2 Timóteo 1

1 Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ by God’s will, according to promise of life, the life which is in Christ Jesus, 2 to Timotheus, my beloved child: grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord. 3 I am thankful to God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, how unceasingly I have the remembrance of thee in my supplications night and day, 4 earnestly desiring to see thee, remembering thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; 5 calling to mind the unfeigned faith which has been in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that in thee also.

6 For which cause I put thee in mind to rekindle the gift of God which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, and of love, and of wise discretion. 8 Be not therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but suffer evil along with the glad tidings, according to the power of God; 9 who has saved us, and has called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages of time, 10 but has been made manifest now by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has annulled death, and brought to light life and incorruptibility by the glad tidings; 11 to which I have been appointed a herald and apostle and teacher of the nations. 12 For which cause also I suffer these things; but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep for that day the deposit I have entrusted to him. 13 Have an outline of sound words, which words thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 14 Keep, by the Holy Spirit which dwells in us, the good deposit entrusted.

15 Thou knowest this, that all who are in Asia, of whom is Phygellus and Hermogenes, have turned away from me. 16 The Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he has often refreshed me, and has not been ashamed of my chain; 17 but being in Rome sought me out very diligently, and found me — 18 the Lord grant to him to find mercy from the Lord in that day — and how much service he rendered in Ephesus thou knowest best.

3 Doy gracias á Dios, al cual sirvo ✝1.3 Hch. 22.3. Ga. 1.14.desde mis mayores con ✝1.3 Hch. 23.1.limpia conciencia, ✝1.3 1 Ts. 1.2. Flm. 4.de que sin cesar tengo memoria de ti en mis oraciones noche y día;

4 Deseando verte, ✝1.4 cp. 4.9,21.acordándome de tus lágrimas, para ser lleno de gozo;

5 Trayendo ✝1.5 1 Ti. 1.5.a la memoria la fe no fingida que hay en ti, la cual residió primero en tu abuela Loida, y ✝1.5 Hch. 16.1.en tu madre Eunice; y estoy cierto que en ti también.

6 Por lo cual te aconsejo ✝1.6 1 Ti. 4.14.que despiertes el don de Dios, ✝1.6 1 Ti. 1.18.que está en ti por la imposición de mis manos.

7 Porque no nos ha dado Dios el espíritu de temor, ✝1.7 Hch. 1.8.sino el de fortaleza, y de amor, y de ✝1.7 1 Ti. 3.2.templanza.

8 ✝ 1.8 Mr. 8.38. Por tanto no te avergüences ✝1.8 Ap. 1.2.del testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni de mí, preso suyo; ✝1.8 cp. 2.3.antes sé participante de los trabajos del evangelio según la virtud de Dios,

9 Que nos salvó y ✝1.9 Ro. 1.6.llamó con ✝1.9 He. 3.1.vocación santa, ✝1.9 Tit. 3.5.no conforme á nuestras obras, mas ✝1.9 Ro. 8.28.según el intento suyo y ✝1.9 Ro. 3.24.gracia, la cual nos es dada en Cristo Jesús ✝1.9 Tit. 1.2.antes de los tiempos de los siglos,

10 Mas ✝1.10 Ro. 16.25,26.ahora es manifestada por la aparición de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo, ✝1.10 1 Co. 15.26.el cual quitó la muerte, y sacó á la luz la vida y la inmortalidad por el evangelio;

11 Del cual yo soy puesto ✝1.11 1 Ti. 2.7.predicador, y apóstol, y maestro de los Gentiles.

12 Por lo cual ✝1.12 cp. 2.9.asimismo padezco esto: mas ✝1.12 ver. 8no me avergüenzo; ✝1.12 1 P. 4.19.porque yo sé á quien he creído, y estoy cierto que es poderoso para guardar mi depósito ✝1.12 ver. 18|2TI 1:18. cp. 4.8.para aquel día.

13 Retén ✝1.13 cp. 3.14. Tit. 1.9.la forma de las ✝1.13 cp. 2.2.sanas palabras ✝1.13 1 Ti. 1.10.que de mi oíste, ✝1.13 1 Ti. 1.14.en la fe y amor que es en Cristo Jesús.

14 Guarda el buen depósito por el Espíritu Santo ✝1.14 1 Co. 3.16.que habita en nosotros.

15 Ya sabes esto, que me han sido ✝1.15 cp. 4.10,11,16.contrarios todos los que son en Asia, de los cuales son Figello y Hermógenes.

16 Dé el Señor misericordia á la casa ✝1.16 cp. 4.19.de Onesíforo; que muchas veces me refrigeró, y no se avergonzó de ✝1.16 Hch. 28.20.mi cadena:

17 Antes, estando él en Roma, me buscó solícitamente, y me halló.

18 Déle el Señor que halle misericordia cerca del Señor ✝1.18 ver. 12en aquel día. Y cuánto nos ayudó en Efeso, tú lo sabes mejor.
