Mateus 26

1 And it came to pass when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples, 2 Ye know that after two days the passover takes place, and the Son of man is delivered up to be crucified. 3 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people were gathered together to the palace of the high priest who was called Caiaphas, 4 and took counsel together in order that they might seize Jesus by subtlety and kill him; 5 but they said, Not in the feast, that there be not a tumult among the people.

6 But Jesus being in Bethany, in Simon the leper’s house, 7 a woman, having an alabaster flask of very precious ointment, came to him and poured it out upon his head as he lay at table. 8 But the disciples seeing it became indignant, saying, To what end was this waste? 9 for this might have been sold for much and been given to the poor. 10 But Jesus knowing it said to them, Why do ye trouble the woman? for she has wrought a good work toward me. 11 For ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always. 12 For in pouring out this ointment on my body, she has done it for my burying. 13 Verily I say to you, Wheresoever these glad tidings may be preached in the whole world, that also which this woman has done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

14 Then one of the twelve, he who was called Judas Iscariote, went to the chief priests 15 and said, What are ye willing to give me, and I will deliver him up to you? And they appointed to him thirty pieces of silver. 16 And from that time he sought a good opportunity that he might deliver him up.

17 Now on the first day of the feast of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover? 18 And he said, Go into the city unto such a one, and say to him, The Teacher says, My time is near, I will keep the passover in thy house with my disciples. 19 And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them, and they prepared the passover. 20 And when the evening was come he lay down at table with the twelve. 21 And as they were eating he said, Verily I say to you, that one of you shall deliver me up. 22 And being exceedingly grieved they began to say to him, each of them, Is it I, Lord? 23 But he answering said, He that dips his hand with me in the dish, he it is who shall deliver me up. 24 The Son of man goes indeed, according as it is written concerning him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is delivered up; it were good for that man if he had not been born. 25 And Judas, who delivered him up, answering said, Is it I, Rabbi? He says to him, Thou hast said.

26 And as they were eating, Jesus, having taken the bread and blessed, broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat: this is my body. 27 And having taken the cup and given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it. 28 For this is my blood, that of the new covenant, that shed for many for remission of sins. 29 But I say to you, that I will not at all drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in the kingdom of my Father. 30 And having sung a hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives.

31 Then saith Jesus to them, All ye shall be offended in me during this night. For it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. 32 But after that I shall be risen, I will go before you to Galilee. 33 And Peter answering said to him, If all shall be offended in thee, I will never be offended. 34 Jesus said to him, Verily I say to thee, that during this night, before the cock shall crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. 35 Peter says to him, If I should needs die with thee, I will in no wise deny thee. Likewise said all the disciples also.

36 Then Jesus comes with them to a place called Gethsemane, and says to the disciples, Sit here until I go away and pray yonder. 37 And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and deeply depressed. 38 Then he says to them, My soul is very sorrowful even unto death; remain here and watch with me. 39 And going forward a little he fell upon his face, praying and saying, My Father, if it be possible let this cup pass from me; but not as I will, but as thouwilt. 40 And he comes to the disciples and finds them sleeping, and says to Peter, Thus ye have not been able to watch one hour with me? 41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is ready, but the flesh weak. 42 Again going away a second time he prayed saying, My Father, if this cannot pass from me unless I drink it, thy will be done. 43 And coming he found them again sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 And leaving them, he went away again and prayed the third time, saying the same thing. 45 Then he comes to the disciples and says to them, Sleep on now and take your rest; behold, the hour has drawn nigh, and the Son of man is delivered up into the hands of sinners. 46 Arise, let us go; behold, he that delivers me up has drawn nigh.

