we to Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom [are] the all things, and we through Him;7 but not in all men [is] the knowledge, and certain with conscience of the idol, till now, as a thing sacrificed to an idol do eat [it], and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.8 But victuals do not commend us to God, for neither if we may eat are we in advance; nor if we may not eat, are we behind;9 but see, lest this privilege of yours may become a stumbling-block to the infirm,10 for if any one may see thee that hast knowledge in an idol`s temple reclining at meat -- shall not his conscience -- he being infirm -- be emboldened to eat the things sacrificed to idols,11 and the brother who is infirm shall perish by thy knowledge, because of whom Christ died?12 and thus sinning in regard to the brethren, and smiting their weak conscience -- in regard to Christ ye sin;13 wherefore, if victuals cause my brother to stumble, I may eat no flesh -- to the age -- that my brother I may not cause to stumble.
