Malaquias 2

Juízo contra os sacerdotes

1 — Agora, este mandamento é para vocês, ó sacerdotes. 2 Se não derem ouvidos e não se dispuserem a honrar o meu nome — diz o Senhor dos Exércitos —, lançarei a maldição sobre vocês e até as suas bênçãos amaldiçoarei. Aliás, já as amaldiçoei, porque vocês não me honram de coração.

3 — Por causa de vocês, repreenderei a sua descendência.*2.3 Ou destruirei o seu trigo. Esfregarei na cara de vocês os excrementos dos animais oferecidos em sacrifício nas suas festas e lançarei vocês fora com os excrementos. 4 Então, saberão que fui eu que dei a vocês este mandamento, para que a minha aliança com Levi fosse mantida — diz o Senhor dos Exércitos. 5 — A minha aliança com ele foi uma aliança de vida e paz, que, na verdade, lhe dei para que me temesse. Ele me temeu e tremeu diante do meu nome. 6 A verdadeira lei estava na sua boca, e nenhuma falsidade achou-se nos seus lábios. Ele andou comigo em paz e retidão e desviou muitos do pecado.

7 — Os lábios do sacerdote devem guardar o conhecimento, e da sua boca todos buscam a instrução, porque ele é o mensageiro do Senhor dos Exércitos. 8 Mas vocês se desviaram do caminho e, pelo seu ensino, causaram o tropeço de muita gente; vocês quebraram a aliança de Levi — diz o Senhor dos Exércitos. 9 — Por isso, eu fiz que fossem desprezados e humilhados diante de todo o povo, porque vocês não seguem os meus caminhos, mas são parciais quando ensinam*2.9 Ou aplicam. a lei.*2.9 Hebraico: mas levantam a face contra a lei.

A infidelidade de Judá

10 Não temos todos um único Pai?*2.10 Ou pai. Não fomos todos criados por um único Deus? Por que, então, quebramos a aliança dos nossos antepassados sendo infiéis uns aos outros?

11 Judá tem sido infiel. Uma coisa detestável foi cometida em Israel e em Jerusalém. Judá desonrou o santuário que o Senhor ama, casando-se com mulheres que adoram deuses estrangeiros.

12 Que o Senhor remova das tendas de Jacó o homem que faz isso, seja ele quem for, mesmo que esteja trazendo ofertas ao Senhor dos Exércitos.

13 Há outra coisa que vocês fazem: enchem de lágrimas o altar do Senhor; choram e gemem porque ele já não dá atenção às suas ofertas nem as aceita das suas mãos com prazer. 14 E vocês ainda perguntam: "Por quê?". É porque o Senhor é testemunha entre você e a mulher da sua mocidade, pois você foi infiel a ela, embora ela fosse a sua companheira, a mulher da sua aliança matrimonial.

15 Acaso Deus não os fez um, com uma porção do espírito que lhe pertence? E o que o único Deus deseja? Uma descendência dedicada a Deus.*2.15 O significado da primeira parte do versículo em hebraico é incerto. Portanto, tenham cuidado*2.15 Hebraico: guardem-se no espírito de vocês; também no versículo 16. para que ninguém seja infiel à mulher da sua mocidade. 16 "Eu odeio o divórcio", diz o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, "e também odeio o homem que se cobre de violência*2.16 Ou cobre a sua mulher de violência. como se cobre de roupas", diz o Senhor dos Exércitos. Por isso, tenham cuidado; não sejam infiéis.

O dia do julgamento

17 Vocês têm cansado o Senhor com as suas palavras.

"Como o temos cansado?", ainda perguntam.

Quando dizem: "Todos os que fazem o mal são bons aos olhos do Senhor, e ele se agrada deles", bem como quando perguntam: "Onde está o Deus da justiça?".

10 Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

11 Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.*2.11 loved: or, ought to love 12 The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the LORD of hosts.*2.12 the master…: or, him that waketh, and him that answereth 13 And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand.

14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. 15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed.
