1 Finalmente, irmãos, pedimos que orem por nós. Orem para que a mensagem do Senhor se espalhe rapidamente e seja honrada por onde quer que vá, como aconteceu quando chegou a vocês. 2 Orem também para que sejamos libertos dos perversos e maus, pois nem todos têm fé.*3.2 Ou pois a fé não é de todos. 3 Mas o Senhor é fiel; ele os fortalecerá e os guardará do maligno.*3.3 Oudo mal. 4 E confiamos no Senhor que vocês estão fazendo e continuarão a fazer aquilo que lhes ordenamos. 5 Que o Senhor conduza o coração de vocês ao amor de Deus e à perseverança que vem de Cristo.

6 E agora, irmãos, nós lhes damos a seguinte ordem em nome de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo: mantenham-se afastados de todos os irmãos que vivem ociosamente e não seguem a tradição que receberam de nós. 7 Pois vocês sabem que devem seguir nosso exemplo. Não ficamos ociosos quando estivemos com vocês, 8 nem nos alimentamos às custas dos outros. Trabalhamos arduamente dia e noite, a fim de não sermos um peso para nenhum de vocês. 9 Embora tivéssemos o direito de pedir que nos alimentassem, queríamos lhes dar o exemplo. 10 Quando ainda estávamos com vocês, lhes ordenamos: "Quem não quiser trabalhar não deve comer".

11 Contudo, soubemos que alguns de vocês estão vivendo ociosamente, recusando-se a trabalhar e intrometendo-se em assuntos alheios. 12 Ordenamos e insistimos em nome do Senhor Jesus Cristo que sosseguem e trabalhem para obter o próprio sustento. 13 Quanto a vocês, irmãos, nunca se cansem de fazer o bem.

14 Observem quem se recusa a obedecer àquilo que lhes digo nesta carta. Afastem-se dele, para que se sinta envergonhado. 15 Não o considerem como inimigo, mas advirtam-no como a um irmão.

16 Que o próprio Senhor da paz lhes dê paz em todos os momentos e situações. Que o Senhor esteja com todos vocês.

17 Aqui está minha saudação de próprio punho: Paulo. Assim faço em todas as minhas cartas para provar que eu mesmo as escrevi.

18 Que a graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo esteja com todos vocês.

1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. 5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; 8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: 9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. 10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. 13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. 14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. 16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.

17 The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
