1 Disse também o Senhor a Moisés e a Arão:2 "Esta é uma exigência da lei que o Senhor ordenou: Mande os israelitas trazerem uma novilha vermelha, sem defeito e sem mancha, sobre a qual nunca tenha sido colocada uma canga.3 Vocês a darão ao sacerdote Eleazar; ela será levada para fora do acampamento e sacrificada na presença dele.4 Então o sacerdote Eleazar pegará um pouco do sangue com o dedo e o aspergirá sete vezes, na direção da entrada da Tenda do Encontro.5 Na presença dele a novilha será queimada: o couro, a carne, o sangue e o excremento.6 O sacerdote apanhará um pedaço de madeira de cedro, hissopo e lã vermelha e os atirará ao fogo que estiver queimando a novilha.7 Depois disso o sacerdote lavará as suas roupas e se banhará com água. Então poderá entrar no acampamento, mas estará impuro até o cair da tarde.8 Aquele que queimar a novilha também lavará as suas roupas e se banhará com água, e também estará impuro até o cair da tarde.9 "Um homem cerimonialmente puro recolherá as cinzas da novilha e as colocará num local puro, fora do acampamento. Serão guardadas pela comunidade de Israel para uso na água da purificação, para a purificação de pecados.10 Aquele que recolher as cinzas da novilha também lavará as suas roupas, e ficará impuro até o cair da tarde. Este é um decreto perpétuo, tanto para os israelitas como para os estrangeiros residentes.11 "Quem tocar num cadáver humano ficará impuro durante sete dias.12 Deverá purificar-se com essa água no terceiro e no sétimo dia; então estará puro. Mas, se não se purificar no terceiro e no sétimo dia, não estará puro.13 Quem tocar num cadáver humano e não se purificar, contamina o tabernáculo do Senhor e será eliminado de Israel. Ficará impuro porque a água da purificação não foi derramada sobre ele; sua impureza permanece sobre ele.14 "Esta é a lei que se aplica quando alguém morre numa tenda: quem entrar na tenda e quem nela estiver ficará impuro sete dias,15 e qualquer recipiente que não estiver bem fechado ficará impuro.16 "Quem estiver no campo e tocar em alguém que tenha sido morto à espada, ou em que tenha sofrido morte natural, ou num osso humano, ou num túmulo, ficará impuro durante sete dias.17 "Pela pessoa impura, colocarão um pouco das cinzas do holocausto de purificação num jarro e derramarão água da fonte por cima.18 Então um homem cerimonialmente puro pegará hissopo, molhará na água e a aspergirá sobre a tenda, sobre todos os utensílios e sobre todas as pessoas que estavam ali. Também a aspergirá sobre todo aquele que tiver tocado num osso humano, ou num túmulo, ou em alguém que tenha sido morto ou que tenha sofrido morte natural.19 Aquele que estiver puro a aspergirá sobre a pessoa impura no terceiro e no sétimo dia, e no sétimo dia deverá purificá-la. Aquele que estiver sendo purificado lavará as suas roupas e se banhará com água, e naquela tarde estará puro.20 Mas, se aquele que estiver impuro não se purificar, será eliminado da assembléia, pois contaminou o santuário do Senhor. A água da purificação não foi aspergida sobre ele, e ele está impuro.21 Este é um decreto perpétuo para eles. "O homem que aspergir a água da purificação também lavará as suas roupas, e todo aquele que tocar na água da purificação ficará impuro até o cair da tarde.22 Qualquer coisa na qual alguém que estiver impuro tocar se tornará impura, e qualquer pessoa que nela tocar ficará impura até o cair da tarde".

1 And LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,2 This is the statute of the law which LORD has commanded, saying, Speak to the sons of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, in which is no blemish, [and] upon which a yoke never came.3 And ye shall give her to Eleazar the priest, and he shall bring her forth outside the camp, and she shall be killed before his face.4 And Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle her blood toward the front of the tent of meeting seven times.5 And the heifer shall be burned in his sight: her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, he shall burn.6 And the priest shall take cedar-wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer.7 Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water. And afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the evening.8 And he who burned her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the evening.9 And a man who is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up outside the camp in a clean place. And it shall be kept for the congregation of the sons of Israel for a water for impurity. It is a sin-offering.10 And he who gathers the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the evening. And it shall be to the sons of Israel, and to the stranger who sojourns among them, for a statute forever.11 He who touches the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.12 The same shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean, but if he does not purify himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.13 Whoever touches a dead person, the body of a man who has died, and does not purify himself, defiles the tabernacle of LORD. And that soul shall be cut off from Israel, because the water for impurity was not sprinkled upon him. He s14 This is the law when a man dies in a tent: everyone who comes into the tent, and everyone who is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.15 And every open vessel, which has no covering bound upon it, is unclean.16 And whoever in the open field touches a man who is slain with a sword, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.17 And for the unclean they shall take of the ashes of the burning of the sin-offering, and running water shall be put with that in a vessel.18 And a clean man shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the souls who were there, and upon him who touched the bone, or the slain, or the dead, or the grave.19 And the clean man shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day. And on the seventh day he shall purify him. And he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at evening.20 But the man who shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he has defiled the sanctuary of LORD. The water for impurity has not been sprinkled upon him; he is21 And it shall be a perpetual statute to them. And he who sprinkles the water for impurity shall wash his clothes, and he who touches the water for impurity shall be unclean until evening.22 And whatever the unclean man touches shall be unclean, and the soul who touches it shall be unclean until evening.
