1 Puis il se mit à leur dire par une parabole : Quelqu'un, [dit-il], planta une vigne, et l'environna d'une haie, et il y creusa une fosse pour un pressoir, et y bâtit une tour; puis il la loua à des vignerons, et s'en alla dehors.
2 Or en la saison des raisins il envoya un serviteur aux vignerons, pour recevoir d'eux du fruit de la vigne.
3 Mais eux le prenant, le battirent, et le renvoyèrent à vide.
4 Il leur envoya encore un autre serviteur; et eux lui jetant des pierres, lui meurtrirent la tête, et le renvoyèrent, après l'avoir honteusement traité.
5 Il en envoya encore un autre, lequel ils tuèrent; et plusieurs autres, desquels ils battirent les uns, et tuèrent les autres.
6 Mais ayant encore un Fils, son bien-aimé, il le leur envoya aussi pour le dernier, disant : ils respecteront mon Fils.
7 Mais ces vignerons dirent entre eux : c'est ici l'héritier, venez, tuons-le, et l'héritage sera nôtre.
8 L'ayant donc pris, ils le tuèrent, et le jetèrent hors de la vigne.
9 Que fera donc le Seigneur de la vigne? il viendra, et fera périr ces vignerons, et donnera la vigne à d'autres.
10 Et n'avez-vous point lu cette Ecriture? La pierre que ceux qui bâtissaient ont rejetée, est devenue la maîtresse pierre du coin;
11 Ceci a été fait par le Seigneur, et c'est une chose merveilleuse devant nos yeux.
12 Alors ils tâchèrent de le saisir, mais ils craignirent le peuple; car ils connurent qu'il avait dit cette similitude contre eux; c'est pourquoi le laissant, ils s'en allèrent.
13 Mais ils lui envoyèrent quelques-uns des Pharisiens et des Hérodiens, pour le surprendre dans ses discours;
14 Lesquels étant venus, lui dirent : Maître, nous savons que tu es véritable, et que tu ne considères personne; car tu n'as point d'égard à l'apparence des hommes, mais tu enseignes la voie de Dieu selon la vérité; est-il permis de payer le tribut à César, ou non? le payerons-nous, ou si nous ne le payerons-nous point?
15 Mais [Jésus] connaissant leur hypocrisie, leur dit : pourquoi me tentez-vous? apportez-moi un denier, que je le voie.
16 Et ils le lui présentèrent. Alors il leur dit : de qui est cette image, et cette inscription? ils lui répondirent : de César.
17 Et Jésus répondant leur dit : rendez à César les choses qui sont à César, et à Dieu celles qui sont à Dieu; et ils en furent étonnés.
18 Alors les Saducéens, qui disent qu'il n'y a point de résurrection, vinrent à lui, et l'interrogèrent, disant :
19 Maître, Moïse nous a laissé par écrit : que si le frère de quelqu'un est mort, et a laissé sa femme, et n'a point laissé d'enfants, son frère prenne sa femme, et qu'il suscite lignée à son frère.
20 Or il y avait sept frères, dont l'aîné prit une femme, et mourant ne laissa point d'enfants.
21 Et le second la prit, et mourut, et lui aussi ne laissa point d'enfants; et le troisième tout de même.
22 Les sept donc la prirent, et ne laissèrent point d'enfants; la femme aussi mourut, la dernière de tous.
23 En la résurrection donc, quand ils seront ressuscités, duquel sera-t-elle la femme? car les sept l'ont eue pour leur femme.
24 Et Jésus répondant leur dit : la raison pour laquelle vous tombez dans l'erreur, c'est que vous ne connaissez point les Ecritures, ni la puissance de Dieu.
25 Car quand ils seront ressuscités des morts, ils ne prendront point de femme, et on ne leur donnera point de femmes en mariage, mais ils seront comme les Anges qui sont aux cieux.
26 Et quant aux morts, [pour vous montrer] qu'ils ressuscitent, n'avez-vous point lu dans le Livre de Moïse, comment Dieu lui parla dans le buisson, en disant : je suis le Dieu d'Abraham, et le Dieu d'Isaac, et le Dieu de Jacob?
27 [Or] il n'est pas le Dieu des morts, mais le Dieu des vivants. Vous êtes donc dans une grande erreur.
