1 And when the day of Pentecost was come, they were al with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sounde from heauen, as of a russhing and mightie winde, and it filled all the house where they sate. 3 And there appeared vnto them clouen tongues, like fire, and it sate vpon eche of them. 4 And they were all filled with the holy Ghost, and began to speake with other tongues, as the Spirit gaue them vtterance. 5 And there were dwelling at Hierusalem Iewes, men that feared God, of euery nation vnder heauen. 6 Nowe when this was noised, the multitude came together and were astonied, because that euery man heard them speake his owne language. 7 And they wondered al, and marueiled, saying among themselues, Beholde, are not all these which speake, of Galile? 8 How then heare we euery man our owne language, wherein we were borne? 9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the inhabitants of Mesopotamia, and of Iudea, and of Cappadocia, of Pontus, and Asia, 10 And of Phrygia, and Pamphylia, of Egypt, and of the partes of Libya, which is beside Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, and Iewes, and Proselytes, 11 Creetes, and Arabians: wee hearde them speake in our owne tongues the wonderful works of God. 12 They were all then amased, and douted, saying one to another, What may this be? 13 And others mocked, and saide, They are full of newe wine. 14 But Peter standing with ye Eleuen, lift vp his voice, and said vnto them, Ye men of Iudea, and ye all that inhabite Hierusalem, be this knowen vnto you, and hearken vnto my woordes. 15 For these are not drunken, as yee suppose, since it is but the third houre of the day. 16 But this is that, which was spoken by the Prophet Ioel, 17 And it shalbe in the last daies, saith God, I wil powre out of my Spirite vpon al flesh, and your sonnes, and your daughters shall prophecie, and your yong men shall see visions, and your old men shall dreame dreames. 18 And on my seruauntes, and on mine handmaides I will powre out of my Spirite in those daies, and they shall prophecie. 19 And I wil shew wonders in heauen aboue, and tokens in the earth beneath, blood, and fire, and the vapour of smoke. 20 The Sunne shalbe turned into darkenesse, and the moone into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come. 21 And it shalbe, that whosoeuer shall call on the Name of the Lord, shalbe saued. 22 Yee men of Israel, heare these woordes, JESUS of Nazareth, a man approued of God among you with great workes, and wonders, and signes, which God did by him in the middes of you, as yee your selues also knowe: 23 Him, I say, being deliuered by the determinate counsell, and foreknowledge of God, after you had taken, with wicked handes you haue crucified and slaine. 24 Whome God hath raised vp, and loosed the sorrowes of death, because it was vnpossible that he should be holden of it. 25 For Dauid sayeth concerning him, I beheld the Lord alwaies before me: for hee is at my right hand, that I should not be shaken. 26 Therefore did mine heart reioyce, and my tongue was glad, and moreouer also my flesh shall rest in hope, 27 Because thou wilt not leaue my soule in graue, neither wilt suffer thine Holy one to see corruption. 28 Thou hast shewed me the waies of life, and shalt make me full of ioy with thy countenance. 29 Men and brethren, I may boldly speake vnto you of the Patriarke Dauid, that hee is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre remaineth with vs vnto this day. 30 Therefore, seeing hee was a Prophet, and knewe that God had sworne with an othe to him, that of the fruite of his loynes hee woulde raise vp Christ concerning the flesh, to set him vpon his throne, 31 Hee knowing this before, spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soule shoulde not bee left in graue, neither his flesh shoulde see corruption. 32 This Iesus hath God raised vp, whereof we all are witnesses. 33 Since then that he by the right hande of God hath bene exalted, and hath receiued of his Father the promise of the holy Ghost, hee hath shed foorth this which yee nowe see and heare. 34 For Dauid is not ascended into heauen, but he sayth, The Lord sayd to my Lord, Sit at my right hande, 35 Vntill I make thine enemies thy footestoole. 36 Therefore, let all the house of Israel know for a suretie, that God hath made him both Lord, and Christ, this Iesus, I say, whome yee haue crucified. 37 Now when they heard it, they were pricked in their heartes, and said vnto Peter and the other Apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we doe? 38 Then Peter said vnto them, Amend your liues, and bee baptized euery one of you in the Name of Iesus Christ for the remission of sinnes: and ye shall receiue the gift of the holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is made vnto you, and to your children, and to all that are a farre off, euen as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40 And with many other words he besought and exhorted them, saying, Saue your selues from this froward generation. 41 Then they that gladly receiued his word, were baptized: and the same day there were added to the Church about three thousand soules. 42 And they continued in the Apostles doctrine, and fellowship, and breaking of bread, and prayers. 43 And feare came vpon euery soule: and many wonders and signes were done by ye Apostles. 44 And all that beleeued, were in one place, and had all things common. 45 And they sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all me, as euery one had need. 46 And they continued dayly with one accord in the Temple, and breaking bread at home, did eate their meate together with gladnesse and singlenesse of heart, 47 Praysing God, and had fauour with all the people: and the Lord added to the Church from day to day, such as should be saued.

1 Ao cumprir-se o dia de Pentecostes, estavam todos reunidos no mesmo lugar;

2 de repente veio do céu um ruído, como de um vento impetuoso, que encheu toda a casa onde estavam sentados

3 e lhes apareceram umas como línguas de fogo, as quais se distribuíram, para repousar sobre cada um deles.

4 Todos ficaram cheios do Espírito Santo e começaram a falar em outras línguas, conforme o Espírito lhes concedia que falassem.

