OR questa fu la sorte della tribù de’ figliuoli di Giuda, per le lor nazioni: L’estremità del lor paese verso il Mezzodì fu il deserto di Sin, a’ confini di Edom, verso il Mezzodì. 
Così ebbero per confine dal Mezzodì, l’estremità del mar salso, dalla punta che riguarda verso il Mezzodì. 
E questo confine procedeva verso il Mezzodì, alla salita di Acrabbim, e passava fino a Sin; e dal Mezzodì saliva a Cades-barnea, e passava in Hesron; e di là saliva in Adar, e poi si volgeva verso Carcaa; 
poi passava verso Asmon, e si stendeva fino al Torrente di Egitto, e questo confine faceva capo al mare. Questo sarà, disse Giosuè, il vostro confine meridionale. 
E il confine orientale fu il mar salso, fino all’estremità del Giordano. E il confine dal lato settentrionale fu dalla punta di quel mare, la quale è all’estremità del Giordano. 
E questo confine saliva in Bet-hogla, e passava dal lato settentrionale di Bet-araba, e di là saliva al Sasso di Bohan Rubenita; 
poi saliva in Debir, dalla valle di Acor; e dal Settentrione riguardava verso Ghilgal, che è dirimpetto alla salita di Adummim, che è dal lato meridionale del torrente; poi questo confine passava alle acque di En-semes, e faceva capo ad En-roghel. 
Poi questo confine saliva alla valle de’ figliuoli di Hinnom, allato alla città de’ Gebusei, dal Mezzodì, la quale è Gerusalemme; e di là saliva alla sommità del monte, che è dirimpetto alla valle di Hinnom, verso l’Occidente, il quale è all’estremità della valle de’ Rafei, verso il Settentrione. 
Poi questo confine girava dalla sommità di quel monte, verso la fonte delle acque di Neftoa, e procedeva verso le città del monte di Efron; poi girava verso Baala, che è Chiriat-iearim. 
Poi questo confine si volgeva da Baala verso Occidente, al monte di Seir, e passava fino allato al monte di Iearim dal Settentrione, nel luogo detto Chesalon; poi scendeva in Bet-semes, e passava in Timna. 
Poi questo confine procedeva al canto di Ecron, verso il Settentrione, e girava verso Siccheron, e passava al monte Baala, e si stendeva fino a Iabneel, e faceva capo al mare. 
E il confine dall’Occidente era il mar grande, e i confini. Questi furono i confini de’ figliuoli di Giuda d’ogni intorno, secondo le lor nazioni 
Or Giosuè avea data a Caleb, figliuolo di Gefunne, una porzione nel mezzo dei figliuoli di Giuda, secondo il comandamento fattogli dal Signore, cioè: Chiriat-Arba, il quale Arba fu padre di Anac; essa è Hebron. 
E Caleb scacciò di là i tre figliuoli di Anac, Sesai, ed Ahiman, e Talmai, nati di Anac. 
E di là egli salì agli abitanti di Debir, il cui nome per addietro era stato Chiriat-sefer. 
E Caleb disse: Chi percoterà Chiriat-sefer, e la prenderà, io gli darò Asca, mia figliuola, per moglie. 
E Otniel, figliuolo di Chenaz, fratello di Caleb, la prese; e Caleb gli diede Acsa, sua figliuola, per moglie. 
E quando ella venne a marito, indusse Otniel a domandare un campo a suo padre; poi ella si gittò giù d’in su l’asino; e Caleb le disse: Che hai? 
Ed ella disse: Fammi un dono; conciossiachè tu m’abbi data una terra asciutta, dammi anche delle fonti d’acque. Ed egli le donò delle fonti ch’erano disopra, e delle fonti ch’erano disotto 
Quest’è l’eredità della tribù de’ figliuoli di Giuda, secondo le lor nazioni. 