47 And while he was yet speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great crowd with swords and sticks from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 Now he that delivered him up had given them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, he it is: seize him. 49 And immediately coming up to Jesus he said, Hail, Rabbi, and covered him with kisses. 50 But Jesus said to him, My friend, for what purpose art thou come? Then coming up they laid hands upon Jesus and seized him. 51 And behold, one of those with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and smiting the bondman of the high priest took off his ear. 52 Then saith Jesus to him, Return thy sword to its place; for all who take the sword shall perish by the sword. 53 Or thinkest thou that I cannot now call upon my Father, and he will furnish me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 How then should the scriptures be fulfilled that thus it must be? 55 In that hour Jesus said to the crowds, Are ye come out as against a robber with swords and sticks to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye did not seize me. 56 But all this is come to pass that the scriptures of the prophets may be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him and fled.

57 Now they that had seized Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. 58 And Peter followed him at a distance, even to the palace of the high priest, and entering in sat with the officers to see the end. 59 And the chief priests and the elders and the whole sanhedrim sought false witness against Jesus, so that they might put him to death. 60 And they found none, though many false witnesses came forward. But at the last two false witnesses came forward 61 and said, He said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and in three days build it. 62 And the high priest standing up said to him, Answerest thou nothing? What do these witness against thee? 63 But Jesus was silent. And the high priest answering said to him, I adjure thee by the living God that thou tell us if thou art the Christ the Son of God. 64 Jesus says to him, Thou hast said. Moreover, I say to you, From henceforth ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming on the clouds of heaven. 65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He has blasphemed: what need have we any more of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard the blasphemy. 66 What think ye? And they answering said, He is liable to the penalty of death. 67 Then they spit in his face, and buffeted him, and some struck him with the palms of their hand, 68 saying, Prophesy to us, Christ, Who is it who struck thee?

69 But Peter sat without in the palace-court; and a maid came to him, saying, And thou wast with Jesus the Galilaean. 70 But he denied before all, saying, I do not know what thou sayest. 71 And when he had gone out into the entrance, another maid saw him, and says to those there, This man also was with Jesus the Nazaraean. 72 And again he denied with an oath: I do not know the man. 73 And after a little, those who stood there, coming to him, said to Peter, Truly thou too art of them, for also thy speech makes thee manifest. 74 Then he began to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew. 75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who had said to him, Before the cock crow thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went forth without, and wept bitterly.

1 Y ACONTECIÓ que, como hubo acabado Jesús todas estas palabras, dijo á sus discípulos:

2 Sabéis ✝26.2 Mr. 14.1,2. Lc. 22.1,2. Jn. 11.55 y 13.1.que dentro de dos días se hace la pascua, y el Hijo del hombre es entregado para ser crucificado.

3 Entonces los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los escribas, y los ancianos del pueblo se juntaron al ✝26.3 Mr. 14.54. Jn. 18.15.patio del pontífice, el cual se llamaba ✝26.3 Lc. 3.2. Jn. 11.49.Caifás;

4 Y tuvieron consejo para prender por engaño á Jesús, y matarle.

5 Y decían: No en el día de la fiesta, porque no se haga alboroto en el pueblo.

6 ✝ 26.6 Mr. 14.3-9. Lc. 7.36-50. Jn. 12.1-8. Y estando Jesús en ✝26.6 cp. 21.17.Bethania, en casa de Simón el leproso,

7 Vino á él una mujer, teniendo un vaso de alabastro de ungüento de gran precio, y lo derramó sobre la cabeza de él, estando sentado á la mesa.

8 Lo cual viendo sus discípulos, ✝26.8 Jn. 12.4.se enojaron, diciendo: ¿Por qué se pierde esto?

9 Porque esto se podía vender por ✝26.9 Mr. 14.5. Jn. 12.5.gran precio, y darse á los pobres.

10 Y entendiéndolo Jesús, les dijo: ¿Por qué dais pena á esta mujer? Pues ha hecho conmigo buena obra.

11 Porque siempre tendréis pobres con vosotros, mas á mí no siempre me tendréis.

12 Porque echando este ungüento sobre mi cuerpo, para ✝26.12 Jn. 19.40.sepultarme lo ha hecho.

13 De cierto os digo, que donde quiera que este evangelio fuere predicado en todo el mundo, también será dicho para memoria de ella, lo que ésta ha hecho.

