Jó 16

1 Then Job answered and said, 2 I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.*16.2 miserable: or, troublesome 3 Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?*16.3 vain…: Heb. words of wind 4 I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul’s stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you. 5 But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.

6 Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?*16.6 what…: Heb. what goeth from me? 7 But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company. 8 And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face. 9 He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me. 10 They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me. 11 God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.*16.11 hath…: Heb. hath shut me up 12 I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark. 13 His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground. 14 He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant. 15 I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust. 16 My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;

17 Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure. 18 O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place. 19 Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.*16.19 on high: Heb. in the high places 20 My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.*16.20 scorn me: Heb. are my scorners 21 O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!*16.21 neighbour: or, friend 22 When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.*16.22 a few…: Heb. years of number

1 A odpovídaje Job, řekl: 2 Slyšel jsem již podobných věcí mnoho; všickni vy nepříjemní jste těšitelé. 3 Bude-liž kdy konec slovům povětrným? Aneb co tě popouzí, že tak mluvíš? 4 Zdaliž bych já tak mluviti mohl, jako vy, kdybyste byli na místě mém? Shromažďoval-li bych proti vám slova, aneb potřásal na vás hlavou svou? 5 Nýbrž posiloval bych vás ústy svými, a otvírání rtů mých krotilo by bolest. 6 Buď že mluvím, neumenšuje se bolesti mé, buď že tak nechám, neodchází ode mne. 7 Ale ustavičně zemdlívá mne; nebo jsi mne, ó Bože, zbavil všeho shromáždění mého. 8 A vrásky jsi mi zdělal; což mám za svědka, ano patrná na mně hubenost má na tváři mé to osvědčuje. 9 Prchlivost jeho zachvátila mne, a vzal mne v nenávist, škřipě na mne zuby svými; jako nepřítel můj zaostřil oči své na mne. 10 Rozedřeli na mne ústa svá, potupně mne poličkujíce, proti mně se shromáždivše. 11 Vydal mne Bůh silný nešlechetníku, a v ruce bezbožných uvedl mne. 12 Pokoje jsem užíval, však potřel mne, a uchopiv mne za šíji mou, roztříštil mne, a vystavil mne sobě za cíl. 13 Obklíčili mne střelci jeho, rozťal ledví má beze vší lítosti, a vylil na zem žluč mou. 14 Ranil mne ranou na ránu, outok učinil na mne jako silný. 15 Žíni jsem ušil na zjízvenou kůži svou, a zohavil jsem v prachu sílu svou. 16 Tvář má oduřavěla od pláče, a na víčkách mých stín smrti jest. 17 Ne pro nějaké bezpraví v rukou mých; nebo i modlitba má čistá jest. 18 Ó země, nepřikrývej krve mé, a nechť nemá místa volání mé. 19 Aj, nyní jestiť i v nebesích svědek můj, svědek můj, pravím, jest na výsostech. 20 Ó mudráci moji, přátelé moji, k Bohuť slzí oko mé. 21 Ó by lze bylo muži v hádku s ním se vydati, jako synu člověka s přítelem svým. 22 Nebo léta mně odečtená přicházejí, a cestou, kterouž se zase nenavrátím, již se beru.
