Mateus 22

1 And Jesus answering spoke to them again in parables, saying, 2 The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son, 3 and sent his bondmen to call the persons invited to the wedding feast, and they would not come. 4 Again he sent other bondmen, saying, Say to the persons invited, Behold, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and my fatted beasts are killed, and all things ready; come to the wedding feast. 5 But they made light of it, and went, one to his own land, and another to his commerce. 6 And the rest, laying hold of his bondmen, ill-treated and slew them. 7 And when the king heard of it he was wroth, and having sent his forces, destroyed those murderers and burned their city. 8 Then he says to his bondmen, The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy; 9 go therefore into the thoroughfares of the highways, and as many as ye shall find invite to the wedding feast. 10 And those bondmen went out into the highways, and brought together all as many as they found, both evil and good; and the wedding feast was furnished with guests. 11 And the king, having gone in to see the guests, beheld there a man not clothed with a wedding garment. 12 And he says to him, My friend, how camest thou in here not having on a wedding garment? But he was speechless. 13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him feet and hands, and take him away, and cast him out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. 14 For many are called ones, but few chosen ones.

15 Then went the Pharisees and held a council how they might ensnare him in speaking. 16 And they send out to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one, for thou regardest not men’s person; 17 tell us therefore what thou thinkest: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not? 18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, hypocrites? 19 Shew me the money of the tribute. And they presented to him a denarius. 20 And he says to them, Whose is this image and superscription? 21 They say to him, Caesar’s. Then he says to them, Pay then what is Caesar’s to Caesar, and what is God’s to God. 22 And when they heard him, they wondered, and left him, and went away.

23 On that day came to him Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and they demanded of him, 24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If any one die, not having children, his brother shall marry his wife and shall raise up seed to his brother. 25 Now there were with us seven brethren; and the first having married died, and not having seed, left his wife to his brother. 26 In like manner also the second and the third, unto the seven. 27 And last of all the woman also died. 28 In the resurrection therefore of which of the seven shall she be wife, for all had her? 29 And Jesus answering said to them, Ye err, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as angels of God in heaven. 31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read what was spoken to you by God, saying, 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not God of the dead, but of the living. 33 And when the crowds heard it they were astonished at his doctrine.

34 But the Pharisees, having heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, were gathered together. 35 And one of them, a lawyer, demanded, tempting him, and saying, 36 Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 And he said to him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy understanding. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And the second is like it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments the whole law and the prophets hang.

41 And the Pharisees being gathered together, Jesus demanded of them, 42 saying, What think ye concerning the Christ? whose son is he? They say to him, David’s. 43 He says to them, How then does David in Spirit call him Lord, saying, 44 The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand until I put thine enemies under thy feet? 45 If therefore David call him Lord, how is he his son? 46 And no one was able to answer him a word, nor did any one dare from that day to question him any more.

1 Y RESPONDIENDO Jesús, ✝22.1 Lc. 14.16-24.les volvió á hablar en parábolas, diciendo:

2 El reino de los cielos es semejante á un hombre rey, que hizo ✝22.2 Ap. 19.7,9.bodas á su hijo;

3 Y envió sus siervos para que llamasen los llamados á las bodas; mas no quisieron venir.

4 Volvió á enviar otros siervos, diciendo: Decid á los llamados: He aquí, mi comida he aparejado; mis toros y animales engordados son muertos, y todo está prevenido: venid á las bodas.

5 Mas ellos no se cuidaron, y se fueron, uno á su labranza, y otro á sus negocios;

6 Y otros, tomando á sus siervos, los afrentaron y los mataron.

7 Y el rey, oyendo esto, se enojó; y enviando sus ejércitos, destruyó á aquellos homicidas, y puso fuego á su ciudad.

8 Entonces dice á sus siervos: Las bodas á la verdad están aparejadas; mas los que eran llamados no eran ✝22.8 cp. 10.11,13.dignos.

9 Id pues á las salidas de los caminos, y llamad á las bodas á cuantos hallareis.

10 Y saliendo los siervos por los caminos, juntaron á todos los que hallaron, juntamente ✝22.10 cp. 13.38,47 y 25.2.malos y buenos: y las bodas fueron llenas de convidados.

11 Y entró el rey para ver los convidados, y vió allí un hombre ✝22.11 Is. 61.10. Ap. 19.8.no vestido de boda.

12 Y le dijo: Amigo, ¿cómo entraste aquí no teniendo vestido de boda? Mas él cerró la boca.

13 Entonces el rey dijo á los que servían: Atado de pies y de manos tomadle, y echadle en las tinieblas de afuera: ✝22.13 cp. 8.12.allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.

