1 When Salomon had finished the building of the house of ye Lord, and the kings palace, and all that Salomon desired and minded to do, 2 Then the Lord appeared vnto Salomon the second time, as he appeared vnto him at Gibeon. 3 And the Lord sayd vnto him, I haue heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I haue halowed this house (which thou hast built) to put my Name there for euer, and mine eyes, and mine heart shall be there perpetually. 4 And if thou wilt walke before mee (as Dauid thy father walked in purenesse of heart and in righteousnesse) to doe according to al that I haue commanded thee, and keepe my statutes, and my iudgements, 5 Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdome vpon Israel for euer, as I promised to Dauid thy father, saying, Thou shalt not want a man vpon the throne of Israel. 6 But if ye and your children turne away from mee, and wil not keepe my commandements, and my statutes (which I haue set before you) but go and serue other gods, and worship them, 7 Then will I cutte off Israel from the lande, which I haue giuen them, and the house which I haue halowed for my Name, will I cast out of my sight, and Israel shall be a prouerbe, and a common talke among all people. 8 Euen this hie house shall bee so: euery one that passeth by it, shalbe astonied, and shall hisse, and they shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus vnto this land and to this house? 9 And they shall answere, Because they forsooke the Lord their God, which brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and haue taken holde vpon other gods, and haue worshipped them, and serued them, therfore hath the Lord brought vpon them all this euill. 10 And at the ende of twentie yeeres, when Salomon had buylded the two houses, the house of the Lord, and the Kings palace, 11 (For the which Hiram the King of Tyrus had brought to Salomon timber of cedar, and firre trees, and golde, and whatsoeuer he desired) then King Salomon gaue to Hiram twentie cities in the land of Galil. 12 And Hiram came out from Tyrus to see the cities which Salomon had giuen him, and they pleased him not. 13 Therefore hee sayde, What cities are these which thou hast giuen me, my brother? And hee called them the land of Cabul vnto this day. 14 And Hiram had sent the King sixe score talents of gold. 15 And this is the cause of the tribute why King Salomon raised tribute, to wit, to builde the house of the Lord, and his owne house, and Millo, and the wall of Ierusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer. 16 Pharaoh King of Egypt had come vp, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slew the Canaanites, that dwelt in the citie, and gaue it for a present vnto his daughter Salomons wife. 17 (Therefore Salomon builte Gezer and Beth-horon the nether, 18 And Baalath and Tamor in the wildernes of the land, 19 And all the cities of store, that Salomon had, euen cities for charets, and cities for horsemen, and all that Salomon desired and woulde build in Ierusalem, and in Lebanon and in all the land of his dominion) 20 Al the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hiuites, and Iebusites, which were not of the children of Israel: 21 To wit, their children that were left after them in the lande, whome the children of Israel were not able to destroy, those did Salomon make tributaries vnto this day. 22 But of the children of Israel did Salomon make no bondmen: but they were men of warre and his seruants, and his princes, and his captaines, and rulers of his charets and his horsemen. 23 These were the princes of the officers, that were ouer Salomons worke: euen fiue hundreth and fiftie, and they ruled the people that wrought in the worke. 24 And Pharaohs daughter came vp from the citie of Dauid vnto the house which Salomon had built for her: then did he buylde Millo. 25 And thrise a yere did Salomon offer burnt offringes and peace offrings vpon the altar which he built vnto the Lord: and hee burnt incense vpon the altar that was before the Lord, when hee had finished the house. 26 Also King Salomon made a nauie of ships in Ezeon-geber, which is beside Eloth, and the brinke of the red Sea, in the land of Edom. 27 And Hiram sent with the nauie his seruats, that were mariners, and had knowledge of the sea, with the seruants of Salomon. 28 And they came to Ophir and sette from thence foure hundreth and twentie talents of gold, and brought it to King Salomon.

1 Tendo Salomão acabado de edificar a casa de Jeová, e a casa do rei, e tudo o que desejara e quisera fazer,

2 apareceu-lhe Jeová segunda vez, como lhe tinha aparecido em Gibeom.

3 Jeová disse-lhe: Ouvi a oração e a súplica, que fizeste diante de mim; santifiquei esta casa, que edificaste, para nela pôr o meu nome para sempre; e nela estarão os meus olhos e o meu coração todos os dias.