14 ✝ 26.14 Mr. 14.10,11. Lc. 22.3-6. Entonces uno de los doce, que se llamaba ✝26.14 cp. 10.4 y 27.3.Judas Iscariote, fué á los príncipes de los sacerdotes,

15 Y les dijo: ✝26.15 cp. 27.3.¿Qué me queréis dar, y yo os lo entregaré? Y ellos le señalaron ✝26.15 Ex. 21.32.treinta piezas de plata.

16 Y desde entonces buscaba oportunidad para entregarle.

2 Jesús en Gethsemaní.

17 ✝ 26.17 Mr. 14.12-16. Lc. 22.7-13. Y el ✝26.17 Ex. 12.6,18.primer día de la fiesta de los panes sin levadura, vinieron los discípulos á Jesús, diciéndole: ¿Dónde quieres que aderecemos para ti para comer la pascua?

18 Y él dijo: Id á la ciudad ✝26.18 Mr. 14.13.a cierto hombre, y decidle: ✝26.18 Jn. 11.28.El Maestro dice: ✝26.18 Jn. 7.6,8.Mi tiempo está cerca; en tu casa haré la pascua con mis discípulos.

19 Y los discípulos hicieron como Jesús les mandó, y aderezaron la pascua.

20 ✝ 26.20 Mr. 14.17-21. Y como fué la tarde del día, ✝26.20 Lc. 22.14.se sentó á la mesa con los doce.

21 Y comiendo ellos, dijo: ✝26.21 Jn. 13.21.De cierto os digo, que uno de vosotros me ha de entregar.

22 Y entristecidos ellos en gran manera, comenzó cada uno de ellos á decirle: ¿Soy yo, Señor?

23 Entonces él respondiendo, dijo: ✝26.23 Jn. 13.18.El que mete la mano conmigo en el plato, ése me ha de entregar.

24 ✝ 26.24 Lc. 22.22. A la verdad el Hijo del hombre va, ✝26.24 Lc. 24.25-27,46.como está escrito de él, mas ✝26.24 Jn. 17.12.¡ay de aquel hombre por quien el Hijo del hombre es entregado! bueno le fuera al tal hombre no haber nacido.

25 Entonces respondiendo Judas, que le entregaba, ✝26.25 Jn. 13.26.dijo. ¿Soy yo, Maestro? Dícele: Tú lo has dicho.

26 ✝ 26.26 Mr. 14.22-25. Lc. 22.19,20. 1 Co. 11.23-25. Y comiendo ellos, tomó Jesús el pan, y bendijo, y lo partió, y dió á sus discípulos, y dijo: Tomad, comed, esto es mi cuerpo.

27 Y tomando el vaso, y hechas gracias, les dió, diciendo: Bebed de él todos;

28 Porque ✝26.28 Ex. 24.8.esto es mi sangre del nuevo pacto, la cual es derramada ✝26.28 cp. 20.28.por muchos ✝26.28 Mr. 1.4.para remisión de los pecados.

29 Y os digo, ✝26.29 Lc. 22.18.que desde ahora no beberé más de este fruto de la vid, hasta aquel día, cuando lo tengo de beber nuevo con vosotros ✝26.29 Lc. 22.30.en el reino de mi Padre.

30 ✝ 26.30 Mr. 14.26-31. Y habiendo cantado ✝26.30 Salmos 113—118el himno, ✝26.30 Jn. 18.1.salieron al monte de las Olivas.

31 Entonces Jesús les dice: Todos vosotros seréis ✝26.31 cp. 11.6.escandalizados en mí esta noche; porque escrito está: ✝26.31 Zac. 13.7.Heriré al Pastor, y las ovejas de la manada serán dispersas.

