Prayer for Rescue from Secret Enemies.
For the music director. A Psalm of David.
1 Hear my voice, God, in my 64:1 Or concerncomplaint;
Protect my life from dread of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret discussion of evildoers,
From the restlessness of the workers of injustice,
3 Who have sharpened their tongues like a sword.
They aimed bitter speech as their arrows,
4 To shoot 64:4 Lit infrom concealment at the innocent;
Suddenly they shoot at him, and do not fear.
5 They make firm for themselves an evil 64:5 Lit matterpurpose;
They 64:5 Lit tell oftalk of setting snares secretly;
They say, "Who can see them?"
6 They 64:6 Or search outdevise injustices, saying,
"We are 64:6 Lit completeready with a well-conceived plot";
For the 64:6 Or inward partinward thought and the heart of a person are 64:6 Or unsearchabledeep.
7 But God 64:7 Or shotwill shoot an arrow at them;
Suddenly 64:7 Or they were wounded; lit their wounds occurredthey will be wounded.
8 So 64:8 Or they make their tongue a stumbling for themselvesthey 64:8 Or madewill make him stumble;
Their own tongue is against them;
All who see them will shake their heads.
9 Then all people 64:9 Or fearedwill fear,
And they 64:9 Or declaredwill declare the work of God,
And 64:9 Or consideredwill consider 64:9 Lit His workwhat He has done.
10 The righteous person will be glad in the Lord and take refuge in Him;
And all the upright in heart will boast.
