Amos 3:3-8

NKJV Nova Versão King James

3 Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?

4 Will a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey?

Will a young lion cry out of his den, if he has caught nothing?

5 Will a bird fall into a snare on the earth, where there is no trap for it?

Will a snare spring up from the earth, if it has caught nothing at all?

6 If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid?

Is. 45:7If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it?

7 Surely the Lord God does nothing,

Unless Gen. 6:13; 18:17; (Jer. 23:22); Dan. 9:22; (John 15:15)He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.

8 A lion has roared!

Who will not fear?

The Lord God has spoken!

Jer. 20:9; (Mic. 3:8); Acts 4:20; 1 Cor. 9:16Who can but prophesy?

  2. NIV New International Version

    3 Do two walk together

unless they have agreed to do so?

4 Does a lion roar in the thicket

    when it has no prey?

Does it growl in its den

    when it has caught nothing?

5 Does a bird swoop down to a trap on the ground

    when no bait is there?

Does a trap spring up from the ground

if it has not caught anything?

6 When a trumpet sounds in a city,

    do not the people tremble?

When disaster comes to a city,

has not the Lord caused it?

7 Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing

    without revealing his plan

    to his servants the prophets.

    8 The lion has roared—

    who will not fear?

    The Sovereign Lord has spoken—

    who can but prophesy?

  4. NLT New Living Translation

3 Can two people walk together

    without agreeing on the direction?

4 Does a lion ever roar in a thicket

    without first finding a victim?

Does a young lion growl in its den

    without first catching its prey?

5 Does a bird ever get caught in a trap

    that has no bait?

    Does a trap spring shut

    when there’s nothing to catch?

6 When the ram’s horn blows a warning,

    shouldn’t the people be alarmed?

Does disaster come to a city

unless the Lord has planned it?

7 Indeed, the Sovereign Lord never does anything

until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets.

    8 The lion has roared—

    so who isn’t frightened?

    The Sovereign Lord has spoken—

so who can refuse to proclaim his message?

3 Shall two walk together except they be agreed? 4 Will a lion roar in the forest, if he have no prey? will the lion’s whelp cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing? 5 Will the bird fall into the snare upon the earth, if there be no fowler? Shall the snare be taken up from the earth, before it hath taken somewhat? 6 Shall the trumpet sound in a city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, which the Lord hath not done? 7 For the Lord God doth nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets. 8 The lion shall roar, who will not fear? The Lord God hath spoken, who shall not prophesy?

  8. MSG The Message

3-7 Do two people walk hand in hand

if they aren’t going to the same place?

Does a lion roar in the forest

if there’s no carcass to devour?

Does a young lion growl with pleasure

if he hasn’t caught his supper?

Does a bird fall to the ground

if it hasn’t been hit with a stone?

    Does a trap spring shut

    if nothing trips it?

When the alarm goes off in the city,

    aren’t people alarmed?

And when disaster strikes the city,

    doesn’t God stand behind it?

The fact is, God, the Master, does nothing

without first telling his prophets the whole story.

    8 The lion has roared—

    who isn’t frightened?

    God has spoken—

    what prophet can keep quiet?