Nell’estremità della contrada della tribù de’ figliuoli di Giuda, a’ confini di Edom, verso il Mezzodì, v’erano queste città: Cabseel, ed Eder, e Iagur; 
e China, e Dimona, e Adada; 
e Chedes, e Hasor, e Itnan; 
e Zif, e Telem, e Bealot; 
e Hasor-hadatta e Cheriot Hesron è Hasor; 
e Amam e Sema, e Molada; 
e Hasar-gadda, e Hesmon, e Betpelet; 
e Hasar-sual, e Beerseba, e Biziotia; e Baala, e Iim, ed Esem; 
ed Eltolad, e Chesil, e Horma; 
e Siclag, e Madmanna, 
e Sansanna; 
e Labaot, e Silhim, e Ain, e Rimmon; in tutto ventinove città, con le lor villate. 
Nella pianura v’erano queste città: Estaol, e Sorea, e Asna; 
e Zanoa, ed En-gannim, e Tappua, ed Enam; 
e Iarmut, e Adullam, e Soco, e Azeca; 
e Saaraim, e Aditaim, e Ghedera, e Ghederotaim; quattordici città, con le lor villate. 
Poi Senan, e Hadasa, e Migdal-Gad; 
e Dilan, e Mispe, e Iocteel; 
e Lachis, e Boscat, ed Eglon; 
e Cabbon, e Lamas, e Chitlis; 
e Ghederot, e Bet-Dagon, e Naama, e Maccheda; sedici città con le lor villate. 
Poi Libna, ed Eter, e Asan; 
e Ifta, e Asna, e Nesib; 
e Cheila, e Aczib, e Maresa; nove città, con le lor villate; 
poi Ecron, e le terre del suo territorio, e le sue villate; 
da Ecron, e verso il mare, tutte le città che sono presso di Asdod, con le lor villate. 
Poi Asdod, e le terre del suo territorio, e le sue villate; Gaza, e le terre del suo territorio, e le sue villate, infino al Torrente di Egitto, e al mar grande, e i confini. 
E nel monte v’erano queste città: Samir, e Iattir, e Soco; 
e Danna, e Chiriat-sanna, che è Debir; 
e Anab, ed Estemo, e Anim; 
e Gosen, e Holon, e Ghilo; undici città, con le lor villate. 
Poi Arab, e Duma, ed Esan; 
e Ianum, e Bet-tappua, e Afeca; 
e Humta, e Chiriat-Arba, che è Hebron, e Sior; nove città, con le lor villate. 
Poi Maon, e Carmel, e Zif, e Iuta; 
e Izreel, e Iocdeam, e Zanoa; 
e Cain, e Ghibea, e Timna; dieci città, con le lor villate; 
poi Halhul, e Bet-sur, e Ghedor; 
e Maarat, e Bet-anot, ed Eltecon; sei città, con le lor villate. 
Poi Chiriat-baal, che è Chiriat-iearim, e Rabba; due città, con le lor villate. 
Nel deserto v’erano queste città: Bet-araba, e Middin, e Secaca; 
e Nibsan, e la Città del sale, ed Enghedi; sei città, con le lor villate. 
Or i figliuoli di Giuda non poterono scacciare i Gebusei che abitavano in Gerusalemme; perciò i Gebusei son dimorati in Gerusalemme co’ figliuoli di Giuda, infino a questo giorno 

And the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families was: to the border of Edom, the wilderness of Zin, southward, in the extreme south. 
And their southern border was from the end of the salt sea, from the tongue that turns southward; 
and it went out south of the ascent of Akrabbim, and passed on to Zin, and went up on the south of Kadesh-barnea, and passed to Hezron, and went up toward Addar, and turned toward Karkaah, 
and passed on to Azmon, and went out by the torrent of Egypt; and the border ended at the sea. That shall be your border southward. 
