Malaquias 4

O dia do Senhor

* 4.0 No texto hebraico, 4.1-6 corresponde a 3.19-24. 1 — Pois certamente vem o dia, ardente como uma fornalha. Todos os arrogantes e todos os malfeitores serão como palha, e aquele dia, que está chegando, ateará fogo neles — diz o Senhor dos Exércitos. — Não sobrará raiz ou galho algum para eles. 2 Mas, para vocês que temem o meu nome, o sol da justiça se levantará trazendo cura nas suas asas. E vocês sairão e saltarão como bezerros bem alimentados. 3 Depois, esmagarão os ímpios, que serão como pó sob as solas dos seus pés, no dia em que eu agir — diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.

4 — Lembrem-se da lei de Moisés, meu servo, dos estatutos e das ordenanças que lhe dei em Horebe para todo o povo de Israel.

5 — Vejam, eu enviarei a vocês o profeta Elias antes que venha o grande e temível dia do Senhor. 6 Ele fará que o coração dos pais se volte para os seus filhos, e o coração dos filhos, para os seus pais; do contrário, eu virei e castigarei a terra separando-a para destruição.*4.6 O termo hebraico indica um ato de consagração irrevogável a Deus, geralmente por meio da destruição de um objeto ou de seres vivos.

1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.

4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
