1 Or ce sont ici les générations d'Esaü, qui [est] Edom.
2 Esaü prit ses femmes d'entre les filles de Canaan : savoir Hada fille d'Elon Héthien, et Aholibama fille de Hana, [petite-]fille de Tsibhon Hévien.
3 Il prit aussi Basmath fille d'Ismaël, sœur de Nébajoth.
4 Et Hada enfanta à Esaü Eliphaz; et Basmath enfanta Réhuel.
5 Et Aholibama enfanta Jéhus, et Jahlam, et Korah. Ce sont là les enfants d'Esaü, qui lui naquirent au pays de Canaan.
6 Et Esaü prit ses femmes et ses fils, et ses filles, et toutes les personnes de sa maison, tous ses troupeaux, et ses bêtes, et tout le bien qu'il avait acquis au pays de Canaan, et il s'en alla en un autre pays, loin de Jacob son frère.
7 Car leurs biens étaient si grands, qu'ils n'auraient pas pu demeurer ensemble; et le pays où ils demeuraient comme étrangers, ne les eût pas pu contenir à cause de leurs troupeaux.
8 Ainsi Esaü habita en la montagne de Séhir; Esaü est Edom.
9 Et ce sont ici les générations d'Esaü, père d'Edom, en la montagne de Séhir.
10 Ce sont ici les noms des enfants d'Esaü : Eliphaz fils de Hada, femme d'Esaü; Réhuel fils de Basmath, femme d'Esaü.
11 Et les enfants d'Eliphaz, furent Téman, Omar, Tsépho, Gahtam et Kénaz.
12 Et Timnaph fut concubine d'Eliphaz, fils d'Esaü, et elle enfanta Hamalec à Eliphaz. Ce sont là les enfants de Hada femme d'Esaü.
13 Et ce sont ici les enfants de Réhuel : Nahath, Zérah, Samma, et Miza. Ceux-ci furent enfants de Basmath femme d'Esaü.
14 Et ceux-ci furent les enfants d'Aholibama, fille de Hana, [petite-]fille de Tsibhon, et femme d'Esaü, qui enfanta à Esaü Jéhus, Jahlam, et Korah.
15 Ce sont ici les Ducs des enfants d'Esaü. Des enfants d'Eliphaz premier-né d'Esaü, le Duc Téman, le Duc Omar, le Duc Tsépho, le Duc Kénaz,
16 Le Duc Korah, le Duc Gahtam, le Duc Hamalec. Ce sont là les Ducs d'Eliphaz au pays d'Edom, qui furent enfants de Hada.
17 Et ce sont ici ceux des enfants de Réhuel fils d'Esaü : le Duc Nahath, le Duc Zérah, le Duc Samma, et le Duc Miza. Ce sont là les Ducs [sortis] de Réhuel au pays d'Edom, qui furent enfants de Basmath femme d'Esaü.
18 Et ce sont ici ceux des enfants d'Aholibama femme d'Esaü : le Duc Jéhus, le Duc Jahlam, le Duc Korah; qui sont les Ducs [sortis] d'Aholibama fille de Hana, femme d'Esaü.
19 Ce sont là les enfants d'Esaü, qui est Edom, et ce [sont] là leurs Ducs.
20 Ce sont ici les enfants de Séhir Horien, qui avaient habité au pays, Lotan, Sobal, Tsibhon, et Hana.
21 Dison, Etser, et Disan; qui sont les Ducs des Horiens, enfants de Séhir au pays d'Edom.
22 Et les enfants de Lotan, furent Hori et Héman; et Timnah était sœur de Lotan.
23 Et ce sont ici les enfants de Sobal : Halvan, Manahath, Hébal, Sépho, et Onam.
24 Et ce sont ici les enfants de Tsibhon : Aja et Hana. Cet Hana est celui qui trouva les mulets au désert, quand il paissait les ânes de Tsibhon son père.
25 Et ce sont ici les enfants de Hana : Disan, et Aholibama fille de Hana.
26 Et ce sont ici les enfants de Disan : Hemdan, Esban, Jithran, et Kéran.
27 Et ce sont ici les enfants d'Etser : Bilhan, Zahavan, et Hakan.
28 Et ce sont ici les enfants de Disan : Huts et Aran.
29 Ce sont ici les Ducs des Horiens : le Duc Lotan, le Duc Sobal, le Duc Tsibhon, le Duc Hana.
30 Le Duc Dison, le Duc Etser, le Duc Disan. Ce sont là les Ducs des Horiens, selon que leurs Ducs étaient [établis] au pays de Séhir.
