1 Nós, Paulo, Silas e Timóteo, escrevemos esta carta à igreja em Tessalônica, a vocês que estão em Deus, nosso Pai, e no Senhor Jesus Cristo.

2 Que Deus, nosso Pai, e o Senhor Jesus Cristo lhes deem graça e paz.

3 Irmãos, não podemos deixar de dar graças a Deus por vocês, pois sua fé tem se desenvolvido cada vez mais, e seu amor uns pelos outros tem crescido. 4 Por isso nos orgulhamos de falar às outras igrejas de Deus sobre sua perseverança e fidelidade em todas as perseguições e aflições que vocês têm sofrido. 5 Deus usará essa perseguição para mostrar que seu julgamento é justo e para torná-los dignos de seu reino, pelo qual estão sofrendo. 6 Em sua justiça, Deus pagará com aflição aqueles que afligem vocês.

7 Deus concederá descanso a vocês, que são afligidos, e também a nós, na revelação do Senhor Jesus, quando ele vier do céu. Virá com seus anjos poderosos, 8 em chamas de fogo, trazendo juízo sobre os que não conhecem a Deus e sobre os que se recusam a obedecer às boas-novas de nosso Senhor Jesus. 9 Eles serão punidos com destruição eterna, separados para sempre da presença do Senhor e de seu glorioso poder. 10 No dia em que ele vier, receberá glória de seu povo santo e louvores de todos os que creem. E isso inclui vocês, pois creram naquilo que lhes dissemos a respeito dele.

11 Assim, continuamos a orar por vocês, pedindo a nosso Deus que os capacite a ter uma vida digna de seu chamado e lhes dê poder para realizar as coisas boas que a fé os motivar a fazer. 12 Então o nome de nosso Senhor Jesus será honrado em vocês, e vocês serão honrados com ele. Tudo isso é possível pela graça de nosso Deus e Senhor, Jesus Cristo.

3 We are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers, even as it is appropriate, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each and every one of you toward one another abounds, 4 so that we ourselves boast about you in the assemblies of God for your perseverance and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which you endure. 5 This is an obvious sign of the righteous judgment of God, to the end that you may be counted worthy of God’s Kingdom, for which you also suffer. 6 For it is a righteous thing with God to repay affliction to those who afflict you, 7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, 8 punishing those who don’t know God, and to those who don’t obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus, 9 who will pay the penalty: eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10 when he comes in that day to be glorified in his saints and to be admired among all those who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.

11 To this end we also pray always for you that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfill every desire of goodness and work of faith with power, 12 that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