14 Porque ✝22.14 cp. 20.16.muchos son llamados, y pocos escogidos.

15 Entonces, idos los Fariseos, ✝22.15 Mr. 12.13-37. Lc. 20.20-38.consultaron cómo le tomarían en alguna palabra.

16 Y envían á él los discípulos de ellos, con los ✝22.16 Mr. 3.6 y 12.13.Herodianos, diciendo: Maestro, sabemos que eres amador de la verdad, y que enseñas con verdad el camino de Dios, y que no te curas de nadie, porque no tienes acepción de persona de hombres.

17 Dinos pues, ¿qué te parece? ¿es lícito dar tributo á ✝22.17 Lc. 3.1.César, ó no?

18 Mas Jesús, entendida la malicia de ellos, les dice: ¿Por qué me tentáis, hipócritas?

19 Mostradme la moneda del tributo. Y ellos le presentaron un denario.

20 Entonces les dice: ¿Cúya es esta figura, y lo que está encima escrito?

21 Dícenle: De César. Y díceles: ✝22.21 Ro. 13.7.Pagad pues á César lo que es de César, y á Dios lo que es de Dios.

22 Y oyendo esto, se maravillaron, y dejándole se fueron.

23 Aquel día llegaron á él los ✝22.23 cp. 3.7 y 16.1,6,11,12. Hch. 4.1 y 5.17 y 23.6-8.Saduceos, que dicen no haber resurrección, y le preguntaron,

24 Diciendo: Maestro, Moisés dijo: ✝22.24 Dt. 25.5.Si alguno muriere sin hijos, su hermano se casará con su mujer, y despertará simiente á su hermano.

25 Fueron pues, entre nosotros siete hermanos: y el primero tomó mujer, y murió; y no teniendo generación, dejó su mujer á su hermano.

26 De la misma manera también el segundo, y el tercero, hasta los siete.

27 Y después de todos murió también la mujer.

28 En la resurrección pues, ¿de cuál de los siete será ella mujer? porque todos la tuvieron.

29 Entonces respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Erráis ✝22.29 Jn. 20.9.ignorando las Escrituras, y el poder de Dios.

30 Porque en la resurrección, ni los hombres tomarán mujeres, ni las mujeres marido; mas ✝22.30 1 Jn. 3.2.son como los ángeles de Dios en el cielo.

31 Y de la resurrección de los muertos, ¿no habéis leído lo que os es dicho por Dios, que dice:

32 Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, ✝22.32 Ex. 3.6. Hch. 7.32.y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob? Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos.

33 Y oyendo esto las gentes, ✝22.33 cp. 7.28.estaban atónitas de su doctrina.

34 Entonces los Fariseos, oyendo que había cerrado la boca á los Saduceos, se juntaron á una.

35 Y preguntó uno de ellos, ✝22.35 Lc. 10.25 y 11.45,46,52 y 14.3.intérprete de la ley, tentándole y diciendo:

36 Maestro, ¿cuál es el mandamiento grande en la ley?

37 Y Jesús le dijo: ✝22.37 Dt. 6.5. Lc. 10.27.Amarás al Señor tu Dios de todo tu corazón, y de toda tu alma, y de toda tu mente.

38 Este es el primero y el grande mandamiento.

39 Y el segundo es semejante á éste: ✝22.39 Lv. 19.18. cp. 19.19Amarás á tu prójimo como á ti mismo.

40 De estos dos mandamientos depende toda la ley y los profetas.

41 Y estando juntos los Fariseos, ✝22.41 Lc. 20.41-44.Jesús les preguntó,

42 Diciendo: ¿Qué os parece del Cristo? ¿de quién es Hijo? Dícenle: ✝22.42 cp. 1.1.De David.

43 El les dice: ¿Pues cómo David en Espíritu le llama Señor, diciendo:

44 Dijo el Señor á mi Señor:

✝ 22.44 Sal. 110.1. Hch. 2.34,35. He. 1.13. Siéntate á mi diestra,

Entre tanto que pongo tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies?

45 Pues si David le llama Señor, ¿cómo es su Hijo?

1 El Cristo, hijo de David.

2 Jesús censura á los Fariseos.

46 Y nadie le podía responder palabra; ✝22.46 Mr. 12.34. Lc. 20.40.ni osó alguno desde aquel día preguntarle más.
