Zacarias 9

1 The burden of the word of Jehovah, in the land of Hadrach, and on Damascus shall it rest; (for Jehovah hath an eye upon men, and upon all the tribes of Israel;) 2 and also on Hamath which bordereth thereon; on Tyre and Zidon, though she be very wise. 3 And Tyre hath built herself a stronghold, and hath heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets. 4 Behold, the Lord will take possession of her, and he will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire. 5 Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; Gazah also, and she shall be greatly pained; Ekron also, for her expectation shall be put to shame: and the king shall perish from Gazah, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited. 6 And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines; 7 and I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth; but he that remaineth, he also shall belong to our God*GodHebrew: Elohim and shall be as a leader in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite. 8 And I will encamp about my house because of the army, because of those that pass by and that return; and the exactor shall not pass through them any more: for now have I seen it with mine eyes.

9 Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion; shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, thy King cometh to thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly and riding upon an ass, even upon a colt the foal of an ass. 10 And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem; and the battle-bow shall be cut off. And he shall speak peace unto the nations; and his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth. 11 As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant, I will send forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.

12 Turn again to the stronghold, prisoners of hope! even to-day do I declare I will render double unto thee. 13 For I have bent Judah for me, I have filled the bow with Ephraim; and I will raise up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and make thee like the sword of a mighty man. 14 And Jehovah shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning; and the Lord Jehovah will blow the trumpet, and will march with whirlwinds of the south. 15 Jehovah of hosts will defend them; and they shall devour, and shall tread down the sling-stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as from wine; and they shall be filled like a bowl, like the corners of the altar. 16 And Jehovah their God*GodHebrew: Elohim shall save them in that day as the flock of his people; for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up upon his land. 17 For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! Corn shall make the young men flourish, and new wine the maidens.

2 Y también ✝9.2 Jer. 49.23.Hamath tendrá término en ella; ✝9.2 Is. 23.1.Tiro y ✝9.2 Ez. 28.21.Sidón, ✝9.2 Ez. 28.3-5,12.aunque muy sabia sea.

3 Bien que Tiro se edificó fortaleza, y amontonó plata como polvo, y oro como lodo de las calles,

4 He aquí, el Señor la empobrecerá, ✝9.4 Ez. 26.17.y herirá en la mar su fortaleza, y ella será consumida de fuego.

5 Ascalón verá, y temerá; ✝9.5 Sof. 2.4.Gaza también, y se dolerá en gran manera: asimismo Ecrón, porque su esperanza será confundida; y de Gaza perecerá el rey, y Ascalón no será habitada.

6 Y habitará en ✝9.6 Am. 1.8.Asdod un extranjero, y yo talaré la soberbia de los Palestinos:

7 Y quitaré ✝9.7 Lv. 3.17.sus sangres de su boca, y sus abominaciones de sus dientes, y quedarán ellos también para nuestro Dios, y serán como capitanes en Judá, y Ecrón como ✝9.7 Jue. 1.21.el Jebuseo.

8 Y ✝9.8 Sal. 34.7.seré real de ejército á mi casa, á causa ✝9.8 cp. 7.14.del que va y del que viene: y no pasará más sobre ellos ✝9.8 Is. 11.9.angustiador; porque ahora miré con mis ojos.

9 ✝ 9.9 Is. 12.6. Alégrate mucho, ✝9.9 Sof. 3.14.hija de Sión; da voces de júbilo, hija de Jerusalem: ✝9.9 Mt. 21.5.he aquí, ✝9.9 Jer. 23.5. Mi. 5.2.tu rey vendrá á ti, justo y salvador, ✝9.9 Mt. 11.29.humilde, y cabalgando sobre un asno, así sobre un pollino hijo de asna.

10 Y de Ephraim ✝9.10 Os. 1.7.destruiré los carros, y los caballo de Jerusalem; y los arcos de guerra serán quebrados: y hablará ✝9.10 Ef. 2.14.paz á las gentes; y su señorío será ✝9.10 Sal. 72.8.de mar á mar, y desde el río hasta los fines de la tierra.

11 Y tú también por ✝9.11 Ex. 24.8. He. 10.29.la sangre de tu pacto serás salva; yo he sacado tus presos del aljibe en que no hay agua.

12 Tornaos á la fortaleza, oh ✝9.12 Is. 49.9.presos de esperanza: hoy también os ✝9.12 Is. 61.7.anuncio que os daré doblado.

13 Porque entesado he para mí á Judá como arco, henchí á Ephraim; y despertaré tus hijos, oh Sión, contra tus hijos, ✝9.13 Ez. 27.13.oh Grecia, y te pondré como espada de valiente.

14 Y Jehová será visto sobre ellos, y su dardo saldrá como relámpago: y ✝9.14 Is. 18.3.el Señor Jehová tocará trompeta, é irá ✝9.14 Is. 21.1.como torbellinos del austro.

15 Jehová de los ejércitos los amparará, y ellos devorarán, y sujetarán á las piedras de la honda, y beberán y harán estrépido como tomados del vino; y se llenarán como ✝9.15 Ex. 27.3.cuenco, ó como los lados del altar.

16 Y los salvará ✝9.16 Is. 2.11.en aquel día Jehová su Dios como á rebaño de su pueblo: porque ✝9.16 Is. 62.3.serán engrandecidos en ✝9.16 Is. 11.10,12.su tierra como piedras de corona.

17 Porque ¡cuánta es su bondad, y cuánta su hermosura! El trigo alegrará á los mancebos, y el vino á las doncellas.
