Ezequiel 21

Babilônia, a espada do juízo divino

1 Esta palavra do Senhor veio a mim:

2 — Filho do homem, vire o seu rosto contra Jerusalém e pregue contra o santuário. Profetize contra a terra de Israel, 3 dizendo-lhe: "Assim diz o Senhor: ‘Estou contra você. Empunharei a minha espada para eliminar do seu meio tanto o justo quanto o ímpio. 4 Uma vez que eu vou eliminar o justo e o ímpio, empunharei a minha espada contra todos, desde o Neguebe até o norte. 5 Então, todos saberão que eu, o Senhor, tirei a espada da bainha e não tornarei a guardá-la’ ".

6 — Portanto, comece a gemer, filho do homem! Comece a gemer diante deles com o coração partido e amarga tristeza. 7 E, quando perguntarem: "Por que você está gemendo?", diga: "Por causa das notícias que estão vindo. Todo coração se derreterá, e toda mão penderá frouxa; todo espírito desmaiará, e todo joelho se desfará em água. Veja! Está vindo e acontecerá, declara o Soberano Senhor".

8 Esta palavra do Senhor veio a mim:

9 — Filho do homem, profetize e diga que assim diz o Senhor:

"Uma espada, uma espada,

afiada e polida;

10 afiada para a mortandade,

polida para luzir como relâmpago!

"Acaso nos alegraremos? O cetro do meu filho rejeita qualquer outra madeira.

11 "A espada foi destinada a ser polida,

a ser pega com as mãos;

está afiada e polida,

preparada para que a mão do matador a maneje.

12 Clame e grite, filho do homem,

pois ela está contra o meu povo;

está contra todos os príncipes de Israel.

Eles e o meu povo são atirados contra a espada.

Portanto, lamente-se; bata na sua coxa.*21.12 Gesto que expressa dor e lamento. Veja Jr 31.19.

13 "É certo que a prova virá. E o que acontecerá se o cetro, que a espada despreza, não continuar a existir? Declara o Soberano Senhor.

14 "Por isso, profetize, então, filho do homem,

e bata as mãos uma na outra.

Que a espada golpeie não duas,

mas três vezes.

É uma espada para matança,

para grande matança;

ela avança sobre eles de todos os lados.

15 Assim, para que os corações se enfraqueçam

e muitos sejam os caídos,

coloquei a espada para a matança

em todas as suas portas.

Ah! Ela foi feita para luzir como relâmpago;

é empunhada firmemente para a matança.

16 Ó espada, seja afiada! Vai para a direita e para a esquerda,

para onde quer que se dirija a sua lâmina.

17 Eu também baterei as minhas mãos uma na outra,

e a minha ira diminuirá.

Eu, o Senhor, falei".

18 A palavra do Senhor veio a mim:

19 — Quanto a você, filho do homem, trace as duas estradas que a espada do rei da Babilônia deve seguir, as duas partindo da mesma terra. Em cada uma delas, coloque um marco indicando o rumo de uma cidade. 20 Trace uma estrada que leve a espada contra Rabá dos amonitas, e a outra contra Judá e contra a Jerusalém fortificada. 21 Pois o rei da Babilônia parará no local de onde partem as duas estradas para praticar adivinhação. Ele lançará a sorte com flechas,*21.21 Hebraico: ele sacudirá com as flechas; referência a uma prática de adivinhação. consultará os ídolos da família, examinará o fígado. 22 Pela sua mão direita, será sorteada Jerusalém, onde deverá preparar aríetes, dar ordens para a matança, soar o grito de guerra, montar aríetes contra as portas, construir uma rampa e obras de cerco. 23 Isso parecerá um falso presságio aos judeus, que tinham feito uma aliança com juramento, mas o rei invasor os fará recordar a sua culpa e os levará prisioneiros.

24 — Portanto, assim diz o Soberano Senhor: "Visto que vocês trouxeram à lembrança a sua iniquidade mediante rebelião ostensiva, revelando os seus pecados em tudo o que fazem, vão ser levados prisioneiros.