32 Mas después que haya resucitado, ✝26.32 cp. 28.7,10,16.iré delante de vosotros á Galilea.

33 Y respondiendo Pedro, le dijo: Aunque todos sean escandalizados en ti, ✝26.33 Lc. 22.33.yo nunca seré escandalizado.

34 Jesús le dice: De cierto te digo que esta noche, ✝26.34 ver. 75antes que el gallo cante, me negarás tres veces.

35 Dícele Pedro: ✝26.35 Jn. 13.37.Aunque me sea menester morir contigo, no te negaré. Y todos los discípulos dijeron lo mismo.

36 Entonces llegó Jesús ✝26.36 Mr. 14.32-42. Lc. 22.39-42,45,46.con ellos á la aldea que se llama ✝26.36 Jn. 18.1.Gethsemaní, y dice á sus discípulos: Sentaos aquí, hasta que vaya allí y ore.

37 Y tomando á Pedro, y ✝26.37 cp. 4.21 y 17.1.a los dos hijos de Zebedeo, comenzó á entristecerse y á angustiarse en gran manera.

38 Entonces Jesús les dice: Mi alma está muy triste hasta la muerte; quedaos aquí, y velad conmigo.

39 Y yéndose un poco más adelante, se postró sobre su rostro, ✝26.39 He. 5.7.orando, y diciendo: Padre mío, si es posible, ✝26.39 cp. 20.22.pase de mí este vaso; empero ✝26.39 Jn. 5.30 y 6.38. Fil. 2.8.no como yo quiero, sino como tú.

40 Y vino á sus discípulos, y los halló durmiendo, y dijo á Pedro: ¿Así no habéis podido velar conmigo una hora?

41 Velad y orad, ✝26.41 Ef. 6.18.para que no entréis en tentación: ✝26.41 Ga. 5.17.el espíritu á la verdad está presto, mas la carne enferma.

42 Otra vez fué, segunda vez, y oró diciendo: Padre mío, si no puede este vaso pasar de mí sin que yo lo beba, hágase tu voluntad.

43 Y vino, y los halló otra vez durmiendo; porque los ojos de ellos estaban agravados.

44 Y dejándolos fuése de nuevo, y oró tercera vez, diciendo las mismas palabras.

45 Entonces vino á sus discípulos y díceles: Dormid ya, y descansad: he aquí ha llegado la hora, y el Hijo del hombre es entregado en manos de pecadores.

46 Levantaos, vamos: he aquí ha llegado el que me ha entregado.

47 Y ✝26.47 Mr. 14.43-50. Lc. 22.47-53. Jn. 18.3-11.hablando aún él, he aquí ✝26.47 vers. 14,25Judas, uno de los doce, vino, y con él mucha gente con espadas y con palos, de parte de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y de los ancianos del pueblo.

1 Jesús ante el Sanedrín.

2 Negación de Pedro.

48 Y el que le entregaba les había dado señal, diciendo: Al que yo besare, aquél es: prendedle.

49 Y luego que llegó á Jesús, dijo: Salve, Maestro. Y le besó.

50 Y Jesús le dijo: Amigo, ¿á qué vienes? Entonces llegaron, y echaron mano á Jesús, y le prendieron.

51 Y he aquí, ✝26.51 Jn. 18.10.uno de los que estaban con Jesús, extendiendo la mano, sacó ✝26.51 Lc. 22.38.su espada, é hiriendo á un siervo del pontífice, le quitó la oreja.

52 Entonces Jesús le dice: Vuelve tu espada á su lugar; ✝26.52 Ap. 13.10.porque todos los que tomaren espada, á espada perecerán.

53 ¿Acaso piensas que no puedo ahora orar á mi Padre, y él me daría más de doce legiones de ángeles?

54 ¿Cómo, pues, se cumplirían ✝26.54 ver. 24. Is. 53.7-10. Lm. 4.20.las Escrituras, que así conviene que sea hecho?

