1 Assim, pois, importa que todos nos considerem como ministros de Cristo e encarregados dos mistérios de Deus. 2 Ora, além disso, o que se requer destes encarregados é que cada um deles seja encontrado fiel. 3 Mas a mim pouco importa ser julgado por vocês ou por um tribunal humano; nem eu julgo a mim mesmo. 4 Porque a consciência não me acusa de nada. Mas nem por isso me dou por justificado, pois quem me julga é o Senhor. 5 Portanto, não julguem nada antes do tempo, até que venha o Senhor, o qual não somente trará à plena luz as coisas ocultas das trevas, mas também manifestará os desígnios dos corações. E então cada um receberá o seu louvor da parte de Deus.

6 Meus irmãos, apliquei estas coisas figuradamente a mim mesmo e a Apolo, por causa de vocês, para que por nosso exemplo vocês aprendam isto: "Não ultrapassem o que está escrito", para que ninguém se encha de orgulho a favor de um em prejuízo de outro. 7 Pois quem é que faz com que você sobressaia? E o que é que você tem que não tenha recebido? E, se o recebeu, por que se gloria, como se não o tivesse recebido?

8 Vocês já estão fartos! Já são ricos! Chegaram a reinar sem nós! Sim, quem dera que vocês fossem reis, para que também nós viéssemos a reinar com vocês! 9 Porque me parece que Deus pôs a nós, os apóstolos, em último lugar, como se fôssemos condenados à morte. Porque nos tornamos espetáculo para o mundo, tanto para os anjos como para os seres humanos. 10 Nós somos loucos por causa de Cristo, e vocês são sábios em Cristo. Nós somos fracos, e vocês são fortes; vocês são honrados, e nós somos desprezados. 11 Até a presente hora, sofremos fome, sede e nudez; somos esbofeteados e não temos morada certa; 12 e nos afadigamos, trabalhando com as nossas próprias mãos. Quando somos insultados, bendizemos; quando somos perseguidos, suportamos; 13 quando somos caluniados, procuramos conciliação. Até agora, temos chegado a ser considerados lixo do mundo, escória de todos.

14 Não escrevo estas coisas para que vocês fiquem envergonhados; pelo contrário, para admoestá-los como a meus filhos amados. 15 Porque, ainda que vocês tivessem milhares de instrutores em Cristo, não teriam muitos pais, pois eu gerei vocês em Cristo Jesus, pelo evangelho. 16 Portanto, eu peço a vocês que sejam meus imitadores. 17 Por esta causa, eu enviei até vocês Timóteo, que é meu filho amado e fiel no Senhor, o qual fará com que vocês se lembrem dos meus caminhos em Cristo Jesus, como, por toda parte, ensino em cada igreja.

18 Alguns de vocês se encheram de orgulho, como se eu não fosse mais visitá-los. 19 Mas, em breve, se o Senhor quiser, irei visitá-los, e então conhecerei não a palavra, mas o poder desses orgulhosos. 20 Porque o Reino de Deus consiste não em palavra, mas em poder. 21 O que vocês preferem? Que eu vá até aí com um chicote ou com amor e espírito de mansidão?

1 Let a man, so, be reckoning of us, as officers of Christ, and stewards of sacred secrets of God.

2 Here, furthermore, it is sought in stewards, that, faithful, one be found.

3 With me, however, it counteth for the very smallest thing, that, by you, I should be examined, or by a human day. Nay! I am not even examining myself,

4 For, of nothing, to myself, am I conscious: nevertheless, not hereby, am I declared righteous, but, he that doth examine me, is the Lord.

5 So then, not before the fitting time, be judging anything,until the Lord shall come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and, then, the praise shall come to each one, from God.

6 But, these things, brethren, have I transferred unto myself and Apollos, for your sakes, that, in us, ye might learn

7 For who maketh thee to differ? and what hast thou which thou didst not receive? But, if thou didst even receive it, why dost thou boast, as though thou hadst not received it?

8 Already, ye have become full, already, ye are become rich,apart from us, ye are become kings! And I would indeed ye had become kings, that, we also, with you, might have together become kings!

9 For I think that, God, hath set forth, us the apostles, to be last of all, as men devoted to death,in that, a spectacle, have we been made, unto the world,both unto messengers and unto men.

10 We, are foolish for Christs sake, but, ye, prudent in Christ; we are weak, but, ye, mighty; ye, all-glorious, but, we, dishonoured.

11 Until the present hour, we both hunger and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and are wanderers,

12 And toil, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless, being persecuted, we hold on,

13 Being defamed, we beseech: as the sweepings of the world have we become, the offscouring of alluntil even now.

14 Not, to shame you, write I these things; but, as my beloved children, I admonish you.

15 For, though myriads of tutors ye should have in Christ, yet not many fathers; for, in Christ Jesus, through means of the joyful message, I, begat you.

16 I beseech you, therefore,become imitators of me.

17 For this cause, sent I unto you, Timothy,who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, who shall put, you, in mind of my ways which are in Christ Jesus , even as, everywhere, in every assembly, I teach.

18 But, as though I were not coming unto you, some are puffed up!

19 Howbeit, I will come quickly unto you,if, the Lord, please,and will get to knownot the speech of them who are puffed up, but, the power;

20 For, not in speech, is the kingdom of God, but, in power.

21 What will ye? that, with a rod, I should come unto you? or, with love, and a spirit of meekness?