25 "Ó profano e ímpio príncipe de Israel, o seu dia chegou, o tempo em que a iniquidade terá fim, 26 e assim diz o Soberano Senhor: ‘Tire o turbante e a coroa. Não será como antes — os humildes serão exaltados, e os exaltados serão humilhados. 27 Ruína! Ruína! Eu farei dela uma ruína! Não será restaurada, enquanto não vier aquele a quem ela pertence por direito; eu a darei a ele’ ".

28 — E você, filho do homem, profetize e diga que assim diz o Soberano Senhor acerca dos amonitas e dos seus insultos:

"Uma espada, uma espada,

desembainhada para a matança,

polida para consumir

e luzir como relâmpago!

29 A despeito das visões falsas

e das adivinhações mentirosas sobre vocês,

ela será posta no pescoço

dos ímpios que devem ser mortos

e cujo dia chegou;

o tempo em que a iniquidade terá fim.

30 "Volte a espada à sua bainha.

No lugar onde vocês foram criados,

na terra dos seus antepassados,*21.30 Hebraico: na terra das suas origens.

eu os julgarei.

31 Derramarei a minha ira sobre vocês,

soprarei o fogo do meu furor contra vocês;

eu os entregarei nas mãos de homens brutais,

hábeis na arte da destruição.

32 Vocês serão combustível para o fogo,

o seu sangue será derramado na sua terra

e vocês não serão mais lembrados;

porque eu, o Senhor, falei".

1 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and drop thy word toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel; 3 and say to the land of Israel, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked. 4 Seeing then that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north: 5 and all flesh shall know that I, Jehovah, have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath; it shall not return any more. 6 Sigh therefore, thou son of man; with the breaking of thy loins and with bitterness shalt thou sigh before their eyes. 7 And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt say, Because of the tidings, for it cometh; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and it shall be done, saith the Lord Jehovah.

8 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 9 Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith Jehovah: Say, A sword, a sword, it is sharpened, and also furbished; 10 it is sharpened that it may make a slaughter; it is furbished that it may be as lightning: shall we then make mirth? the rod of my son, it contemneth every tree. 11 And it is given to be furbished, that it may be handled: the sword, it is sharpened, yea, it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer. 12 Cry and wail, son of man; for it is upon my people, it is upon all the princes of Israel: they are delivered over to the sword with my people; smite therefore upon thy thigh. 13 For there is a trial; and what if even the rod that contemneth shall be no more? saith the Lord Jehovah. 14 Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thy hands together; and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the deadly wounded: it is the sword of the great one that is deadly wounded, which entereth into their chambers. 15 I have set the threatening sword against all their gates, that their heart may melt, and their stumblings be multiplied: ah! it is made as lightning, it is pointed for slaughter. 16 Gather thee together, go to the right, set thyself in array, go to the left, whithersoever thy face is set. 17 I will also smite my hands together, and I will cause my wrath to rest: I, Jehovah, have spoken it.

18 The word of Jehovah came unto me again, saying, 19 Also, thou son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come; they twain shall come forth out of one land: and mark out a place, mark it out at the head of the way to the city. 20 Thou shalt appoint a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah in Jerusalem the fortified. 21 For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he shook the arrows to and fro, he consulted the teraphim, he looked in the liver. 22 In his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to set battering rams, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, to cast up mounds, to build forts. 23 And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, who have sworn oaths unto them; but he bringeth iniquity to remembrance, that they may be taken.

24 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand. 25 And thou, O deadly wounded wicked one, the prince of Israel, whose day is come, in the time of the iniquity of the end, 26 thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Remove the mitre, and take off the crown; this shall be no more the same; exalt that which is low, and abase that which is high. 27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn it: this also shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.

28 And thou, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and say thou, A sword, a sword is drawn, for the slaughter it is furbished, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning; 29 while they see for thee false visions, while they divine lies unto thee, to lay thee upon the necks of the wicked that are deadly wounded, whose day is come in the time of the iniquity of the end. 30 Cause it to return into its sheath. In the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy birth, will I judge thee. 31 And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee; I will blow upon thee with the fire of my wrath; and I will deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, skilful to destroy. 32 Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I, Jehovah, have spoken it.
