1 Eis aqui outra mensagem do Senhor. 2 "Homem mortal, profetiza assim: Diz o Senhor Deus: Chora, porque aquele terrível dia está quase a chegar! 3 O dia do Senhor, dia de obscuridade, carregado de nuvens, dia de desespero para muitas nações! 4 Uma espada cairá sobre o Egito e grande angústia sobre Cuche, e os mortos cobrirão o chão; levarão para longe as riquezas dessa nação; os seus fundamentos serão destruídos. 5 A terra de Cuche será devastada. Cuche, Pute, Lude, a Arábia e a Líbia, assim como todas as terras que se coligaram com elas, perecerão nessa guerra.

6 Diz o Senhor: Todos os aliados do Egito perecerão e terminará a soberba da sua força. De Migdol até Assuão, todos serão mortos pela guerra, diz o Senhor Deus. 7 Tornar-se-ão desoladas, rodeadas de outras tantas nações desoladas, com as suas cidades em ruínas, rodeadas de outras tantas cidades feitas em escombros. 8 E reconhecerão que eu sou o Senhor, quando tiver posto o Egito a ferro e fogo; e não só o Egito mas até os seus aliados. 9 Por esse tempo, enviarei mensageiros em barcos que levarão o pânico aos cuchitas, que se acham auto-suficientes; grande terror cairá sobre eles, nesse tempo de condenação para o Egito. Tudo isso acontecerá realmente.

10 Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Nabucodonozor rei da Babilónia, destruirá as multidões do Egito. 11 Tanto ele como os seus exércitos, o terror das nações, serão mandados para destruírem a terra. Combaterão e cobrirão o solo de mortos. 12 Farei secar o Nilo e venderei a terra a gente má. Destruirei o Egito e tudo o que nele existe, e serão estrangeiros quem o fará. Sou eu, o Senhor, quem garante isso!

13 Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Esmagarei os ídolos do Egito e as imagens de Menfis; deixará de haver um rei no Egito; será a anarquia absoluta, o desgoverno total! Ali espalharei o terror. 14 Farei com que a região de Patros, no sul do Egito, fique num deserto, e Zoã e Tebes serão assoladas, incendiadas pela minha mão. 15 Derramarei a minha fúria sobre Pelusium, a fortaleza mais inexpugnável do Egito, e exterminarei o povo de Tebes. Sim, atearei fogo ao Egito! 16 Pelusium será torturada pela dor; Tebes será dilacerada; Menfis andará diariamente em terror. 17 Os moços de Heliópolis e de Bubastis morrerão na guerra e as mulheres serão levadas como escravas. 18 Quando eu vier para quebrar o poder do Egito, esse será um dia negro também para Tafnes; uma escura nuvem a cobrirá e as suas filhas serão levadas cativas. 19 Será dessa forma que hei de castigar exemplarmente o Egito. E saberão que eu sou o Senhor!"

20 Um ano mais tarde, no sétimo dia do primeiro mês*30.20 Mês de Abibe ou Nisan. Entre a lua nova do mês de março e o mês de abril., do décimo primeiro ano do cativeiro do rei Jeconias, recebi esta mensagem: 21 "Homem mortal, eu quebrei o braço do Faraó, o rei do Egito, e não o puseram em gesso, não lhe ataram ligaduras para o curar, para que pudesse novamente pegar em armas. 22 Porque o Senhor Deus diz: Eu sou contra o Faraó, o rei do Egito, e partir-lhe-ei ambos os braços, tanto o que ainda estava são, como o que já antes fora quebrado, e a arma que segurava cair-lhe-á no chão. 23 Os egípcios serão deportados para muitas terras. 24 Reforçarei os braços do rei da Babilónia, e colocar-lhe-ei a minha espada nas mãos. Os braços do rei do Egito ficarão, pois, inertes, e ele gemerá na presença do rei da Babilónia como alguém que foi ferido de morte. 25 Fortalecerei as mãos do rei da Babilónia, enquanto os braços do Faraó lhe penderão inúteis ao longo do corpo. Sim, quando colocar a minha espada nas mãos do rei da Babilónia, e ele a fustigar sobre o Egito, este dar-se-á conta de que eu sou o Senhor. 26 Espalharei os egípcios entre as nações; e então saberão que eu sou o Senhor."

Phut*30.5 men: Heb. children 6 Thus saith the LORD; They also that uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: from the tower of Syene shall they fall in it by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.*30.6 from…: or, from Migdol to Syene 7 And they shall be desolate in the midst of the countries that are desolate, and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted. 8 And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and when all her helpers shall be destroyed.*30.8 destroyed: Heb. broken 9 In that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid, and great pain shall come upon them, as in the day of Egypt: for, lo, it cometh. 10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon. 11 He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought to destroy the land: and they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain. 12 And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked: and I will make the land waste, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I the LORD have spoken it.*30.12 dry: Heb. drought*30.12 all…: Heb. the fulness thereof 13 Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also destroy the idols, and I will cause their images to cease out of Noph; and there shall be no more a prince of the land of Egypt: and I will put a fear in the land of Egypt. 14 And I will make Pathros desolate, and will set fire in Zoan, and will execute judgments in No.*30.14 Zoan: or, Tanis 15 And I will pour my fury upon Sin, the strength of Egypt; and I will cut off the multitude of No.*30.15 Sin: or, Pelusium 16 And I will set fire in Egypt: Sin shall have great pain, and No shall be rent asunder, and Noph shall have distresses daily. 17 The young men of Aven and of Pi-beseth shall fall by the sword: and these cities shall go into captivity.*30.17 Aven: or, Heliopolis*30.17 Pi-beseth: or, Pubastum 18 At Tehaphnehes also the day shall be darkened, when I shall break there the yokes of Egypt: and the pomp of her strength shall cease in her: as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.*30.18 darkened: or, restrained 19 Thus will I execute judgments in Egypt: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

20 And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first month, in the seventh day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 21 Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt; and, lo, it shall not be bound up to be healed, to put a roller to bind it, to make it strong to hold the sword. 22 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong, and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand. 23 And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries. 24 And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand: but I will break Pharaoh’s arms, and he shall groan before him with the groanings of a deadly wounded man. 25 But I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall stretch it out upon the land of Egypt. 26 And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them among the countries; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