28 Et quelqu'un des Scribes qui les avait ouïs disputer, voyant qu'il leur avait bien répondu, s'approcha de lui, et lui demanda : quel est le premier de tous les Commandements?
29 Et Jésus lui répondit : le premier de tous les Commandements est : écoute Israël, le Seigneur notre Dieu est le seul Seigneur;
30 Et tu aimeras le Seigneur ton Dieu de tout ton cœur, de toute ton âme, de toute ta pensée, et de toute ta force. C'est là le premier Commandement.
31 Et le second, qui est semblable au premier, est celui-ci : tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même. Il n'y a point d'autre Commandement plus grand que ceux-ci.
32 Et le Scribe lui dit : Maître, tu as bien dit selon la vérité, qu'il y a un seul Dieu, et qu'il n'y en a point d'autre que lui;
33 Et que de l'aimer de tout son cœur, de toute son intelligence, de toute son âme, et de toute sa force; et d'aimer son prochain comme soi-même, c'est plus que tous les holocaustes et les sacrifices.
34 Et Jésus voyant que [ce Scribe] avait répondu prudemment, lui dit : tu n'es pas loin du Royaume de Dieu. Et personne n'osait plus l'interroger.
35 Et comme Jésus enseignait dans le Temple, il prit la parole, et il dit : comment disent les Scribes que le Christ est le Fils de David?
36 Car David lui-même a dit par le Saint-Esprit : le Seigneur a dit à mon Seigneur : assieds-toi à ma droite, jusqu'a ce que j'aie mis tes ennemis pour le marchepied de tes pieds.
37 Puis donc que David lui-même l'appelle [son] Seigneur, comment est-il son fils? Et de grandes troupes prenaient plaisir à l'entendre.
38 Il leur disait aussi en les enseignant : donnez vous garde des Scribes, qui prennent plaisir à se promener en robes longues, et [qui aiment] les salutations dans les marchés.
39 Et les premiers sièges dans les Synagogues, et les premières places dans les festins;
40 Qui dévorent entièrement les maisons des veuves, même sous le prétexte de faire de longues prières. Ils en recevront une plus grande condamnation.
41 Et Jésus étant assis vis-à-vis du tronc prenait garde comment le peuple mettait de l'argent au tronc.
42 Et plusieurs riches y mettaient beaucoup; et une pauvre veuve vint, qui y mit deux petites pièces, qui font la quatrième partie d'un sou.
43 Et [Jésus] ayant appelé ses Disciples, il leur dit : en vérité je vous dis, que cette pauvre veuve a plus mis au tronc que tous ceux qui y ont mis.
44 Car tous y ont mis de leur superflu; mais celle-ci y a mis de son indigence tout ce qu'elle avait, toute sa subsistance.
1 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and dug a place for the winepress, and built a tower, and let it out to tenants, and went into a far country.
2 And at the season time he sent to the tenants a servant, that he might receive from the tenants of the fruit of the vineyard.
3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty handed.
4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.
5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.
6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will respect my son.
7 But those tenants said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the tenants, and will give the vineyard unto others.
10 And have you not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner:
11 This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?
12 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
13 And they sent unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.
14 And when they were come, they said unto him, Teacher, we know that you are true, and care for no man: for you regard not the person of men, but teach the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt you me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
16 And they brought it. And he said unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's.
17 And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marveled at him.
18 Then came unto him the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
19 Teacher, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother dies, and leaves his wife behind him, and leaves no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up children unto his brother.
20 Now there were seven brothers: and the first took a wife, and dying left no children.
21 And the second took her, and died, neither left he any children: and the third likewise.
22 And the seven had her, and left no children: last of all the woman died also.
23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her as wife.
24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do you not therefore err, because you know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels who are in heaven.
26 And concerning the dead, that they rise: have you not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spoke unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: you therefore do greatly err.
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.
32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Teacher, you have said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
34 And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said unto him, You are not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that dared ask him any question.
35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?
36 For David himself said by the Holy Spirit, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool.
37 David therefore himself calls him Lord; and how is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, who love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost places at feasts:
40 Who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers: these shall receive greater condemnation.
41 And Jesus sat opposite the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow has cast more in, than all they who have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her poverty did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
