1 I solemnly charge you in the sight presence of God, and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:2 preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching.3 For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine. Having their ears tickled, they will accumulate teachers who follow after their own lusts.4 They will turn their ears away from the truth, and turn aside to myths fiction.5 Be sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist preacher of the good news, and fulfill your ministry.6 I am already being offered poured out as an offering, and the time of my departure has come.7 I have fought the good fight! I have finished the course! I have kept the faith!8 The crown of righteousness is laid up for me. The Lord, the righteous judge, will give it to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing manifestation.9 Do your best to come to me shortly.10 For Demas forsook me, having loved this present world, and went to Thessalonica. Que isto não lhes seja imputado.17 Mas o Senhor esteve ao meu lado e me fortaleceu, para que por mim fosse cumprida a pregação, e a ouvissem todos os gentios; e fiquei livre da boca do leão,18 E o Senhor me livrará de toda má obra, e me levará salvo para o seu reino celestial; a quem seja glória para todo o sempre.