31 Et ce sont ici les Rois qui ont régné au pays d'Edom, avant qu'aucun Roi régnât sur les enfants d'Israël.
32 Bélah, fils de Béhor, régna en Edom, et le nom de sa ville était Dinhaba.
33 Et Bélah mourut, et Jobab fils de Zérah de Botsra, régna en sa place.
34 Et Jobab mourut, et Husam du pays des Témanites, régna en sa place.
35 Et Husam mourut, et Hadad fils de Bédad régna en sa place, qui défit Madian au territoire de Moab ; et le nom de sa ville était Havith.
36 Et Hadad mourut, et Samla de Masréka régna en sa place.
37 Et Samla mourut, et Saül de Réhoboth du fleuve, régna en sa place.
38 Et Saül mourut, et Bahal-hanan fils de Hacbor régna en sa place.
39 Et Bahal-hanan fils de Hacbor mourut, et Hadar régna en sa place; et le nom de sa ville [était] Pahu; et le nom de sa femme Méhétabéel, fille de Matred, [petite-]fille de Mézahab.
40 Et ce sont ici les noms des Ducs d'Esaü selon leurs familles, selon leurs lieux, selon leurs noms : le Duc Timnah, le Duc Halva, le Duc Jéteth.
41 Le Duc Aholibama, le Duc Ela, le Duc Pinon.
42 Le Duc Kénaz, le Duc Téman, le Duc Mibtsar,
43 Le Duc Magdiel, et le Duc Hiram. Ce sont là les Ducs d'Edom selon leurs demeures du pays de leur possession. C'est Esaü le père d'Edom.
1 Now these are the generations of Esau, that is to say, Edom.
2 Esau's wives were women of Canaan: Adah, the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite,
3 And Basemath, Ishmael's daughter, the sister of Nebaioth.
4 Adah had a son Eliphaz; and Basemath was the mother of Reuel;
5 Oholibamah was the mother of Jeush, Jalam, and Korah; these are the sons of Esau, whose birth took place in the land of Canaan.
6 Esau took his wives and his sons and his daughters, and all the people of his house, and his beasts and his cattle and all his goods which he had got together in the land of Canaan, and went into the land of Seir, away from his brother Jacob.
7 For their wealth was so great that the land was not wide enough for the two of them and all their cattle.
8 So Esau made his living-place in the hill-country of Seir (Esau is Edom).
9 And these are the generations of Esau, the father of the Edomites in the hill-country of Seir:
10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz, the son of Esau's wife Adah, and Reuel, the son of Esau's wife Basemath.
11 The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.
12 And Eliphaz, the son of Esau, had connection with a woman named Timna, who gave birth to Amalek: all these were the children of Esau's wife Adah.
13 And these are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: they were the children of Esau's wife Basemath.
14 And these are the sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon: she was the mother of Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
15 These were the chiefs among the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz, Esau's first son: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz,
16 Korah, Gatam, Amalek: all these were chiefs in the land of Edom, the offspring of Eliphaz, the seed of Adah.
17 And these are the sons of Esau's son Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, Mizzah: these were the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom, the children of Esau's wife Basemath.
18 And these are the sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah: these were the chiefs who came from Esau's wife Oholibamah, daughter of Anah.
19 These were the sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and these were their chiefs.
20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite who were living in that country; Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
21 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan: these are the chiefs of the Horites, offspring of Seir in the land of Edom.
22 The children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; Lotan's sister was Timna.
23 And these are the children of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
24 And these are the children of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah; that same Anah who made the discovery of the water-springs in the waste land, when he was looking after the asses of his father Zibeon.
25 And these are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah his daughter.
26 These are the children of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Keran.
27 These are the children of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.
28 These are the children of Dishan: Uz and Aran.
29 These were the Horite chiefs: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,
30 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. Such were the Horite chiefs in their order in the land of Seir.
31 And these are the kings who were ruling in the land of Edom before there was any king over the children of Israel.
32 Bela, son of Beor, was king in Edom, and the name of his chief town was Dinhabah.
33 At his death, Jobab, son of Zerah of Bozrah, became king in his place.
34 And at the death of Jobab, Husham, from the country of the Temanites, became king in his place.
35 And at the death of Husham, Hadad, son of Bedad, who overcame the Midianites in the field of Moab, became king; his chief town was named Avith.
36 And at the death of Hadad, Samlah of Masrekah became king.
37 And at the death of Samlah, Shaul of Rehoboth by the River became king in his place.
38 And at the death of Shaul, Baal-hanan, son of Achbor, became king.
39 And at the death of Baal-hanan, Hadar became king in his place; his chief town was named Pau, and his wife's name was Mehetabel; she was the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-zahab.
40 These are the names of the chiefs of Esau in the order of their families and their places: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,
41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,
43 Magdiel, Iram; these are the Edomite chiefs, in their places in their heritage; this is Esau, the father of the Edomites.
