1 Elevo a Deus a minha voz

e clamo,

elevo a Deus a minha voz,

para que me atenda.

2 No dia da minha angústia,

procuro o Senhor;

erguem-se as minhas mãos

durante a noite

e não se cansam;

a minha alma

não encontra consolo.

3 Lembro-me de Deus

e começo a gemer;

medito, e o meu espírito desfalece.

4 Não me deixas pregar os olhos;

tão perturbado estou,

que nem posso falar.

5 Penso nos dias de outrora,

trago à lembrança os anos

de tempos passados.

6 De noite indago o meu íntimo,

e o meu espírito pergunta:

7 "Será que o Senhor nos rejeitará

para sempre?

Acaso, não voltará a ser propício?

8 Cessou perpetuamente

a sua graça?

Caducou a sua promessa

para todas as gerações?

9 Será que Deus se esqueceu

de ser bondoso?

Ou será que encerrou

as suas misericórdias

na sua ira?"

10 Então eu disse:

"Esta é a minha aflição:

o poder do Altíssimo

não é mais o mesmo."

11 Recordarei os feitos do Senhor;

certamente me lembrarei

das tuas maravilhas

da antiguidade.

12 Meditarei em todas as tuas obras

e pensarei em todos

os teus feitos poderosos.

13 O teu caminho, ó Deus,

é de santidade.

Que deus é tão grande

como o nosso Deus?

14 Tu és o Deus

que operas maravilhas

e, entre os povos,

tens feito notório o teu poder.

15 Com o teu braço

remiste o teu povo,

os filhos de Jacó e de José.

16 As águas te viram, ó Deus,

as águas te viram e temeram;

até os abismos se abalaram.

17 Grossas nuvens

se desfizeram em água;

houve trovões nos espaços;

também as tuas setas cruzaram

de uma parte para outra.

18 O estrondo do teu trovão

ecoou na redondeza;

os relâmpagos

iluminaram o mundo;

a terra se abalou e tremeu.

19 O teu caminho foi pelo mar;

as tuas veredas passaram

pelas grandes águas,

mas ninguém encontrou

as tuas pegadas.

20 O teu povo, tu o conduziste,

como rebanho,

pelas mãos de Moisés e de Arão.

1 I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.*

2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.*

3 I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.

4 Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

5 I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

6 I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

7 Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?

8 Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?*

9 Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

10 And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

11 I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.

12 I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

14 Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

15 Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

16 The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.

17 The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.*

18 The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.

19 Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.

20 Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
