1 Paulo, apóstolo de Cristo Jesus, por ordem de Deus, nosso Salvador, e de Cristo Jesus, nossa esperança, 2 a Timóteo, verdadeiro filho na fé.

Que a graça, a misericórdia e a paz, da parte de Deus Pai e de Cristo Jesus, nosso Senhor, estejam com você.

3 Quando eu estava de viagem, rumo à Macedônia, pedi a você que ainda permanecesse em Éfeso para admoestar certas pessoas, a fim de que não ensinem outra doutrina, 4 nem se ocupem com fábulas e genealogias sem fim. Essas coisas mais promovem discussões do que o serviço de Deus, na fé. 5 O objetivo desta admoestação é o amor que procede de um coração puro, de uma boa consciência e de uma fé sem hipocrisia. 6 Algumas pessoas se desviaram destas coisas e se perderam em discussões inúteis, 7 pretendendo passar por mestres da lei, não compreendendo, porém, nem o que dizem, nem os assuntos sobre os quais falam com tanta ousadia.

8 Sabemos que a lei é boa, se alguém se utiliza dela de modo legítimo, 9 tendo em vista que não se promulga lei para quem é justo, mas para os transgressores e rebeldes, para os ímpios e pecadores, para os iníquos e profanos, para os que matam o pai ou a mãe, para os homicidas, 10 para os que praticam a imoralidade, para os que se entregam a práticas homossexuais, para os sequestradores, para os mentirosos, para os que fazem juramento falso e para tudo o que se opõe à sã doutrina, 11 segundo o evangelho da glória do Deus bendito, do qual fui encarregado.

12 Dou graças a Cristo Jesus, nosso Senhor, que me fortaleceu e me considerou fiel, designando-me para o ministério, 13 a mim, que, no passado, era blasfemo, perseguidor e insolente. Mas alcancei misericórdia, pois fiz isso na ignorância, na incredulidade. 14 Transbordou, porém, a graça de nosso Senhor com a fé e o amor que há em Cristo Jesus. 15 Esta palavra é fiel e digna de toda aceitação: que Cristo Jesus veio ao mundo para salvar os pecadores, dos quais eu sou o principal. 16 Mas, por esta mesma razão, me foi concedida misericórdia, para que, em mim, que sou o principal pecador, Cristo Jesus pudesse mostrar a sua completa longanimidade, e eu servisse de modelo para todos os que hão de crer nele para a vida eterna. 17 Assim, ao Rei eterno, imortal, invisível, Deus único, honra e glória para todo o sempre. Amém!

18 Esta é a admoestação que faço a você, meu filho Timóteo, segundo as profecias que anteriormente foram feitas a seu respeito: que, firmado nelas, você combata o bom combate, 19 mantendo a fé e a boa consciência, porque alguns, tendo rejeitado a boa consciência, vieram a naufragar na fé. 20 Entre esses estão Himeneu e Alexandre, os quais entreguei a Satanás para serem castigados, a fim de que aprendam a não blasfemar.

3 Even as I exhorted thee to remain in Ephesus, when I was journeying into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some

4 Not to be teaching otherwise, nor yet to be giving heed to stories and endless genealogies,the which, bring, arguings, rather than that stewardship of God which is with faith;

5 Now, the end of the charge, is loveout of a pure heart, and a good conscience, and faith unfeigned,

6 Which some, missing, have turned them aside unto idle talk,

7 Desiring to be law-teachers,not understanding, either what they say or whereof they confidently affirm.

8 Now we know that, excellent, is the law, if one put it to a lawful use:

9 Knowing thisthat, to a righteous man, law, doth not apply, but to the lawless and insubordinate, ungodly and sinful, irreligious and profane, smiters of fathers and smiters of mothers, murderers,

10 fornicators, sodomites, man-stealers, liars, false- swearers,and, if anything else, unto the healthful teaching, is opposed;

11 According to the glad-message of the glory of the happy God, with which entrusted am, I.

12 Grateful, am I unto him that empowered me, Christ Jesus our Lord, in that, faithful, he accounted me, putting me into ministry,

13 Though, formerly, a defamer, and persecutor, and insulter; nevertheless mercy was shown me, because, without knowledge, I acted, in unbelief:

14 Yet exceeding abundant was the favour of our Lord, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

15 Faithful, the saying! and, of all acceptance, worthy,that, Christ Jesus, came into the world, sinners, to save: of whom, the chief, am, I;

16 Nevertheless, on this account, was mercy shewn me,that, in me, the chief, Christ Jesus might shew forth his entire longsuffering, for an ensample of them about to believe on him unto life age-abiding.

17 Now, unto the King of the ages,incorruptible, invisible, alone God, be honour and glory, unto the ages of ages, Amen!

18 This charge, I commit unto thee, child Timothy, According to the prophecies, running before on thee, in order that thou mightest war, with them, the noble warfare.

19 Holding faith and a good conscience,which some, thrusting from them, concerning their faith, have made shipwreck:

20 Of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may be taught by discipline not to be defaming.
