1 The prophetic utterance of the word of Jehovah concerning Israel. Jehovah declared: »Who stretches forth the heavens? Who lays the foundation of the earth? Who forms the spirit of man within him?2 »I will make Jerusalem a cup that causes trembling to the people in the nations nearby. Judah will also be attacked when they attack Jerusalem.3 »It will happen in that day! I will make Jerusalem a heavy weight for all the people. All who lift it will be severely injured. All the nations of the earth will gather against her.«4 »In that day,« said Jehovah, »I will strike every horse with terror and his rider with madness! I will watch the house of Judah. Every horse of the people will be struck with blindness.5 »The people of Judah including the leaders will say in their hearts: The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength through Jehovah of Hosts their God.6 »I will make the people of Judah like a pan of fire among wood and like a flaming torch among sheaves of grain. They will consume all the peoples on the right hand and on the left all around. The inhabitants of Jerusalem will again dwell in their own place, in Jerusalem.7 »Jehovah will save the dwellings of Judah first. The glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will not be magnified above Judah.8 »In that day Jehovah will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem. He that is feeble among them will be like David. For the house of David will be like God, like the angel of Jehovah before them.9 »It will happen at that time. I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.10 »I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of kindness and of supplication. They will look to the one whom they pierced; and they will mourn for him, as one mourns for his only son. There will be a bitter lamentation for him, like one who grieves for his first-born.11 »That day will be a great mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the Valley of Megiddon Megiddo.12 »And the land will mourn, every family by itself; the family of the house of David by itself, and their wives by themselves, the family of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves.13 »The family of the house of Levi will mourn by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the Shimeites by themselves, and their wives by themselves;14 »All the remaining families and their wives will mourn by themselves.

1 A palavra do Senhor acerca de Israel: Fala o Senhor, o que estendeu o céu, e que lançou os alicerces da terra e que formou o espírito do homem dentro dele.2 Eis que eu farei de Jerusalém um copo de atordoamento para todos os povos em redor, e também para Judá, durante o cerco contra Jerusalém.3 Naquele dia farei de Jerusalém uma pedra pesada para todos os povos; todos os que a erguerem, serão gravemente feridos. E ajuntar-se-ão contra ela todas as nações da terra.4 Naquele dia, diz o Senhor, ferirei de espanto a todos os cavalos, e de loucura os que montam neles. Mas sobre a casa de Judá abrirei os meus olhos, e ferirei de cegueira todos os cavalos dos povos.5 Então os chefes de Judá dirão no seu coração: Os habitantes de Jerusalém são a minha força no Senhor dos exércitos, seu Deus.6 Naquele dia porei os chefes de Judá como um braseiro ardente no meio de lenha, e como um facho entre gavelas; e eles devorarão à direita e à esquerda a todos os povos em redor; e Jerusalém será habitada outra vez no seu próprio lugar, mesmo em Jerusalém.7 Também o Senhor salvará primeiro as tendas de Judá, para que a glória da casa de Davi e a glória dos habitantes de Jerusalém não se engrandeçam sobre Judá.8 Naquele dia o Senhor defenderá os habitantes de Jerusalém, de sorte que o mais fraco dentre eles naquele dia será como Davi, e a casa de Davi será como Deus, como o anjo do Senhor diante deles.9 E naquele dia, tratarei de destruir todas as nações que vierem contra Jerusalém.10 Mas sobre a casa de Davi, e sobre os habitantes de Jerusalém, derramarei o espírito de graça e de súplicas; e olharão para aquele a quem traspassaram, e o prantearão como quem pranteia por seu filho único; e chorarão amargamente por ele, como se chora pelo primogênito.11 Naquele dia será grande o pranto em Jerusalém, como o pranto de Hadade-Rimom no vale de Megidom.12 E a terra pranteará, cada família à parte: a família da casa de Davi à parte, e suas mulheres à parte; e a família da casa de Natã à parte, e suas mulheres à parte;13 a família da casa de Levi à parte, e suas mulheres à parte; a família de Simei à parte, e suas mulheres à parte;14 todas as mais famílias, cada família à parte, e suas mulheres à parte.
