1 Nowe after the tumult was appeased, Paul called the disciples vnto him, and embraced them, and departed to goe into Macedonia. 2 And when hee had gone through those parts, and had exhorted them with many words, he came into Grecia. 3 And hauing taried there three moneths, because the Iewes layde waite for him, as hee was about to saile into Syria, hee purposed to returne through Macedonia. 4 And there accompanied him into Asia, Sopater of Berea, and of them of Thessalonica, Aristarchus, and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus, and of them of Asia, Tychicus, and Trophimus. 5 These went before, and taried vs at Troas. 6 And we sailed forth from Philippi, after the dayes of vnleauened bread, and came vnto them to Troas in fiue dayes, where we abode seuen dayes. 7 And the first day of the weeke, the disciples being come together to breake bread, Paul preached vnto them, ready to depart on the morrow, and continued the preaching vnto midnight. 8 And there were many lightes in an vpper chamber, where they were gathered together. 9 And there sate in a windowe a certaine yong man, named Eutychus, fallen into a dead sleepe: and as Paul was long preaching, hee ouercome with sleepe, fell downe from the thirde loft, and was taken vp dead. 10 But Paul went downe, and layde himselfe vpon him, and embraced him, saying, Trouble not your selues: for his life is in him. 11 Then when Paul was come vp againe, and had broken bread, and eaten, hauing spoken a long while till the dawning of the day, hee so departed. 12 And they brought the boye aliue, and they were not a litle comforted. 13 Then we went before to shippe, and sailed vnto the citie Assos, that wee might receiue Paul there: for so had hee appointed, and would himselfe goe afoote. 14 Now when he was come vnto vs to Assos, and we had receiued him, we came to Mitylenes. 15 And wee sailed thence, and came the next day ouer against Chios, and the next day we arriued at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium: the next day we came to Miletum. 16 For Paul had determined to saile by Ephesus, because hee woulde not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted to be, if hee could possible, at Hierusalem, at the day of Pentecost. 17 Wherefore from Miletum, hee sent to Ephesus, and called the Elders of the Church. 18 Who when they were come to him, hee said vnto them, Ye know from the first day that I came into Asia, after what maner I haue bene with you at all seasons, 19 Seruing the Lord with all modestie, and with many teares, and tentations, which came vnto me by the layings awaite of the Iewes, 20 And how I kept backe nothing that was profitable, but haue shewed you, and taught you openly and throughout euery house, 21 Witnessing both to the Iewes, and to the Grecians the repentance towarde God, and faith toward our Lord Iesus Christ. 22 And nowe beholde, I goe bound in the Spirit vnto Hierusalem, and know not what things shall come vnto me there, 23 Saue that ye holy Ghost witnesseth in euery citie, saying, that bondes and afflictions abide me. 24 But I passe not at all, neither is my life deare vnto my selfe, so that I may fulfill my course with ioye, and the ministration which I haue receiued of the Lord Iesus, to testifie the Gospell of the grace of God. 25 And now behold, I know that henceforth ye all, through whome I haue gone preaching the kingdome of God, shall see my face no more. 26 Wherefore I take you to recorde this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. 27 For I haue kept nothing backe, but haue shewed you all the counsell of God. 28 Take heede therefore vnto your selues, and to all the flocke, whereof the holy Ghost hath made you Ouerseers, to feede the Church of God, which hee hath purchased with that his owne blood. 29 For I knowe this, that after my departing shall grieuous wolues enter in among you, not sparing the flocke. 30 Moreouer of your owne selues shall men arise speaking peruerse thinges, to drawe disciples after them. 31 Therefore watche, and remember, that by the space of three yeres I ceased not to warne euery one, both night and day with teares. 32 And nowe brethren, I commend you to God, and to the worde of his grace, which is able to build further, and to giue you an inheritance, among all them, which are sanctified. 33 I haue coueted no mans siluer, nor gold, nor apparell. 34 Yea, ye knowe, that these handes haue ministred vnto my necessities, and to them that were with me. 35 I haue shewed you all things, howe that so labouring, ye ought to support the weake, and to remember the wordes of the Lord Iesus, howe that hee saide, It is a blessed thing to giue, rather then to receiue. 36 And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled downe, and prayed with them all. 37 Then they wept all abundantly, and fell on Pauls necke, and kissed him, 38 Being chiefly sorie for the words which he spake, That they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him vnto the shippe.
1 Depois de cessar o tumulto, Paulo mandou chamar os discípulos e, tendo-os exortado, despediu-se e partiu para a Macedônia.
2 Depois de haver atravessado aquelas regiões e feito muitas exortações, foi a Grécia,
3 e passados três meses, determinou voltar pela Macedônia, por terem os judeus armado uma cilada contra ele, quando ia a embarcar para a Síria.
