1 The work Solomon did on Jehovah’s Temple was finished. He brought the holy things that had belonged to his father David, the silver, gold, and all the utensils. He put them in the storerooms of God’s Temple.2 Then Solomon assembled the respected leaders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes, and the leaders of the Israelite families. They came to Jerusalem to take the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah from the City of David, which is Zion.3 The men of Israel gathered around the king at the Festival of Booths in the seventh month.4 When all the leaders of Israel had arrived, the Levites picked up the ark.5 They brought the Ark, the Tent of Meeting, and all the holy utensils in it to the Temple. The priests and the Levites carried them6 while King Solomon and the whole assembly from Israel were offering countless sheep and cattle sacrifices in front of the Ark.7 The priests brought Jehovah’s Ark of the Covenant to its place in the inner room of the Temple, the most holy place, under the wings of the cherubim angels.8 The cherubim angels outstretched wings were over the place where the Ark rested so that the cherubim became a covering above the Ark and its poles.9 The poles were so long that their ends could be seen in the holy place by anyone standing in front of the inner room. However they could not be seen outside. They are still there today.10 There was nothing in the Ark except the two tablets Moses placed there at Horeb, where Jehovah made a covenant with the Israelites after they left Egypt.11 All the priests who were present had performed the ceremonies to make themselves holy to God without regard to staying in their divisions.12 All the Levites who were musicians: Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, their sons, and their relatives were dressed in fine linen and stood east of the altar with cymbals, harps, and lyres. With the musicians were one hundred and twenty priests blowing trumpets. When the priests left the holy place,13 the trumpeters and singers praised and thanked Jehovah in unison. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other musical instruments, they sang in praise to Jehovah: »He is good; his mercy lovingkindness endures forever.« Then Jehovah’s Temple was filled with a cloud.14 The priests could not serve because of the cloud. Jehovah’s glory filled the Temple of God.

Então trouxe Salomão as coisas que seu pai Davi tinha consagrado, a saber, a prata, e ouro e todos os vasos, e os pôs nos tesouros da casa de Deus.2 Então Salomão congregou em Jerusalém os anciãos de Israel, e todos as cabeças das tribos, os chefes das casas paternas dos filhos de Israel, para fazerem subir da cidade de Davi, que é Sião, a arca do pacto do Senhor.3 E todos os homens de Israel se congregaram ao rei na festa, no sétimo mês.4 E, tendo chegado todos os anciãos de Israel; os levitas levantaram a arca;5 e fizeram subir a arca, a tenda da revelação e todos os utensílios sagrados que estavam na tenda; os sacerdotes levitas os levaram.6 Então o rei Salomão e toda a congregação de Israel, que se havia reunido a ele diante da arca, sacrificavam carneiros e bois, que não se podiam contar nem numerar por causa da sua multidão.7 Assim trouxeram os sacerdotes a arca do pacto do Senhor para o seu lugar, no oráculo da casa, no lugar santíssimo, debaixo das asas dos querubins.8 Porque os querubins estendiam as asas sobre o lugar da arca, cobrindo a arca e os seus varais:9 Os varais eram tão compridos que as suas pontas se viam perante o oráculo, mas não se viam de fora; e ali tem estado a arca até o dia de hoje.10 Na arca não havia coisa alguma senão as duas tábuas que Moisés ali tinha posto em Horebe, quando o Senhor fez um pacto com os filhos de Israel, ao saíram eles do Egito.11 Quando os sacerdotes saíram do lugar santo {pois todos os sacerdotes que se achavam presentes se tinham santificado, sem observarem a ordem das suas turmas;12 também os levitas que eram cantores, todos eles, a saber, Asafe, Remã, Jedútum e seus filhos, e seus irmãos, vestidos de linho fino, com címbalos, com alaúdes e com harpas, estavam em pé ao lado oriental do altar, e juntamente com eles cento e vinte sacerdotes, que tocavam as trombetas} ,13 quando os trombeteiros e os cantores estavam acordes em fazerem ouvir uma só voz, louvando ao Senhor e dando-lhe graças, e quando levantavam a voz com trombetas, e címbalos, e outros instrumentos de música, e louvavam ao Senhor, dizendo: Porque ele é bom, porque a sua benignidade dura para sempre; então se encheu duma nuvem a casa, a saber, a casa do Senhor,14 de modo que os sacerdotes não podiam ter-se em pé, para ministrar, por causa da nuvem; porque a glória do Senhor encheu a casa de Deus.
