1 Et David et les Chefs de l'armée mirent à part pour le service, d'entre les enfants d'Asaph, d'Héman, et de Jéduthun, ceux qui prophétisaient avec des violons, des musettes, et des cymbales; et ceux d'entr'eux qui furent dénombrés étaient des hommes propres pour être employés au service qu'ils devaient faire,
2 Des enfants d'Asaph; Zaccur, Joseph, Néthania, et Asarela, enfants d'Asaph, sous la conduite d'Asaph, qui prophétisait par la commission du Roi.
3 De Jéduthun; les six enfants de Jéduthun, Guédalia, Tséri, Esaïe, Hasabia, Mattitia, [et Simhi], jouaient du violon, sous la conduite de leur père Jéduthun, qui prophétisait en célébrant et louant l'Eternel.
4 D'Héman; les enfants d'Héman, Bukkija, Mattania, Huziël, Sébuël, Jérimoth, Hanania, Hanani, Elijatha, Guiddalti, Romamti-hézer, Josbekasa, Malloth, Hothir, Mahazioth.
5 Tous ceux-là étaient enfants d'Héman, le voyant du Roi dans les paroles de Dieu, pour en exalter la puissance; car Dieu donna à Héman quatorze fils et trois filles.
6 Tous ceux-là étaient employés sous la conduite de leurs pères, aux cantiques de la maison de l'Eternel, avec des cymbales, des musettes, et des violons, dans le service de la maison de Dieu, selon la commission du Roi [donnée à] Asaph, à Jéduthun, et à Héman.
7 Et leur nombre avec leurs frères, auxquels on avait enseigné les cantiques de l'Eternel, était de deux cent quatre-vingt et huit, tous fort intelligents.
8 Et ils jetèrent leurs sorts [touchant leur] charge en mettant [les uns contre les autres], les plus petits étant égalés aux plus grands, et les docteurs aux disciples.
9 Et le premier sort échut à Asaph, [savoir] à Joseph. Le second à Guédalia; et lui, ses frères, et ses fils étaient douze.
10 Le troisième à Zaccur; lui, ses fils et ses frères étaient douze.
11 Le quatrième à Jitsri; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
12 Le cinquième à Néthania; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
13 Le sixième à Bukkija; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
14 Le septième à Jésarela; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
15 Le huitième à Esaïe; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
16 Le neuvième à Mattania; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
17 Le dixième à Simhi; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
18 L'onzième à Hazaréël; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
19 Le douzième à Hasabia; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
20 Le treizième à Subaël; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
21 Le quatorzième à Mattitia; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
22 Le quinzième à Jérémoth; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
23 Le seizième à Hanania; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
24 Le dix-septième à Josbekasa; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
25 Le dix-huitième à Hanani; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
26 Le dix-neuvième à Malloth; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
27 Le vingtième à Elijatha; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
28 Le vingt et unième à Hothir; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
29 Le vingt et deuxième à Guiddalti; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
30 Le vingt et troisième à Mahazioth; lui, ses fils, et ses frères étaient douze.
31 Le vingt et quatrième à Romamti-hézer; lui, ses fils et ses frères étaient douze.
1 Further, David and the chiefs of the servants of the holy place made selection of certain of the sons of Asaph and of Heman and of Jeduthun for the work of prophets, to make melody with corded instruments and brass; and the number of the men for the work they had to do was:
2 Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur and Joseph and Nethaniah and Asharelah, sons of Asaph; under the direction of Asaph, acting as a prophet under the orders of the king;
3 Of Jeduthun: the six sons of Jeduthun, Gedaliah and Zeri and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah and Mattithiah; under the direction of their father Jeduthun who, acting as a prophet, with corded instruments gave praise and glory to the Lord.
4 Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth;
5 All these were sons of Heman, the king's seer in the words of God. And to make great his power God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
6 All these, under the direction of their father, made music in the house of the Lord, with brass and corded instruments, for the worship of the house of God; Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman being under the orders of the king.
7 And the number of them, with their brothers who were trained and expert in making melody to the Lord, was two hundred and eighty-eight.
8 And selection was made of them for their special work, all having equal chances, small as well as great, the teacher as the learner.
9 Now of the group of Asaph, the first name to come out was Joseph; the second Gedaliah; he and his brothers and sons were twelve?
10 The third Zaccur, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
11 The fourth Izri, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
12 The fifth Nethaniah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
13 The sixth Bukkiah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
14 The seventh Jesharelah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
15 The eighth Jeshaiah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
16 The ninth Mattaniah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
17 The tenth Shimei, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
18 The eleventh Azarel, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
19 The twelfth Hashabiah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
20 The thirteenth Shubael, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
21 The fourteenth Mattithiah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
22 The fifteenth Jeremoth, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
23 The sixteenth Hananiah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
24 The seventeenth Joshbekashah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
25 The eighteenth Hanani, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
26 The nineteenth Mallothi, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
27 The twentieth Eliathah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
28 The twenty-first Hothir, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
29 The twenty-second Giddalti, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
30 The twenty-third Mahazioth, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;
31 The twenty-fourth Romamti-ezer, with his sons and his brothers, twelve.
