1 Saiba que nos últimos dias haverá tempos muito difíceis. 2 Porque as pessoas só amarão a si mesmas e ao dinheiro. Serão arrogantes e orgulhosas, zombarão de Deus, desobedecerão a seus pais e serão ingratas e profanas. 3 Não terão afeição nem perdoarão; caluniarão outros e não terão autocontrole. Serão cruéis e odiarão o que é bom, 4 trairão os amigos, serão imprudentes e cheias de si e amarão os prazeres em vez de amar a Deus. 5 Serão religiosas apenas na aparência, mas rejeitarão o poder capaz de lhes dar a verdadeira devoção. Fique longe de gente assim!

6 Entre tais pessoas há aqueles que se infiltram na casa alheia e conquistam a confiança de mulheres vulneráveis, carregadas de pecados e controladas por todo tipo de desejo, 7 mulheres que estão sempre em busca de novos ensinos, mas jamais conseguem entender a verdade. 8 Esses mestres se opõem à verdade, como Janes e Jambres se opuseram a Moisés. Têm a mente depravada, e sua fé não é autêntica. 9 Contudo, não irão muito longe. Um dia, alguém verá como são insensatos, como aconteceu com Janes e Jambres.

10 Mas você sabe muito bem o que eu ensino, como vivo e qual é meu propósito de vida. Conhece minha fé, minha paciência, meu amor e minha perseverança. 11 Sabe quanta perseguição e quanto sofrimento suportei e o que me aconteceu em Antioquia, Icônio e Listra; o Senhor, porém, me livrou de tudo isso. 12 Sim, e todos que desejam ter uma vida de devoção em Cristo Jesus sofrerão perseguições. 13 Mas os perversos e os impostores irão de mal a pior. Enganarão outros e eles próprios serão enganados.

14 Você, porém, deve permanecer fiel àquilo que lhe foi ensinado. Sabe que é a verdade, pois conhece aqueles de quem aprendeu. 15 Desde a infância lhe foram ensinadas as Sagradas Escrituras, que lhe deram sabedoria para receber a salvação que vem pela fé em Cristo Jesus. 16 Toda a Escritura é inspirada por Deus e útil para nos ensinar o que é verdadeiro e para nos fazer perceber o que não está em ordem em nossa vida. Ela nos corrige quando erramos e nos ensina a fazer o que é certo. 17 Deus a usa para preparar e capacitar seu povo para toda boa obra.

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times shall come.2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, not loving what is good,4 traitors, headstrong, having been puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from these people turn away!6 For of these are those [who] creep into houses and captivate gullible women having been loaded down with sins, who are led by various lusts,7 always learning and never being able to come to a full knowledge of the truth.8 And in just the way Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, thus also these resist the truth: men corrupted in mind, disapproved regarding the faith.9 But they shall not advance further, for their folly shall be manifest to all, as also theirs became.10 You however have carefully followed my doctrine, lifestyle, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,11 persecutions, [and ]afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, in Iconium, at Lystra-what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.13 But evil men and impostors shall advance worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you learned them,15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,17 that the man of God may be proficient, having been thoroughly equipped for every good work.
