1 Paulo, Silvano e Timóteo, à igreja dos tessalonicenses, em Deus nosso Pai e no Senhor Jesus Cristo:2 A vocês, graça e paz da parte de Deus Pai e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.3 Irmãos, devemos sempre dar graças a Deus por vocês; e isso é apropriado, porque a fé que vocês têm cresce cada vez mais, e muito aumenta o amor que todos vocês têm uns pelos outros.4 Por esta causa nos gloriamos em vocês entre as igrejas de Deus pela perseverança e fé que mostram em todas as perseguições e tribulações que vocês estão suportando.5 Elas dão prova do justo juízo de Deus, que deseja que vocês sejam considerados dignos do seu Reino, pelo qual vocês também estão sofrendo.6 É justo da parte de Deus retribuir com tribulação aos que lhes causam tribulação,7 e dar alívio a vocês, que estão sendo atribulados, e a nós também. Isso acontecerá quando o Senhor Jesus for revelado lá do céu, com os seus anjos poderosos, em meio a chamas flamejantes.8 Ele punirá os que não conhecem a Deus e os que não obedecem ao evangelho de nosso Senhor Jesus.9 Eles sofrerão a pena de destruição eterna, a separação da presença do Senhor e da majestade do seu poder.10 Isso acontecerá no dia em que ele vier para ser glorificado em seus santos e admirado em todos os que creram, inclusive vocês que creram em nosso testemunho.11 Conscientes disso, oramos constantemente por vocês, para que o nosso Deus os faça dignos da vocação e, com poder, cumpra todo bom propósito e toda obra que procede da fé.12 Assim o nome de nosso Senhor Jesus será glorificado em vocês, e vocês nele, segundo a graça de nosso Deus e do Senhor Jesus Cristo.

1 Paul, Silas, and Timothy: To the Church of the Thessalonians which is in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.2 May grace and peace be granted to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.3 Unceasing thanks are due from us to God on your behalf, brethren. They are appropriate because your faith is growing greatly, and the love of every one of you for all the others goes on increasing.4 It so increases that we ourselves make honourable mention of you among the Churches of God because of your patience and faith amid all your persecutions and amid the afflictions which you are enduring.5 For these are a plain token of God's righteous judgement, which has in view your being deemed worthy of admission to God's Kingdom, for the sake of which, indeed, you are sufferers.6 A plain token of God's righteous judgement, I say, since it is a righteous thing for Him to requite with affliction those who are now afflicting you;7 and to requite with rest you who are suffering affliction now–rest with us at the re-appearing of the Lord Jesus from Heaven, attended by His mighty angels.8 He will come in flames of fire to take vengeance on those who have no knowledge of God, and do not obey the Good News as to Jesus, our Lord.9 They will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, being banished from the presence of the Lord and from His glorious majesty,10 when He comes on that day to be glorified in His people and to be wondered at among all who have believed, including you–because you believed the testimony which we brought for your acceptance.11 It is with this view also that we continually pray to our God for you, asking that He will count you worthy of His call, and by His mighty power fully gratify your every desire for what is truly good and make your work of faith complete;12 in order that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and that you may be glorified in Him–so wonderful is the grace of our God and of the Lord Jesus Christ!
