Daniel 12

Os tempos do fim

1 — Naquela ocasião, Miguel, o grande príncipe que protege o seu povo, se levantará. Haverá um tempo de angústia como nunca houve desde o início das nações até então. Contudo, naquela ocasião, o seu povo, todo aquele cujo nome está escrito no livro, será liberto. 2 Multidões que dormem no pó da terra acordarão: uns para a vida eterna; outros, porém, para a vergonha e a repugnância eternas. 3 Aqueles que são sábios reluzirão como o fulgor do firmamento, e aqueles que conduzem muitos à justiça serão como as estrelas para todo o sempre. 4 Mas você, Daniel, guarde em segredo as palavras e sele o livro até o tempo do fim. Muitos irão por todo lado em busca de maior conhecimento.

5 Então, eu, Daniel, olhei, e ali diante de mim havia dois outros de pé, cada qual em uma das margens do rio. 6 Um deles disse ao homem vestido de linho, que estava sobre as águas do rio:

— Quanto tempo decorrerá antes que se cumpram estas coisas extraordinárias?

7 O homem vestido de linho, que estava sobre as águas do rio, ergueu para o céu a mão direita e a mão esquerda, e eu o ouvi jurar por aquele que vive para sempre, dizendo:

— Haverá um tempo, tempos*12.7 Ou dois tempos. e metade de um tempo. Quando o poder do povo santo for finalmente quebrado, todas estas coisas se cumprirão.

8 Eu ouvi, mas não compreendi. Por isso, perguntei:

— Meu senhor, qual será o resultado disto tudo?

9 Ele respondeu:

— Siga o seu caminho, Daniel, pois as palavras estão guardadas em segredo e seladas até o tempo do fim. 10 Muitos serão purificados, alvejados e refinados, mas os ímpios continuarão agindo impiamente. Nenhum dos ímpios levará isto em consideração, mas os sábios entenderão.

11 — Depois de abolido o sacrifício diário e estabelecida a abominação desoladora, haverá mil duzentos e noventa dias. 12 Bem-aventurado aquele que esperar e alcançar mil trezentos e trinta e cinco dias.

13 — Quanto a você, siga o seu caminho até o fim. Você descansará e, então, no final dos dias, se levantará para receber a sua herança.

The End Times

1 "At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise*12:3 Or who impart wisdom will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. 4 But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge."

5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank. 6 One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, "How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?"

7 The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, "It will be for a time, times and half a time.*12:7 Or a year, two years and half a year When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed."

8 I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, "My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?"

9 He replied, "Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.

11 "From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.

13 "As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance."
