1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. 8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. 20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. 21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. 22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: 23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. 25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

1 Portanto, já que vocês ressuscitaram com Cristo, dediquem‑se às coisas que são do alto, onde Cristo está, assentado à direita de Deus. 2 Pensem nas coisas do alto, não nas coisas da terra. 3 Pois vocês morreram, e a vida de vocês está escondida com Cristo em Deus. 4 Quando Cristo, que é a vida de vocês,* se manifestar, então vocês também serão manifestos com ele em glória.

5 Portanto, façam morrer tudo o que pertence à natureza terrena de vocês: imoralidade sexual, impureza, paixão, desejos maus e a cobiça, que é idolatria. 6 É por causa dessas coisas que vem a ira de Deus sobre os que vivem na desobediência,*7 as quais vocês praticaram no passado, quando costumavam viver nelas. 8 Agora, porém, abandonem todas estas coisas: ira, indignação, maldade, calúnia e linguagem indecente no falar. 9 Não mintam uns aos outros, uma vez que vocês já se despiram do velho homem* com as suas práticas 10 e se vestiram do novo, o qual está sendo renovado em conhecimento à imagem do seu Criador. 11 Nesta nova vida, não há diferença entre grego e judeu, circunciso e incircunciso, bárbaro* e cita,* escravo e livre, mas Cristo é tudo e está em todos.

12 Portanto, como escolhidos de Deus, santos e amados, vistam‑se de profunda compaixão, bondade, humildade, mansidão e paciência. 13 Suportem uns aos outros e perdoem as queixas que tiverem uns contra os outros. Perdoem como o Senhor os perdoou. 14 Sobre todas essas coisas, porém, vistam‑se do amor, que é o elo perfeito.

15 A paz de Cristo deve ser o juiz no coração de vocês, visto que foram chamados para viver em paz, como membros de um só corpo — e sejam agradecidos. 16 Que a palavra de Cristo habite plenamente em vocês. Ensinem e aconselhem uns aos outros com toda a sabedoria; cantem salmos, hinos e cânticos espirituais a Deus com gratidão no coração. 17 Tudo o que fizerem, seja em palavra, seja em ação, façam‑no em nome do Senhor Jesus, dando graças a Deus Pai por meio dele.

18 Esposas, cada uma de vocês deve se sujeitar ao seu marido, como convém a quem está no Senhor.

19 Maridos, cada um de vocês deve amar a sua esposa e não deve tratá‑la com amargura.

20 Filhos, obedeçam aos seus pais em todas as coisas, pois isso agrada ao Senhor.

21 Pais, não irritem os seus filhos, para que eles não desanimem.

22 Escravos, obedeçam em tudo aos seus senhores terrenos, não somente para agradar‑lhes quando estão observando, mas com sinceridade de coração, pelo fato de vocês temerem ao Senhor. 23 Tudo o que fizerem, façam de todo o coração, como para o Senhor, não para os homens, 24 sabendo que receberão do Senhor a recompensa da herança, pois é a Cristo, o Senhor, a quem vocês servem. 25 Quem cometer injustiça receberá de volta injustiça, e nisso não há favoritismo.