4 Acompanharam-no Sópatro de Beréia, filho de Pirro, e dos de Tessalônica, Aristarco e Secundo, e Gaio de Derbe, e Timóteo, e dos da Ásia, Tíquico e Trófimo;
5 estes, porém, foram adiante, e esperavam-nos em Trôade.
6 Nós, depois dos dias dos pães asmos, navegamos de Filipos, e em cinco dias fomos ter com eles em Trôade, onde nos demoramos sete dias.
7 No primeiro dia da semana, estando nós reunidos para partir o pão, Paulo, que havia de sair no dia seguinte, discutia com eles, e prolongou o seu discurso até a meia noite.
8 Havia muitas lâmpadas no cenáculo onde nos achávamos reunidos.
9 Um moço chamado Êutico, que estava sentado na janela, adormecendo profundamente enquanto Paulo prolongava mais o seu discurso, vencido pelo sono caiu do terceiro andar abaixo, e foi levantado morto.
10 Descendo Paulo, debruçou-se sobre ele e, abraçando-o, disse: Não façais alvoroço; pois a sua alma está nele.
11 Então subiu, partiu o pão e comeu, e falou-lhes largamente até o romper do dia; e assim se retirou.
12 Levaram o moço vivo, e ficaram muito consolados.
13 Nós, porém, tendo ido adiante a tomar a embarcação, navegamos para Assôs, com o intuito de ali receber a Paulo; pois assim tinha disposto, tencionando ele mesmo ir por terra.
14 Quando nos alcançou em Assôs, recebemo-lo abordo e fomos a Mitilene;
15 e navegando dali, chegamos no dia seguinte em frente a Quios, no outro tocamos em Samos, e um dia depois viemos a Mileto.
16 Paulo havia determinado não tocar em Éfeso, para não se demorar na Ásia; pois apressava-se para estar em Jerusalém no dia de Pentecostes, se possível lhe fosse.
17 De Mileto mandou a Éfeso chamar os presbíteros da igreja.
18 Quando eles chegaram, disse-lhes: Vós sabeis como me tenho portado convosco sempre, desde o primeiro dia em que entrei na Ásia,
19 servindo ao Senhor com toda a humildade, com lágrimas e com provações que me sobrevieram pelas ciladas dos judeus;
20 como não me esquivei de vos anunciar coisa alguma que era proveitosa e de vo-la ensinar publicamente, e de casa em casa,
21 testificando tanto a judeus como a gregos o arrependimento para com Deus e a fé em nosso Senhor Jesus.
22 Agora eis que, constrangido no meu espírito, vou a Jerusalém, não sabendo o que ali me acontecerá,
23 senão que o Espírito Santo me testifica de cidade em cidade que me esperam cadeias e tribulações.
24 Porém não tenho a minha vida como coisa preciosa a mim mesmo, contanto que complete a minha carreira e o ministério que recebi do Senhor Jesus, para dar testemunho do Evangelho da graça de Deus.
25 Agora eu sei que todos vós, por entre os quais passei proclamando o reino, não vereis mais a minha face.
26 Portanto vos protesto hoje que estou limpo do sangue de todos;
27 pois não me esquivei de vos anunciar todo o conselho de Deus.
28 Atendei por vós, e por todo o rebanho sobre o qual o Espírito Santo vos constituiu bispos, para apascentardes a igreja de Deus, a qual ele adquiriu com seu próprio sangue.
29 Eu sei que depois da minha partida virão a vós lobos ferozes que não pouparão o rebanho,
30 e que dentre vós mesmos surgirão homens, falando coisas perversas para atrair os discípulos após si.
31 Portanto vigiai, lembrando-vos que por três anos não cessei noite e dia de admoestar a cada um de vós com lágrimas.
32 Agora vos encomendo a Deus e à palavra da sua graça, àquele que é poderoso para vos edificar e dar herança entre todos os que são santificados.
33 De ninguém cobicei prata, nem ouro, nem vestes;
34 vós mesmos sabeis que estas mãos proveram as minhas necessidades e as dos que estavam comigo.
35 Em tudo vos dei o exemplo de que, assim trabalhando, é necessário socorrer os fracos e vos lembrar das palavras do Senhor Jesus, porquanto ele mesmo disse: Coisa mais bem-aventurada é dar do que receber.
36 Tendo dito estas coisas, ajoelhando-se, orou com todos eles.
37 Houve grande pranto entre todos e, lançando-se ao pescoço de Paulo, beijavam-no,
38 entristecendo-se, sobretudo, por haver ele dito que não veriam mais a sua face. E eles o acompanharam até o navio.
