1 Paulo, prisioneiro de Cristo Jesus, e o irmão Timóteo, ao amado Filemom, que é também nosso colaborador, 2 à igreja que se reúne em sua casa, à irmã Áfia e a Arquipo, nosso companheiro de lutas.

3 Que a graça e a paz de Deus, nosso Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo estejam com vocês.

4 Dou graças ao meu Deus, lembrando sempre de você nas minhas orações, 5 porque tenho ouvido falar da fé que você tem no Senhor Jesus e do seu amor por todos os santos. 6 Oro para que a comunhão da sua fé se torne eficaz no pleno conhecimento de todo o bem que há em nós, para com Cristo. 7 Pois, irmão, o seu amor me trouxe grande alegria e consolo, visto que o coração dos santos tem sido reanimado por você.

8 Pois bem, ainda que eu sinta plena liberdade em Cristo para ordenar a você o que convém ser feito, 9 prefiro, no entanto, pedir em nome do amor, sendo o que sou, Paulo, o velho, e agora também prisioneiro de Cristo Jesus. 10 Faço um pedido em favor de meu filho Onésimo, que gerei entre algemas. 11 Antes, ele era inútil para você; atualmente, porém, é útil, para você e para mim.

12 Eu o estou mandando de volta a você — ele, quero dizer, o meu próprio coração. 13 Eu queria conservá-lo comigo, para que ele me servisse em seu lugar nas algemas que carrego por causa do evangelho. 14 Mas não quis fazer nada sem o seu consentimento, para que a sua bondade não venha a ser como que uma obrigação, mas algo que é feito de livre vontade. 15 Talvez ele tenha sido afastado de você temporariamente, a fim de que você o receba para sempre, 16 não como escravo, mas, muito mais do que escravo, como irmão caríssimo, especialmente de mim e, com maior razão, de você, quer como ser humano, quer como irmão no Senhor.

17 Portanto, se você me considera companheiro, receba-o como receberia a mim. 18 E, se ele causou algum dano a você ou lhe deve alguma coisa, ponha tudo na minha conta. 19 Eu, Paulo, de próprio punho, escrevo isto: Eu pagarei. É claro que não preciso dizer que você me deve a própria vida. 20 Sim, irmão, que eu receba de você, no Senhor, este benefício. Reanime o meu coração em Cristo.

21 Certo, como estou, da sua obediência, eu escrevo a você, sabendo que fará mais do que estou pedindo. 22 E, ao mesmo tempo, prepare-me também pousada, pois espero que, por meio das orações de vocês, eu lhes seja restituído.

23 Epafras, prisioneiro comigo, em Cristo Jesus, 24 Marcos, Aristarco, Demas e Lucas, meus colaboradores, mandam saudações a você.

25 A graça do Senhor Jesus Cristo esteja com o espírito de todos vocês.

2 And unto Apphia our sister. And unto Archippus our fellow-soldier, and unto the assembly which meeteth, at thy house:

3 Favour unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I am giving thanks unto my Godalways, making mention, of thee, in my prayers,

5 Hearing of thy love, and of the faith which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus and towards all the saints,

6 To the end that, the fellowship of thy faith, may become, energetic, by a personal knowledge of every good thing that is in us towards Christ;

7 For, much joy, have I had, and encouragement, by occasion of thy love, in that, the tender affections of the saints, have had rest given them by thee, brother.

8 Wherefore, though I have, much, freedom of speech, in Christ, to be enjoining upon thee that which is befitting,

9 Yet, for loves sake, I rather exhort,being, such a one, as Paul the aged, now, also, even a prisoner of Christ Jesus,

10 I exhort thee concerning my own child, whom I have begotten in my bonds,Onesimus:

11 Him who, at one time, was, unto thee, unserviceable, but, now, unto thee and unto me, serviceable;

12 Whom I have sent back unto theehim, that is, my own, tender affections!

13 Whom, I, was minded, with myself, to detain, that, in thy behalf, unto me, he might be ministering in the bonds of the joyful message;

14 But, apart from thy mind, I wished to do, nothing, that, not as by necessity, thy goodness should be, but, by choice.

15 For, peradventure, for this cause, was he separated for an hour, that, as an age-abiding possession, thou mightest have him back,

16 No longer as a servant, but above a servanta brother beloved, very greatly to me, but, how much rather, to theeboth in the flesh and in the Lord!

17 If, therefore, thou holdest me as one in thy fellowship, take him unto thee, as myself;

18 And, if he hath wronged thee at all or oweth thee aught, the same, unto me, do thou reckon:

19 I, Paul, have written ; that I may not tell theethat, thyself, unto me, thou still owest.

20 Yea! brother, I, would, from thee, have help, in the Lord: give rest unto my tender affections in Christ.

21 Confident of thine obedience, I have written unto thee, knowing that, even beyond what I say, thou wilt do:

22 At the same time, moreover, be also getting ready for me, a lodging; for I am hoping that, through your prayers, I shall be granted as a favour unto you.

23 There salute theeEpaphras my fellow-captive in Christ Jesus,

24 Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke,my fellow-workers.

25 The favour of the Lord Jesus Christ, be with your spirit.