5 Habitavam em Jerusalém judeus, homens religiosos, de todas as nações debaixo do céu;

6 quando se ouviu este ruído, ajuntou-se ali a multidão e ficou pasmada, porque cada um os ouvia falar na sua própria língua.

7 Estavam atônitos e maravilhavam-se, perguntando: Não são galileus todos estes que estão falando?

8 Como os ouvimos falar cada um na língua de nosso nascimento,

9 partos, medas e elamitas, e os que habitam a Mesopotâmia, a Judéia e a Capadócia, o Ponto e a Ásia,

10 a Frígia, a Panfília, o Egito e as partes da Líbia próximas a Cirene, e forasteiros romanos, sendo uns judeus e outros prosélitos,

11 cretenses e árabes; como é que os ouvimos falar em nossas línguas as grandezas de Deus?

12 Ficaram todos atônitos e perplexos, e perguntavam uns aos outros: Que quer isto dizer?

13 Outros, porém, zombando, diziam: Estão cheios de mosto.

14 Mas Pedro, estando em pé com os onze, levantou a voz e disse-lhes: Homens da Judéia e todos os que habitais em Jerusalém, seja-vos isto notório, e prestai ouvido às minhas palavras.

15 Pois estes homens não estão embriagados, como vós supondes, visto que é ainda a hora terceira do dia;

16 mas cumpre-se o que dissera o profeta Joel:

17 E acontecerá nos últimos dias, diz o Senhor, Que derramarei do meu espírito sobre toda a carne; Vossos filhos e vossas filhas profetizarão, Vossos mancebos terão visões, E sonharão vossos anciãos;

18 E sobre os meus servos e sobre as minhas servas Derramarei do meu Espírito naqueles dias, e profetizarão.

19 Mostrarei prodígios em cima no céu E sinais em baixo na terra; Sangue, fogo e vapor de fumo.

20 O Sol se converterá em trevas, E a lua em sangue, Antes que venha o grande e glorioso dia do Senhor.

21 E acontecerá que todo aquele que invocar o nome do Senhor será salvo.

22 Israelitas, ouvi estas palavras: Jesus o Nazareno, varão a quem Deus acreditou junto a vós com poderes, prodígios e sinais, que Deus fez por meio dele entre vós, como vós mesmos sabeis;

23 sendo este entregue pelo determinado conselho e presciência de Deus, vós o matastes, crucificando-o por mãos de iníquos;

24 ao qual Deus ressuscitou, desatando os laços da morte; porque não era possível que fosse por ela retido.

25 Pois dele fala Davi: Diante de mim via sempre o Senhor, Porque está à minha direita, para que eu não seja abalado.

26 Por isso se alegrou o meu coração e a minha língua exultou; Além disto também a minha carne repousará em esperança,

27 Porque não deixarás a minha alma no Hades, Nem permitirás que o teu Santo veja a corrupção.

28 Fizeste-me conhecer os caminhos da vida, Encher-me-ás de alegria na tua presença.

29 Irmãos, é-me permitido dizer-vos ousadamente acerca do patriarca Davi, que ele morreu e foi sepultado, e o seu túmulo está entre nós até hoje.

30 Sendo, pois, profeta, e sabendo que Deus lhe havia jurado que um dos seus descendentes seria colocado sobre o seu trono;

31 prevendo isto, Davi falou da ressurreição de Cristo, que nem foi deixado no Hades, nem o seu corpo viu a corrupção.

32 A este Jesus Deus ressuscitou, do que todos nós somos testemunhas.

33 Exaltado, pois, pela destra de Deus e, tendo recebido do Pai a promessa do Espírito Santo, derramou o que vedes e ouvis.

34 Pois Davi não subiu aos céus, mas ele mesmo declara: Disse o Senhor ao meu Senhor: Assenta-te à minha mão direita,

35 Até que eu ponha os teus inimigos por escabelo de teus pés.

36 Fique, pois, certa toda a casa de Israel de que a este Jesus que vós crucificastes, Deus o fez Senhor e Cristo.

37 Ouvindo eles estas coisas, compungiram-se no seu coração e perguntaram a Pedro e aos demais apóstolos: Que faremos, irmãos?

38 Respondeu-lhes Pedro: Arrependei-vos, e cada um de vós seja batizado em nome de Jesus Cristo para remissão de vossos pecados, e recebereis o dom do Espírito Santo.

39 Pois para vós é a promessa e para vossos filhos, e para todos os que estão longe, a quantos chamar o Senhor nosso Deus.

40 Com muitas outras palavras dava testemunho, e exortava-os, dizendo: Salvai-vos desta geração perversa.

41 Os que receberam a sua palavra foram batizados, e foram admitidas naquele dia quase três mil pessoas;

42 e perseveravam na doutrina dos apóstolos e na comunhão, no partir do pão e nas orações.

43 Em cada alma havia temor, e muitos prodígios e milagres eram feitos pelos apóstolos.

44 Todos os que criam, estavam unidos e tinham tudo em comum,

45 e vendiam as suas propriedades e bens e os repartiam por todos, conforme a necessidade de cada um.

46 Diariamente perseverando unânimes no templo, e partindo pão em casa, comiam com alegria e singeleza de coração,

47 louvando a Deus e tendo a simpatia de todo o povo. Todos os dias acrescentava-lhes o Senhor os que se iam salvando.
