1 Pedro 1

1 Peter, apostle of Jesus Christ, to the sojourners of the dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, 2 elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by sanctification of the Spirit, unto the obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy, has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from among the dead, 4 to an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance, reserved in the heavens for you, 5 who are kept guarded by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

6 Wherein ye exult, for a little while at present, if needed, put to grief by various trials, 7 that the proving of your faith, much more precious than of gold which perishes, though it be proved by fire, be found to praise and glory and honour in the revelation of Jesus Christ: 8 whom, having not seen, ye love; on whom though not now looking, but believing, ye exult with joy unspeakable and filled with the glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

10 Concerning which salvation prophets, who have prophesied of the grace towards you, sought out and searched out; 11 searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ which was in them pointed out, testifying before of the sufferings which belonged to Christ, and the glories after these. 12 To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves but to you they ministered those things, which have now been announced to you by those who have declared to you the glad tidings by theHoly Spirit, sent from heaven, which angels desire to look into.

13 Wherefore, having girded up the loins of your mind, be sober and hope with perfect stedfastness in the grace which will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 as children of obedience, not conformed to your former lusts in your ignorance; 15 but as he who has called you is holy, be ye also holy in all your conversation; 16 because it is written, Be ye holy, for I am holy. 17 And if ye invoke as Father him who, without regard of persons, judges according to the work of each, pass your time of sojourn in fear, 18 knowing that ye have been redeemed, not by corruptible things, as silver or gold, from your vain conversation handed down from your fathers, 19 but by precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, the blood of Christ, 20 foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but who has been manifested at the end of times for your sakes, 21 who by him do believe on God, who has raised him from among the dead and given him glory, that your faith and hope should be in God. 22 Having purified your souls by obedience to the truth to unfeigned brotherly love, love one another out of a pure heart fervently; 23 being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the living and abiding word of God.

24 Because all flesh is as grass, and all its glory as the flower of grass. The grass has withered and its flower has fallen; 25 but the word of the Lord abides for eternity. But this is the word which in the glad tidings is preached to you.

3 Bendito el Dios ✝1.3 2 Co. 1.3. Ef. 1.3.y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que según su grande misericordia ✝1.3 ver. 23. Jn. 3.3.nos ha regenerado en esperanza viva, ✝1.3 cp. 3.21.por la resurrección de Jesucristo de los muertos,

4 Para una herencia incorruptible, y que no puede contaminarse, ni marchitarse, ✝1.4 Mt. 6.20.reservada en los cielos

5 Para nosotros ✝1.5 Jn. 10.28,29.que somos guardados en la virtud de Dios por fe, para alcanzar la salud que está aparejada para ser manifestada en el postrimero tiempo.

6 En lo cual vosotros os alegráis, estando ✝1.6 cp. 5.10.al presente un poco de tiempo afligidos en diversas tentaciones, ✝1.6 Stg. 1.2.si es necesario,

7 Para que ✝1.7 Stg. 1.3.la prueba de vuestra fe, mucho más preciosa que el oro, el cual perece, bien que sea ✝1.7 1 Co. 3.13.probado con fuego, ✝1.7 Ro. 2.7,10.sea hallada en alabanza, gloria y honra, ✝1.7 cp. 4.13.cuando Jesucristo fuere manifestado:

8 Al cual, no habiendo visto, le amáis; ✝1.8 Jn. 20.29.en el cual creyendo, aunque al presente no lo veáis, ✝1.8 Jn. 16.22.os alegráis con gozo inefable y glorificado;

9 ✝ 1.9 He. 10.36. cp. 5.4 Obteniendo el fin de vuestra fe, que es la salud de vuestras almas.

10 De la cual salud ✝1.10 Ro. 1.2.los profetas que profetizaron de la gracia que había de venir á vosotros, han inquirido y diligentemente buscado,

11 Escudriñando cuándo y en qué punto de tiempo significaba ✝1.11 2 P. 1.21.el Espíritu de Cristo que estaba en ellos, el cual prenunciaba ✝1.11 Lc. 24.26.las aflicciones que habían de venir á Cristo, y las glorias después de ellas.

12 A los cuales fué revelado, que no para sí mismos, sino para nosotros administraban las cosas que ahora os son anunciadas de los que os han predicado el evangelio por ✝1.12 Hch. 2.2-4.el Espíritu Santo enviado del cielo; en las cuales desean mirar los ángeles.

13 Por lo cual, ✝1.13 Ef. 6.14.teniendo los lomos de vuestro entendimiento ceñidos, ✝1.13 cp. 4.7 y 5.8.con templanza, esperad perfectamente en la gracia que os es ✝1.13 ver. 7presentada cuando Jesucristo os es manifestado:

14 Como hijos obedientes, ✝1.14 cp. 4.2,3.no conformándoos con los deseos que antes teníais estando ✝1.14 Hch. 17.30. Ef. 4.18.en vuestra ignorancia;

15 Sino como aquel ✝1.15 2 Co. 7.1. 1 Ts. 4.7. 2 P. 3.11.que os ha llamado es santo, sed también vosotros santos en toda ✝1.15 ver. 18. Ga. 1.13.conversación:

16 Porque escrito está: ✝1.16 Lv. 11.44.Sed santos, porque yo soy santo.

17 Y si invocáis por Padre á aquel que ✝1.17 Stg. 2.1.sin acepción de personas juzga según la obra de cada uno, conversad en ✝1.17 cp. 3.15.temor todo el tiempo de vuestra ✝1.17 cp. 2.11.peregrinación:

18 Sabiendo ✝1.18 1 Co. 6.20.que habéis sido rescatados de vuestra vana conversación, la cual ✝1.18 Ga. 3.13 y 4.5.recibisteis de vuestros padres, no con cosas corruptibles, como oro ó plata;

19 Sino con la ✝1.19 Hch. 20.28.sangre preciosa de Cristo, como de ✝1.19 Jn. 1.29.un cordero ✝1.19 He. 9.14.sin mancha y sin contaminación:

20 ✝ 1.20 Hch. 2.23. Ap. 13.8. Ya ordenado de antes de la fundación del mundo, pero manifestado ✝1.20 He. 1.2.en los postrimeros tiempos por amor de vosotros,

21 Que por él creéis á Dios, ✝1.21 Hch. 2.24.el cual le resucitó de los muertos, y ✝1.21 Hch. 3.13. Fil. 2.9.le ha dado gloria, para que vuestra fe y esperanza sea en Dios.

22 Habiendo ✝1.22 Hch. 15.9. Stg. 4.8.purificado vuestras almas en la obediencia de la verdad, por el Espíritu, ✝1.22 He. 13.1. cp. 2.17 y 3.8en caridad hermanable sin fingimiento, amaos unos á otros ✝1.22 1 Ti. 1.5.entrañablemente de corazón puro:

1 Cristo, la piedra angular.

2 Sumisión á la autoridad.

23 ✝ 1.23 ver. 3 Siendo renacidos, no de simiente corruptible, sino de incorruptible, ✝1.23 Stg. 1.18.por la ✝1.23 Hch. 10.36,37.palabra de Dios, ✝1.23 He. 4.12.que vive y permanece para siempre.

24 Porque

✝ 1.24 Is. 40.6,8. Stg. 1.11. Toda carne es como la hierba,

Y toda la gloria del hombre como la flor de la hierba:

Secóse la hierba, y la flor se cayó;

25 ✝ 1.25 Sal. 119.89. Mt. 24.35. Mas la palabra del Señor permanece perpetuamente.

Y esta es la palabra que por el evangelio os ha sido anunciada.
