Provérbios 15

1 A resposta calma desvia a fúria,

mas a palavra ríspida desperta a ira.

2 A língua dos sábios torna atraente o conhecimento,

mas a boca dos tolos derrama insensatez.

3 Os olhos do Senhor estão em toda parte,

observando atentamente os maus e os bons.

4 A língua conciliadora é árvore de vida,

mas a perversa esmaga o espírito.

5 O insensato faz pouco caso da instrução do seu pai,

mas quem acolhe a repreensão revela prudência.

6 A casa do justo contém grande tesouro,

mas os rendimentos dos ímpios acabam em desgraça.

7 As palavras dos sábios espalham conhecimento,

mas o coração dos tolos não é assim.

8 O Senhor detesta o sacrifício dos ímpios,

mas tem prazer na oração do justo.

9 O Senhor detesta o caminho dos ímpios,

mas ama quem busca a justiça.

10 O que abandona o caminho terá uma instrução rigorosa,

e quem despreza a repreensão morrerá.

quanto mais o coração dos homens!

12 O zombador não gosta de quem o corrige

nem procura a ajuda do sábio.

13 A alegria do coração transparece no rosto,

mas o coração amargurado abate o espírito.

14 O coração que sabe discernir busca o conhecimento,

mas a boca dos tolos alimenta-se da insensatez.

15 Todos os dias do oprimido são maus,

mas o coração bem-disposto está sempre em festa.

16 É melhor ter pouco com o temor do Senhor

do que grande riqueza com inquietação.

17 É melhor ter verduras na refeição onde há amor

do que um boi engordado com ódio.

18 O homem irritável provoca dissensão,

mas quem é paciente acalma a disputa.

19 O caminho do preguiçoso é como uma cerca viva de espinhos,

mas a vereda do justo é uma estrada plana.

20 O filho sábio dá alegria ao seu pai,

mas o tolo despreza a sua mãe.

21 A insensatez alegra quem não tem juízo,

mas o homem de entendimento procede com retidão.

22 Os planos fracassam por falta de conselho,

mas são bem-sucedidos quando há muitos conselheiros.

23 Dar resposta apropriada é motivo de alegria.

Como é bom um conselho na hora certa!

24 O caminho da vida conduz o sensato para o alto,

para que ele não desça à sepultura.

25 O Senhor derruba a casa do orgulhoso,

mas mantém intactos os limites da propriedade da viúva.

26 Os pensamentos dos maus são detestáveis para o Senhor,

mas as palavras agradáveis são puras.

27 O ganancioso põe a sua família em apuros,

mas quem repudia o suborno viverá.

28 O coração do justo medita antes de responder,

mas a boca dos ímpios jorra o mal.

29 O Senhor está longe dos ímpios,

mas ouve a oração dos justos.

30 Como um olhar radiante alegra o coração,

as boas notícias revigoram os ossos.

31 Quem ouve a repreensão que dá vida

habitará à vontade entre os sábios.

32 Quem recusa a instrução faz pouco caso de si mesmo,

mas quem ouve a repreensão obtém entendimento.

33 A instrução da sabedoria é de temer ao Senhor,*15.33 Ou A sabedoria ensina o temor do Senhor.

e a humildade antecede a honra.

The healing of the tongue 5 A fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent. 6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble. 7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so. 8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. 9 The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness. 10 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.*15.10 Correction: or, Instruction 11 Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? 12 A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise. 13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. 14 The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness. 15 All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
