1 Then after a lapse of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me; 2 and I went up according to revelation, and I laid before them the glad tidings which I preach among the nations, but privately to those conspicuous among them, lest in any way I run or had run in vain; 3 (but neither was Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, compelled to be circumcised;) 4 and it was on account of the false brethren brought in surreptitiously, who came in surreptitiously to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage; 5 to whom we yielded in subjection not even for an hour, that the truth of the glad tidings might remain with you. 6 But from those who were conspicuous as being somewhat — whatsoever they were, it makes no difference to me: God does not accept man’s person; for to me those who were conspicuous communicated nothing; 7 but, on the contrary, seeing that the glad tidings of the uncircumcision were confided to me, even as to Peter that of the circumcision, 8 (for he that wrought in Peter for the apostleship of the circumcision wrought also in me towards the Gentiles,) 9 and recognising the grace given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were conspicuous as being pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship, that weshould goto the nations, and they to the circumcision; 10 only that we should remember the poor, which same thing also I was diligent to do.

11 But when Peter came to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be condemned: 12 for before that certain came from James, he ate with those of the nations; but when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those of the circumcision; 13 and the rest of the Jews also played the same dissembling part with him; so that even Barnabas was carried away too by their dissimulation. 14 But when I saw that they do not walk straightforwardly, according to the truth of the glad tidings, I said to Peter before all, If thou, being a Jew, livest as the nations and not as the Jews, how dost thou compel the nations to Judaize? 15 We, Jews by nature, and not sinners of the nations, 16 but knowing that a man is not justified on the principle of works of law nor but by the faith of Jesus Christ, we also have believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified on the principle of the faith of Christ; and not of works of law; because on the principle of works of law no flesh shall be justified. 17 Now if in seeking to be justified in Christ we also have been found sinners, then is Christ minister of sin? Far be the thought. 18 For if the things I have thrown down, these I build again, I constitute myself a transgressor. 19 For I, through law, have died to law, that I may live to God. 20 I am crucified with Christ, and no longer live, I, but Christ lives in me; but in that I now live in flesh, I live by faith, the faith of the Son of God, who has loved me and given himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness is by law, then Christ has died for nothing.

Cap. 1:16.Col. 1:29. și din mine apostolul neamurilor*Cap. 3:5. – 9 și când au cunoscut harul*Mat. 16:18.Efes. 2:20.Apoc. 21:14. care-mi fusese dat, Iacov, Chifa și Ioan, care sunt priviți ca stâlpi*Rom. 1:5;12:3,6;15:15.1 Cor. 15:10.Efes. 3:8., mi-au dat mie și lui Barnaba mâna dreaptă de însoțire, ca să mergem să propovăduim: noi la neamuri, iar ei la cei tăiați împrejur. 10 Ne-au spus numai să ne aducem aminte de cei săraci, și chiar așa*Fapte 11:30;24:17.Rom. 15:25.1 Cor. 16:1.2 Cor. 8:9. am și căutat să fac.

11 Dar*Fapte 15:35. când a venit Chifa în Antiohia, i-am stat împotrivă în față, căci era de osândit. 12 În adevăr, înainte de venirea unora de la Iacov, el*Fapte 10:28;11:3. mânca împreună cu neamurile, dar când au venit ei, s-a ferit și a stat deoparte de teama celor tăiați împrejur. 13 Împreună cu el au început să se prefacă și ceilalți iudei, așa că până și Barnaba a fost prins în lațul fățărniciei lor. 14 Când i-am văzut eu că nu umblă drept după adevărul*Vers. 5. Evangheliei, am spus lui Chifa în fața*1 Tim. 5:20. tuturor: „Dacă*Fapte 10:28.Fapte 11:3. tu, care ești iudeu, trăiești ca neamurile, și nu ca iudeii, cum silești pe neamuri să trăiască în felul iudeilor?" 15 Noi*Fapte 15:10,11. suntem iudei din fire, iar nu păcătoși*Mat. 9:11.Efes. 2:3,12. dintre neamuri. 16 Totuși, fiindcă știm*Fapte 13:38,39. că omul nu este socotit neprihănit prin faptele Legii, ci*Rom. 1:17;3:22,28;8:3. Cap. 3:24.Evr. 7:18,19. numai prin credința în Isus Hristos, am crezut și noi în Hristos Isus, ca să fim socotiți neprihăniți prin credința în Hristos, iar nu prin*Ps. 143:2.Rom. 3:20. Cap. 3:11. faptele Legii; pentru că nimeni nu va fi socotit neprihănit prin faptele Legii. 17 Dar, dacă, în timp ce căutăm să fim socotiți neprihăniți în Hristos, și noi înșine am fi găsiți ca păcătoși*1 Ioan 3:8,9., este oare Hristos un slujitor al păcatului? Nicidecum! 18 Căci, dacă zidesc iarăși lucrurile pe care le-am stricat, mă arăt ca un călcător de lege. 19 Căci eu, prin*Rom. 8:2. Lege, am*Rom. 6:14;7:4,6. murit față de Lege, ca să trăiesc*Rom. 6:11.2 Cor. 5:15.1 Tes. 5:10.Evr. 9:14.1 Pet. 4:2. pentru Dumnezeu. 20 Am fost răstignit*Rom. 6:6. Cap. 5:24;6:14. împreună cu Hristos și trăiesc…, dar nu mai trăiesc eu, ci Hristos trăiește în mine. Și viața pe care o trăiesc acum în trup o trăiesc*2 Cor. 5:15.1 Tes. 5:10.1 Pet. 4:2. în credința în Fiul lui Dumnezeu, care m-a iubit*Cap. 1:4.Efes. 5:2.Tit 2:14. și S-a dat pe Sine Însuși pentru mine. 21 Nu vreau să fac zadarnic harul lui Dumnezeu; căci dacă*Cap. 3:21.Evr. 7:11.Rom. 11:6. Cap. 5:4. neprihănirea se capătă prin Lege, degeaba a murit Hristos.
