O Filho é superior aos anjos

1 No passado, Deus falou muitas vezes e de várias maneiras aos nossos antepassados por meio dos profetas, 2 mas, nestes últimos dias, nos falou por meio do Filho, a quem constituiu herdeiro de todas as coisas e por meio de quem fez o universo. 3 O Filho é o resplendor da glória de Deus, a expressão exata do seu ser, e sustenta todas as coisas por sua palavra poderosa. Depois de ter realizado a purificação dos pecados, ele se assentou à direita da Majestade nas alturas, 4 pois é muito superior aos anjos, e o nome que herdou também é superior ao deles.

5 Pois a qual dos anjos Deus alguma vez disse:

"Você é meu Filho;

eu hoje o gerei"?*1.5 Sl 2.7.

E outra vez:

"Eu serei o seu Pai,

e ele será o meu Filho"?*1.5 2Sm 7.14; 1Cr 17.13.

6 Ainda, quando Deus introduz o Primogênito no mundo, diz:

"Todos os anjos de Deus o adorem".

7 Quanto aos anjos, ele diz:

"Ele faz os seus anjos como os ventos,*1.7 Ou Ele faz dos seus anjos espíritos.

e os seus servos, como fogo flamejante".*1.7 Sl 104.4.

8 Contudo, a respeito do Filho, diz:

"O teu trono, ó Deus, subsiste para todo o sempre;

cetro de justiça é o cetro do teu reino.

9 Amas a justiça e odeias a iniquidade;

por isso, Deus, o teu Deus,

te ungiu com óleo de alegria,

acima dos teus companheiros".*1.8,9 Sl 45.6,7.

10 Também diz:

"No princípio, Senhor, firmaste os fundamentos da terra,

e os céus são obras das tuas mãos.

11 Eles perecerão, mas tu permanecerás;

todos eles envelhecerão como vestimentas.

12 O Senhor os enrolará como um manto;

como roupas eles serão trocados.

Tu, porém, permaneces o mesmo,

e os teus anos jamais terão fim".*1.10-12 Sl 102.25-27.

13 A respeito de qual dos anjos Deus alguma vez disse:

"Assente-se à minha direita

até que eu faça dos seus inimigos

um estrado para os seus pés"?*1.13 Sl 110.1.

14 Os anjos não são, todos eles, espíritos ministradores enviados para servir àqueles que hão de herdar a salvação?

God’s Final Word: His Son

1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

The Son Superior to Angels

5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,

"You are my Son;

today I have become your Father"*1:5 Psalm 2:7?

Or again,

"I will be his Father,

and he will be my Son"*1:5 2 Samuel 7:14; 1 Chron. 17:13?

6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says,

"Let all God’s angels worship him."*1:6 Deut. 32:43 (see Dead Sea Scrolls and Septuagint)

7 In speaking of the angels he says,

"He makes his angels spirits,

and his servants flames of fire."*1:7 Psalm 104:4

8 But about the Son he says,

"Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;

a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;

therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions

by anointing you with the oil of joy."*1:9 Psalm 45:6,7

10 He also says,

"In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth,

and the heavens are the work of your hands.

11 They will perish, but you remain;

they will all wear out like a garment.

12 You will roll them up like a robe;

like a garment they will be changed.

But you remain the same,

and your years will never end."*1:12 Psalm 102:25-27

13 To which of the angels did God ever say,

"Sit at my right hand

until I make your enemies

a footstool for your feet"*1:13 Psalm 110:1?

14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
