1 Filhos, obedeçam a seus pais no Senhor, porque isso é o certo a fazer. 2 "Honre seu pai e sua mãe." Esse é o primeiro mandamento com promessa. 3 Se honrar pai e mãe, "tudo lhe irá bem e terá vida longa na terra".

4 Pais, não tratem seus filhos de modo a irritá-los; antes, eduquem-nos com a disciplina e a instrução que vêm do Senhor.

5 Escravos, obedeçam a seus senhores terrenos com respeito e temor. Sirvam com sinceridade, como serviriam a Cristo. 6 Procurem agradá-los sempre, e não apenas quando eles estiverem observando. Como escravos de Cristo, façam a vontade de Deus de todo o coração. 7 Trabalhem com entusiasmo, como se servissem ao Senhor, e não a homens. 8 Lembrem-se de que o Senhor recompensará cada um de nós pelo bem que fizermos, quer sejamos escravos, quer livres.

9 Senhores, assim também tratem seus escravos. Não os ameacem; lembrem-se de que vocês e eles têm o mesmo Senhor no céu, e ele não age com favoritismo.

10 Uma palavra final: Sejam fortes no Senhor e em seu grande poder. 11 Vistam toda a armadura de Deus, para que possam permanecer firmes contra as estratégias do diabo. 12 Pois nós não lutamos contra inimigos de carne e sangue, mas contra governantes e autoridades do mundo invisível, contra grandes poderes neste mundo de trevas e contra espíritos malignos nas esferas celestiais.

13 Portanto, vistam toda a armadura de Deus, para que possam resistir ao inimigo no tempo do mal. Então, depois da batalha, vocês continuarão de pé e firmes. 14 Assim, mantenham sua posição, colocando o cinto da verdade e a couraça da justiça. 15 Como calçados, usem a paz das boas-novas, para que estejam inteiramente preparados. 16 Em todas as situações, levantem o escudo da fé, para deter as flechas de fogo do maligno. 17 Usem a salvação como capacete e empunhem a espada do Espírito, que é a palavra de Deus.

18 Orem no Espírito em todos os momentos e ocasiões. Permaneçam atentos e sejam persistentes em suas orações por todo o povo santo.

19 E orem também por mim. Peçam que Deus me conceda as palavras certas, para que eu possa explicar corajosamente o segredo revelado pelas boas-novas. 20 Agora estou preso em correntes, mas continuo a anunciar essa mensagem como embaixador de Deus. Portanto, orem para que eu siga falando corajosamente em nome dele, como é meu dever.

21 Tíquico lhes dará um relatório completo do que tenho feito e de como tenho passado. Ele é um irmão amado e um colaborador fiel na obra do Senhor. 22 Eu o enviei a vocês com esse propósito, para que saibam como estamos e para animá-los.

23 A paz seja com vocês, irmãos, e que Deus, o Pai, e o Senhor Jesus Cristo lhes deem amor e fidelidade. 24 Que a graça de Deus esteja eternamente sobre todos que amam nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 "Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with a promise: 3 "that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth."

4 You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

5 Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ, 6 not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7 with good will doing service as to the Lord and not to men, 8 knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same good again from the Lord, whether he is bound or free.

9 You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace, 16 above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints. 19 Pray for me, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

21 But that you also may know my affairs, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make known to you all things. 22 I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know our state and that he may comfort your hearts.

23 Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love. Amen.
