1 Quando todas essas bênçãos e maldições que coloquei diante de vocês lhes sobrevierem, e elas os atingirem onde quer que o Senhor, o seu Deus, os dispersar entre as nações,2 e quando vocês e os seus filhos voltarem para o Senhor, para o seu Deus, e lhe obedecerem de todo o coração e de toda a alma, de acordo com tudo o que hoje lhes ordeno,3 então o Senhor, o seu Deus, lhes trará restauração e terá compaixão de vocês e os reunirá novamente de todas as nações por onde os tiver espalhado.4 Mesmo que tenham sido levados para a terra mais distante debaixo do céu, de lá o Senhor, o seu Deus, os reunirá e os trará de volta.5 Ele os trará para a terra dos seus antepassados, e vocês tomarão posse dela. Ele fará com que vocês sejam mais prósperos e mais numerosos do que os seus antepassados.6 O Senhor, o seu Deus, dará um coração fiel a vocês e aos seus descendentes, para que o amem de todo o coração e de toda a alma e vivam.7 O Senhor, o seu Deus, enviará então todas essas maldições sobre os inimigos que os odeiam e os perseguem.8 Vocês obedecerão de novo ao Senhor e seguirão todos os seus mandamentos que lhes dou hoje.9 Então o Senhor, o seu Deus, abençoará o que as suas mãos fizerem, os filhos do seu ventre, a cria dos seus animais e as colheitas da sua terra. O Senhor se alegrará novamente em vocês e os tornará prósperos, como se alegrou em seus antepassados,10 se vocês obedecerem ao Senhor, ao seu Deus, e guardarem os seus mandamentos e decretos que estão escritos neste Livro da Lei, e se se voltarem para o Senhor, para o seu Deus, de todo o coração e de toda a alma. Vida ou Morte11 O que hoje lhes estou ordenando não é difícil fazer, nem está além do seu alcance.12 Não está lá em cima no céu, de modo que vocês tenham que perguntar: "Quem subirá ao céu para consegui-lo e vir proclamá-lo a nós a fim de que lhe obedeçamos? "13 Nem está além do mar, de modo que vocês tenham que perguntar: "Quem atravessará o mar para consegui-lo e, voltando, proclamá-lo a nós a fim de que lhe obedeçamos? "14 Nada disso. A palavra está bem próxima de vocês; está em sua boca e em seu coração; por isso vocês poderão obedecer-lhe.15 Vejam que hoje ponho diante de vocês vida e prosperidade, ou morte e destruição.16 Pois hoje lhes ordeno que amem o Senhor, o seu Deus, andem nos seus caminhos e guardem os seus mandamentos, decretos e ordenanças; então vocês terão vida e aumentarão em número, e o Senhor, o seu Deus, os abençoará na terra em que vocês estão entrando para dela tomar posse.17 Se, todavia, o seu coração se desviar e vocês não forem obedientes, e se deixarem levar, prostrando-se diante de outros deuses para adorá-los,18 eu hoje lhes declaro que sem dúvida vocês serão destruídos. Vocês não viverão muito tempo na terra em que vão entrar e da qual vão tomar posse, depois de atravessarem o Jordão.19 Hoje invoco os céus e a terra como testemunhas contra vocês, de que coloquei diante de vocês a vida e a morte, a bênção e a maldição. Agora escolham a vida, para que vocês e os seus filhos vivam,20 e para que vocês amem o Senhor, o seu Deus, ouçam a sua voz e se apeguem firmemente a ele. Pois o Senhor é a sua vida, e ele lhes dará muitos anos na terra que jurou dar aos seus antepassados, Abraão, Isaque e Jacó.

1 And it shall come to pass, when all these things have come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shall call them to mind among all the nations, where LORD thy God has driven thee,2 and shall return to LORD thy God, and shall obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy sons, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul,3 that then LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the peoples where LORD thy God has scattered thee.4 If [any of] thine outcasts be in the outermost parts of heaven, from there LORD thy God will gather thee, and from there he will fetch thee.5 And LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shall possess it, and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.6 And LORD thy God will circumcise thy heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love LORD thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, that thou may live.7 And LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on those who hate thee, who persecuted thee.8 And thou shall return and obey the voice of LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.9 And LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in all the work of thy hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, for good. For LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoic10 if thou shall obey the voice of LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law; if thou turn to LORD thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.11 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not too hard for thee, neither is it far off.12 It is not in heaven, that thou should say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it?13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou should say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, and make us to hear it, that we may do it?14 But the word is very near to thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou may do it.15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil,16 in that I command thee this day to love LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, that thou may live and multiply, and that LORD thy God may bless thee in the land where th17 But if thy heart turns away, and thou will not hear, but shall be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them,18 I declare to you this day, that ye shall surely perish. Ye shall not prolong your days in the land where thou pass over the Jordan to go in to possess it.19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore choose life, that thou may live, thou and thy seed,20 to love LORD thy God, to obey his voice, and to cling to him, for he is thy life, and the length of thy days, that thou may dwell in the land which LORD swore to thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
