Gálatas 5

1 Christ has set us free in freedom; stand fast therefore, and be not held again in a yoke of bondage. 2 Behold, I, Paul, say to you, that if ye are circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 3 And I witness again to every man who is circumcised, that he is debtor to do the whole law. 4 Ye are deprived of all profit from the Christ as separated from him, as many as are justified by law; ye have fallen from grace. 5 For we, by the Spirit, on the principle of faith, await the hope of righteousness. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision has any force, nor uncircumcision; but faith working through love. 7 Ye ran well; who has stopped you that ye should not obey the truth? 8 The persuasibleness is not of him that calls you. 9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump. 10 I have confidence as to you in the Lord, that ye will have no other mind; and he that is troubling you shall bear the guilt of it, whosoever he may be. 11 But I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why am I yet persecuted? Then the scandal of the cross has been done away. 12 I would that they would even cut themselves off who throw you into confusion.

13 For ye have been called to liberty, brethren; only do not turn liberty into an opportunity to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself; 15 but if ye bite and devour one another, see that ye are not consumed one of another. 16 But I say, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall no way fulfil flesh’s lust. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these things are opposed one to the other, that ye should not do those things which ye desire; 18 but if ye are led by the Spirit, ye are not under law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strifes, jealousies, angers, contentions, disputes, schools of opinion, 21 envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revels, and things like these; as to which I tell you beforehand, even as I also have said before, that they who do such things shall not inherit God’s kingdom. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, fidelity, 23 meekness, self-control: against such things there is no law. 24 But they that are of the Christ have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us walk also by the Spirit. 26 Let us not become vain-glorious, provoking one another, envying one another.

3 Y otra vez vuelvo á protestar á todo hombre que se circuncidare, ✝5.3 Ro. 2.25. cp. 3.10que está obligado á hacer toda la ley.

4 Vacíos sois de Cristo ✝5.4 cp. 2.21.los que por la ley os justificáis; ✝5.4 He. 12.15.de la gracia habéis caído.

5 Porque nosotros por el Espíritu ✝5.5 Ro. 8.23,25.esperamos la esperanza de la justicia por la fe.

6 Porque ✝5.6 1 Co. 7.19. cp. 6.15. Col. 3.11.en Cristo Jesús ni la circuncisión vale algo, ni la incircuncisión; sino ✝5.6 1 Ts. 1.3. Stg. 2.18,20,22.la fe que obra por la caridad.

7 Vosotros corríais bien: ✝5.7 cp. 3.1.¿quién os embarazó para no obedecer á la verdad?

8 Esta persuasión no es de ✝5.8 cp. 1.6.aquel que os llama.

9 Un poco de levadura ✝5.9 1 Co. 5.6.leuda toda la masa.

10 Yo confío de vosotros en el Señor, que ninguna otra cosa sentiréis: mas ✝5.10 cp. 1.7.el que os inquieta, llevará el juicio, quienquiera que él sea.

11 Y yo, hermanos, ✝5.11 ver. 3si aun predico la circuncisión, ✝5.11 cp. 4.29 y 6.12.¿por qué padezco persecución todavía? pues que quitado es ✝5.11 1 Co. 1.23.el escándalo de la cruz.

12 Ojalá ✝5.12 cp. 1.8,9.fuesen también cortados los que os inquietan.

13 Porque vosotros, hermanos, ✝5.13 ver. 1a libertad habéis sido llamados; solamente que ✝5.13 1 Co. 8.9. 1 P. 2.16. 2 P. 2.19.no uséis la libertad como ocasión á la carne, sino servíos por amor los unos á los otros.

14 Porque ✝5.14 Mt. 7.12 y 22.40. cp. 6.2toda la ley en aquesta sola palabra se cumple: ✝5.14 Lv. 19.18. Ro. 13.9.Amarás á tu prójimo como á ti mismo.

15 Y si os mordéis y os coméis los unos á los otros, mirad que también no os consumáis los unos á los otros.

2 La cruz de Cristo.

16 Digo pues: ✝5.16 Ro. 8.1,4.Andad en el Espíritu, y no satisfagáis la concupiscencia de la carne.

17 Porque ✝5.17 Ro. 7.23.la carne codicia contra el Espíritu, y el Espíritu contra la carne: y estas cosas se oponen la una á la otra, ✝5.17 Ro. 7.15,19.para que no hagáis lo que quisieres.

18 Mas ✝5.18 Ro. 8.14.si sois guiados del Espíritu, no estáis bajo la ley.

19 Y ✝5.19 1 Co. 3.3. Col. 3.5.manifiestas son las obras de la carne, que son: adulterio, fornicación, inmundicia, disolución,

20 Idolatría, hechicerías, enemistades, pleitos, celos, iras, contiendas, disensiones, herejías,

21 Envidias, homicidios, borracheras, banqueteos, y cosas semejantes á éstas: de las cuales os denuncio, como ya os he anunciado, que ✝5.21 1 Co. 6.9. Ef. 5.5. Col. 3.6. Ap. 22.15.los que hacen tales cosas no heredarán el reino de Dios.

22 Mas ✝5.22 Ef. 5.9.el fruto del Espíritu es: caridad, gozo, paz, tolerancia, ✝5.22 Col. 3.12.benignidad, bondad, fe,

23 Mansedumbre, templanza: ✝5.23 1 Ti. 1.9.contra tales cosas no hay ley.

24 Porque los que son de Cristo, ✝5.24 ver. 16. Ro. 6.6. 1 P. 2.11.han crucificado la carne con los afectos y concupiscencias.

25 ✝ 5.25 Col. 3.5. Si vivimos en el Espíritu, andemos también en el Espíritu.

26 No seamos codiciosos de ✝5.26 Fil. 2.3.vana gloria, irritando los unos á los otros, envidiándose los unos á los otros.