55 En aquella hora dijo Jesús á las gentes: ¿Como á ladrón habéis salido con espadas y con palos á prenderme? Cada día me sentaba con vosotros enseñando en el templo, y no me prendisteis.

56 Mas todo esto se hace, para que se cumplan las Escrituras de los profetas. Entonces ✝26.56 Jn. 18.15.todos los discípulos huyeron, dejándole.

57 ✝ 26.57 Mr. 14.53-65. Lc. 22.54. Jn. 18.12-15,19-24. Y ellos, prendido Jesús, le llevaron á ✝26.57 ver. 3Caifás pontífice, donde los escribas y los ancianos estaban juntos.

58 Mas Pedro le seguía de lejos hasta el patio del pontífice; y entrando dentro, estábase sentado con los criados, para ver el fin.

59 Y los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los ancianos, y todo el consejo, buscaban falso testimonio contra Jesús, para entregarle á la muerte;

60 Y no lo hallaron, aunque ✝26.60 Sal. 27.12 y 35.11.muchos testigos falsos se llegaban; mas á la postre vinieron dos testigos falsos,

61 Que dijeron: Este dijo: ✝26.61 Jn. 2.19.Puedo derribar el templo de Dios, y en tres días reedificarlo.

62 Y levantándose el pontífice, le dijo: ¿No respondes nada? ¿qué testifican éstos contra ti?

63 Mas ✝26.63 Is. 53.7. cp. 27.12,14. Mr. 14.61 y 15.5. Jn. 19.9.Jesús callaba. Respondiendo el pontífice, le dijo: ✝26.63 Lv. 5.1.Te conjuro por el Dios viviente, que nos digas si eres tú el Cristo, ✝26.63 Mr. 14.61.Hijo de Dios.

64 Jesús le dijo: Tú lo has dicho: y aun os digo, que desde ahora ✝26.64 cp. 16.27 y 25.31,32.habéis de ver al Hijo del hombre sentado á la diestra de la potencia de Dios, y que viene en las nubes del cielo.

65 Entonces el pontífice rasgó sus vestidos, diciendo: Blasfemado ha: ¿qué más necesidad tenemos de testigos? He aquí, ahora habéis oído su blasfemia.

66 ¿Qué os parece? Y respondiendo ellos, dijeron: ✝26.66 Lv. 24.16.Culpado es de muerte.

67 Entonces ✝26.67 Is. 50.6. cp. 27.30le escupieron en el rostro, y le dieron de bofetadas; y otros le herían con mojicones,

68 Diciendo: ✝26.68 Lc. 22.64.Profetízanos tú, Cristo, quién es el que te ha herido.

69 Y Pedro estaba sentado ✝26.69 Mr. 14.66-72. Lc. 22.55-62. Jn. 18.16—18.25-27.fuera en el ✝26.69 ver. 3patio: y se llegó á él una criada, diciendo: Y tú con Jesús el ✝26.69 cp. 2.23.Galileo estabas.

70 Mas él negó delante de todos, diciendo: No sé lo que dices.

71 Y saliendo él á la puerta, le vió otra, y dijo á los que estaban allí: También éste estaba con Jesús Nazareno.

72 Y nego otra vez con juramento: No conozco al hombre.

73 Y un poco después llegaron los que estaban por allí, y dijeron á Pedro: Verdaderamente también tú eres de ellos, porque aun ✝26.73 Mr. 14.70. Lc. 22.59.tu habla te hace manifiesto.

74 Entonces comenzó á hacer imprecaciones, y á jurar, diciendo: No conozco al hombre. Y el gallo cantó luego.

75 Y se acordó Pedro de las palabras de Jesús, que le dijo: ✝26.75 ver. 34. Lc. 22.61.Antes que cante el gallo, me negarás tres veces. Y saliéndose fuera, lloró amargamente.
