1 Pedro 4

1 Christ, then, having suffered for us in the flesh, do ye also arm yourselves with the same mind; for he that has suffered in the flesh has done with sin, 2 no longer to live the rest of his time in the flesh to men’s lusts, but to God’s will. 3 For the time past is sufficient for us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, lusts, wine-drinking, revels, drinkings, and unhallowed idolatries.

4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same sink of corruption, speaking injuriously of you; 5 who shall render account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For to this end were the glad tidings preached to the dead also, that they might be judged, as regards men, after the flesh, but live, as regards God, after the Spirit.

7 But the end of all things is drawn nigh: be sober therefore, and be watchful unto prayers; 8 but before all things having fervent love among yourselves, because love covers a multitude of sins; 9 hospitable one to another, without murmuring; 10 each according as he has received a gift, ministering it to one another, as good stewards of the various grace of God. 11 If any one speak — as oracles of God; if any one minister — as of strength which God supplies; that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the might for the ages of ages. Amen.

12 Beloved, take not as strange the fire of persecution which has taken place amongst you for your trial, as if a strange thing was happening to you; 13 but as ye have share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, that in the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exultation. 14 If ye are reproached in the name of Christ, blessed are ye; for the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you: on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.15 Let none of you suffer indeed as murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or as overseer of other people’s matters; 16 but if as a christian, let him not be ashamed, but glorify God in this name. 17 For the time of having the judgment begin from the house of God is come; but if first from us, what shall be the end of those who obey not the glad tidings of God? 18 And if the righteous is difficultly saved, where shall the impious and the sinner appear? 19 Wherefore also let them who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing to a faithful Creator.

3 Porque nos debe bastar que el tiempo pasado de nuestra vida ✝4.3 Ef. 4.17,18,19.hayamos hecho la voluntad de los Gentiles, cuando conversábamos en lascivias, en concupiscencias, en embriagueces, y en abominables ✝4.3 Ga. 5.20.idolatrías.

4 En lo cual les parece cosa extraña que vosotros no corráis con ellos en el mismo desenfrenamiento de disolución, ✝4.4 cp. 3.16.ultrajándoos:

5 Los cuales darán cuenta al que está aparejado ✝4.5 Hch. 10.42.para juzgar los vivos y los muertos.

6 Porque por esto también ✝4.6 cp. 3.19.ha sido predicado el evangelio á los muertos; para que sean juzgados en carne según los hombres, y vivan en espíritu según Dios.

7 Mas ✝4.7 Mt. 24.14. Ro. 13.11.el fin de todas las cosas se acerca: ✝4.7 Mt. 26.41. Lc. 21.36.sed pues templados, y velad en oración.

8 Y sobre todo, ✝4.8 Jn. 13.34.tened entre vosotros ferviente caridad; ✝4.8 Col. 3.14.porque la ✝4.8 Pr. 10.12.caridad cubrirá multitud de pecados.

9 ✝ 4.9 1 Ti. 3.2. Hospedaos los unos á los otros sin murmuraciones.

10 Cada uno ✝4.10 Ro. 12.6.según el don que ha recibido, adminístrelo á los otros, como buenos ✝4.10 Lc. 12.42.dispensadores de las ✝4.10 Dt. 9.29.diferentes gracias de Dios.

11 Si alguno habla, hable conforme á las ✝4.11 Ro. 3.2.palabras de Dios; ✝4.11 Ro. 12.7.si alguno ministra, ministre conforme á la virtud que Dios suministra: para que ✝4.11 1 Co. 10.31.en todas cosas sea Dios glorificado por Jesucristo, ✝4.11 cp. 5.11.al cual es gloria é imperio para siempre jamás. Amén.

12 Carísimos, no os maravilléis cuando sois ✝4.12 cp. 1.7.examinados por fuego, lo cual se hace para vuestra prueba, como si alguna cosa peregrina os aconteciese;

13 Antes bien gozaos ✝4.13 Hch. 5.41.en que ✝4.13 2 Co. 1.5,7.sois participantes de las aflicciones de Cristo; ✝4.13 cp. 1.5-7.para que también en la revelación de su gloria os gocéis en triunfo.

14 Si sois vituperados ✝4.14 Jn. 15.21.en el nombre de Cristo, sois bienaventurados; porque la gloria y el Espíritu de Dios reposan sobre vosotros. Cierto, ✝4.14 cp. 2.12.según ellos, él es blasfemado, mas según vosotros es glorificado.

15 Así que, ninguno de vosotros padezca como homicida, ó ladrón, ó malhechor, ✝4.15 2 Ts. 3.11.o por meterse en negocios ajenos.

16 Pero si alguno padece ✝4.16 Hch. 11.26.como Cristiano, no se avergüence; antes glorifique á Dios en esta parte.

17 Porque es tiempo de que el juicio comience de ✝4.17 He. 10.21.la casa de Dios: y ✝4.17 Ro. 2.9.si primero comienza por nosotros, ¿qué será el fin de aquellos que no obedecen al evangelio de Dios?

18 Y si el justo ✝4.18 Pr. 11.31.con dificultad se salva; ¿á dónde aparecerá el infiel y el pecador?

19 Y por eso los que son afligidos según ✝4.19 ver. 2la voluntad de Dios, ✝4.19 Lc. 23.46.encomiéndenle sus almas, como á fiel Criador, haciendo bien.