-And the eastern border was the salt sea as far as the end of the Jordan. -And the border on the north side was from the tongue of the salt sea, at the end of the Jordan; 
and the border went up toward Beth-hoglah, and passed north of Beth-Arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan, the son of Reuben; 
and the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and turned northward to Gilgal, which is opposite to the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the torrent; and the border passed to the waters of En-shemesh, and ended at En-rogel; 
and the border went up to the valley of the son of Hinnom, toward the south side of the Jebusite, that is, Jerusalem; and the border went up to the top of the mountain that is before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of Rephaim northward; 
and the border reached along from the top of the mountain toward the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, and went out toward the cities of mount Ephron; and the border reached along to Baalah, that is, Kirjath-jearim; 
and the border turned from Baalah westwards toward mount Seir, and passed toward the side of Har-jearim, that is, Chesalon, northwards, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed Timnah. 
And the border went out to the side of Ekron northwards, and the border reached along toward Shicron, and passed mount Baalah, and went toward Jabneel; and the border ended at the sea. 
-And the west border is the great sea and {its} coast. This is the border of the children of Judah round about, according to their families. 
And to Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a portion among the children of Judah according to the commandment of Jehovah to Joshua, the city of Arba, the father of Anak, that is, Hebron. 
And thence Caleb dispossessed the three sons of Anak, Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, who were born of Anak. 
And from there he went up against the inhabitants of Debir; now the name of Debir before was Kirjath-sepher. 
And Caleb said, He that smites Kirjath-sepher and takes it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife. 
And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it; and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife. 
And it came to pass as she came, that she urged him to ask of her father a field; and she sprang down from the ass. And Caleb said to her, What wouldest thou? 
And she said, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a southern land; give me also springs of water. Then he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs. 
This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families. 
The cities at the extremity of the tribe of the children of Judah, toward the border of Edom in the south, were: Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur, 
and Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah, 
and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Jithnan, 
Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth, 
and Hazor-hadattah, and Kerioth-Hezron, that is Hazor, 
Amam, and Shema, and Molada, 
and Hazar-gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-Pelet, 
and Hazar-Shual, and Beer-sheba, and Biziothiah; 
Baalah, and Ijim, and Ezem, 
and Eltolad, and Chesil, and Hormah, 
and Ziklag, and Madmannah, and Sansanna, 
and Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon: all the cities twenty-nine, and their hamlets. 
-In the lowland: Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah, 
and Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah and Enam, 
Jarmuth and Adullam, Sochoh and Azekah, 
and Shaaraim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim: fourteen cities and their hamlets. 
Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdal-Gad, 
and Dilean, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel, 
Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon, 
and Cabbon, and Lahmas, and Chithlish, 
and Gederoth, Beth-Dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah: sixteen cities and their hamlets. 
Libna, and Ether, and Ashan, 
and Jiphthah, and Ashnah, and Nezib, 
and Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah: nine cities and their hamlets. 
Ekron and its dependent villages and its hamlets. 
From Ekron and westward all that are by the side of Ashdod, and their hamlets. 
Ashdod, its dependent villages and its hamlets; Gazah, its dependent villages and its hamlets, as far as the torrent of Egypt, and the great sea and {its} coast. 
-And in the hill-country: Shamir, and Jattir, and Sochoh, 
and Dannah, and Kirjath-sannah, that is, Debir, 
and Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim, 
and Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh: eleven cities and their hamlets. 
Arab, and Dumah, and Eshan, 
and Janum, and Beth-Tappuah, and Aphekah, 
and Humtah, and Kirjath-Arba, that is, Hebron, and Zior: nine cities and their hamlets. 
Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Jutah, 
and Jizreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah, 
Kain, Gibeah and Timnah: ten cities and their hamlets. 
Halhul, Beth-Zur, and Gedor, 
and Maarath, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon: six cities and their hamlets. 
Kirjath-Baal, that is, Kirjath-jearim, and Rabbah: two cities and their hamlets. 
-In the wilderness: Beth-Arabah, Middin, and Secacah, 
and Nibshan, and Ir-Hammelah, and En-gedi: six cities and their hamlets. 
But as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not dispossess them; and the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.
