1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God, and of our Savior Jesus Christ:2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord!3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. This is through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue excellence.4 He offered us his precious and exceedingly great promises. Through these you may become partakers of the divine nature. You will escape from the corruption that is in the lust-filled world.5 Yes, for this very reason you do your part with all diligence. Supply virtue to your faith. Add knowledge to your virtue.6 Include self-control with your knowledge. Supply patience to your self-control. Your patience should be helped by godliness.7 Add brotherly kindness to your godliness. And to your brotherly kindness add love.8 For if these things are yours and abound in you they will keep you from being inactive or unfruitful regarding the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.10 Brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election choosing sure. If you do practiceexerciseapply these things, you will never stumble!11 For in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly abundantly supplied to you.12 I will always be ready to remind you of these things. Even though you know them, and are established in the truth that is present with you.13 I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by reminding you.14 I know that putting off my earthly dwelling is imminent, even as our Lord Jesus Christ indicated to me.15 I will be diligent so that every time after my departure you will remember these things.16 We did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We were eyewitnesses of his majesty.17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when he heard the voice from the Majestic Glory: »This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.«18 We heard this voice from out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.19 We have the word of prophecy made sure steadfastfirm! You do well that you pay attention to Gods Word as you would to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the daystar rises, in your hearts.20 Know this first that no prophecy of scripture is for private interpretation.21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man! Men spoke from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
1 Simão Pedro, servo e apóstolo de Jesus Cristo, aos que conosco alcançaram fé igualmente preciosa na justiça do nosso Deus e Salvador Jesus Cristo:2 Graça e paz vos sejam multiplicadas no pleno conhecimento de Deus e de Jesus nosso Senhor;3 visto como o seu divino poder nos tem dado tudo o que diz respeito à vida e à piedade, pelo pleno conhecimento daquele que nos chamou por sua própria glória e virtude;4 pelas quais ele nos tem dado as suas preciosas e grandíssimas promessas, para que por elas vos torneis participantes da natureza divina, havendo escapado da corrupção, que pela concupiscência há no mundo.5 E por isso mesmo vós, empregando toda a diligência, acrescentai à vossa fé a virtude, e à virtude a ciência,6 e à ciência o domínio próprio, e ao domínio próprio a perseverança, e à perseverança a piedade,7 e à piedade a fraternidade, e à fraternidade o amor.8 Porque, se em vós houver e abundarem estas coisas, elas não vos deixarão ociosos nem infrutíferos no pleno conhecimento de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.9 Pois aquele em quem não há estas coisas é cego, vendo somente o que está perto, havendo-se esquecido da purificação dos seus antigos pecados.10 Portanto, irmãos, procurai mais diligentemente fazer firme a vossa vocação e eleição; porque, fazendo isto, nunca jamais tropeçareis.11 Porque assim vos será amplamente concedida a entrada no reino eterno do nosso Senhor e Salvador Jesus Cristo.12 Pelo que estarei sempre pronto para vos lembrar estas coisas, ainda que as saibais, e estejais confirmados na verdade que já está convosco.13 E tendo por justo, enquanto ainda estou neste tabernáculo, despertar-vos com admoestações,14 sabendo que brevemente hei de deixar este meu tabernáculo, assim como nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo já mo revelou.15 Mas procurarei diligentemente que também em toda ocasião depois da minha morte tenhais lembrança destas coisas.16 Porque não seguimos fábulas engenhosas quando vos fizemos conhecer o poder e a vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, pois nós fôramos testemunhas oculares da sua majestade.17 Porquanto ele recebeu de Deus Pai honra e glória, quando pela Glória Magnífica lhe foi dirigida a seguinte voz: Este é o meu Filho amado, em quem me comprazo;18 e essa voz, dirigida do céu, ouvimo-la nós mesmos, estando com ele no monte santo.19 E temos ainda mais firme a palavra profética à qual bem fazeis em estar atentos, como a uma candeia que alumia em lugar escuro, até que o dia amanheça e a estrela da alva surja em vossos corações;20 sabendo primeiramente isto: que nenhuma profecia da Escritura é de particular interpretação.21 Porque a profecia nunca foi produzida por vontade dos homens, mas os homens da parte de Deus falaram movidos pelo Espírito Santo.