4 Quanto a ti, se andares diante de mim, como andou teu pai Davi, em integridade de coração e em eqüidade, fazendo conforme tudo o que hei ordenado, e se guardares os meus estatutos e os meus juízos;

5 estabelecerei o trono do teu reino sobre Israel para sempre, como prometi a teu pai Davi, dizendo: Não te faltará um sucessor sobre o trono de Israel.

6 Porém se vos desviardes, vós e vossos filhos, e não me seguirdes nem guardardes os meus mandamentos e os meus estatutos que vos tenho proposto, mas se fordes servir a outros deuses, e lhes derdes culto;

7 exterminarei a Israel da terra que lhe dei; e esta casa, que santifiquei ao meu nome, lançá-la-ei longe da minha presença, e Israel virá a ser provérbio e motejo de todos os povos.

8 Embora esta casa seja tão alta, todavia todo o que por ela passar, pasmará e assobiará e dir-se-á: Por que fez Jeová assim a esta casa e a esta terra?

9 Ser-lhe-á dito em resposta: Porque deixaram a Jeová seu Deus, que tirou da terra do Egito a seus pais, e se apegaram a outros deuses e os adoraram e os serviram. Por isso trouxe Jeová sobre eles todo este mal.

10 Passados vinte anos, em que edificara Salomão as duas casas, isto é, a casa de Jeová e a casa do rei

11 (ora Hirão, rei de Tiro, tinha fornecido a Salomão madeiras de cedro e de cipreste, e ouro segundo tudo o que este desejava), então deu a Hirão vinte cidades na terra da Galiléia.

12 Saiu Hirão de Tiro para ver as cidades que Salomão lhe tinha dado, e não lhe agradaram.

13 Disse: Que cidades são estas que me deste, irmão meu? E chamou-lhes terra de Cabul, nome que se conserva até hoje.

14 Hirão tinha enviado ao rei cento e vinte talentos de ouro.

15 A razão da leva de trabalhadores forçados que fez o rei Salomão é está: edificar a casa de Jeová, e a sua própria casa, e Milo, e o muro de Jerusalém, e Hasor, e Megido, e Gezer.

16 Faraó, rei do Egito, subiu e tomou a Gezer; queimou-a com fogo, matou os cananeus que habitavam na cidade, e deu-a em dote a sua filha, mulher de Salomão.

17 Salomão edificou Gezer e Bete-Horom a baixa,

18 e Baalate e Tamar no deserto do país,

19 e todas as cidades-armazéns que Salomão tinha, e as cidades dos carros e as dos cavaleiros, e tudo o que Salomão para o seu prazer quis edificar em Jerusalém, e no Líbano, e em toda a terra do seu domínio.

20 Quanto a todo o povo que tinha ficado dos amorreus, dos heteus, dos perizeus, dos heveus, e dos jebuseus, que não eram dos filhos de Israel;

21 dos seus filhos que lhe tinham sucedido na terra, aos quais os filhos de Israel não puderam extinguir totalmente, deles fez Salomão uma leva de trabalhadores forçados, que continuam a ser até o dia de hoje.

22 Porém dos filhos de Israel não fez trabalhadores forçados; mas eram os homens de guerra, seus ministros, seus príncipes, seus capitães, e os chefes dos seus carros e dos seus cavaleiros.

23 Os principais oficiais que estavam sobre a obra de Salomão eram quinhentos e cinqüenta, que dirigiam o povo que trabalhava na obra.

24 Subiu, porém, a filha de Faraó da cidade de Davi para a casa que Salomão lhe tinha edificado; foi então que edificou a Milo.

25 Oferecia Salomão três vezes cada ano holocaustos e ofertas pacíficas sobre o altar que tinha edificado a Jeová, queimando com eles incenso sobre o altar que estava defronte de Jeová. Assim acabou ele a casa.

26 Fez Salomão uma frota em Eziom-Geber, que é perto de Elate, na praia do Mar Vermelho, na terra de Edom.

27 Mandou Hirão na frota os seus servos, marinheiros, entendidos em náutica, juntamente com os servos de Salomão.

28 Chegaram a Ofir, e de lá tomaram quatrocentos e vinte talentos de ouro, que trouxeram ao rei Salomão.
