1 Deem graças ao Senhor e invoquem o seu nome!

Contem aos povos os seus feitos!

2 Cantem-lhe, cantem-lhe louvores

e contem todas as suas maravilhas!

3 Deem glória ao seu santo nome!

Que rejubilem todos aqueles que buscam o Senhor!

4 Procurem o Senhor! Procurem a sua força

e a sua face continuamente!

5 Lembrem-se dos seus poderosos milagres,

dos seus maravilhosos feitos, dos juízos da sua palavra,

6 vocês os seus servos, descendentes de Abraão,

os descendentes de Jacob, seus eleitos.

7 Ele é o Senhor, nosso Deus;

a sua autoridade é reconhecida em toda a Terra.

8 Ele lembra-se para sempre da sua aliança,

das palavras dos seus mandamentos,

dirigidos a milhares de gerações,

9 do seu acordo feito com Abraão,

do seu juramento feito a Isaque.

10 Foi confirmado a Jacob

e prometido a Israel, como aliança eterna:

11 "Dar-te-ei a terra de Canaã por posse."

12 Ainda eram muito poucos

e simples estrangeiros na terra prometida.

13 Andavam de nação em nação,

de um reino para outro.

14 Deus nem por isso permitiu que alguém lhes fizesse mal;

os reis eram repreendidos por amor deles.

15 "Não façam mal algum ao meu povo escolhido!",

ordenou-lhes Deus.

"Estes são meus profetas, não lhes toquem!"

16 Fez vir um período de fome à terra de Canaã,

privando-a de pão.

17 Deixou que José fosse vendido

como escravo para o Egito.

18 Os egípcios amarraram-lhe os pés com correntes,

puseram-no a ferros.

19 Isto durou até ao momento em que

a palavra do Senhor provou que ele tinha razão.

20 Então o rei mesmo o mandou chamar e soltou-o.

21 Fê-lo responsável por toda a sua casa

e pô-lo como ministro da nação.

22 Podia, como entendesse, exercer a sua autoridade

sobre os grandes senhores do reino,

e até instruir os seus próprios anciãos.

23 Entrou então Israel no Egito,

e Jacob foi viver como estrangeiro na terra de Cam*105.23 Refere-se habitualmente ao Egito, como muitas vezes aparece na Bíblia..

24 Depois disso, o povo multiplicou-se espantosamente,

a ponto de tornar-se uma nação maior do que aquela

no meio da qual vivia e que o ia oprimindo.

25 Deus deixou que os egípcios aborrecessem os israelitas,

profundamente, e os enganassem.

26 Então apareceu Moisés, acompanhado de Aarão,

que Deus escolheu como seu representante.

27 Por seu intermédio fizeram-se prodígios,

fenomenais, na terra de Cam.

28 Deus enviou densas trevas;

mas Moisés e Aarão não foram desobedientes à palavra de Deus.

29 As águas tornaram-se, por toda a parte, em sangue,

e não ficou um só peixe vivo!

30 E houve uma praga de rãs como nunca se viu;

até no palácio e nos aposentos privados do rei!

31 Depois foram enxames de moscas e piolhos,

que encheram o Egito de uma ponta à outra.

32 Até a chuva se tornou, noutra ocasião,

numa saraiva destruidora e raios queimaram a terra.

33 As vinhas e as figueiras foram destruídas;

por todo o lado, as árvores secaram e caíram.

34 À chamada de Deus acorreram bandos imensos

de gafanhotos e nuvens de pulgões.

35 Comeram tudo o que encontraram;

não escapou sequer uma planta, um fruto de árvore!

36 Depois tirou a vida a todo o filho mais velho de cada família egípcia,

aquele que era o orgulho e a alegria de todo o lar dessa terra.

37 Quanto ao seu povo, tirou-os dali com toda a segurança,

carregados de ouro e prata,

sem que houvesse entre eles um só doente.

38 Todo o povo egípcio se alegrou de alívio,

quando os israelitas se foram,

porque se tinham enchido de terror por causa deles.

39 Deus estendeu sobre eles uma nuvem para os proteger,

e de noite era como a luz dum fogo que os alumiava.

40 A certa altura, pediram carne para comer

e o Senhor mandou-lhes codornizes;

alimentou-os com o maná, o pão do céu.

41 Fez com que uma rocha se abrisse

e dela jorasse água em grande abundância,

até formar como que um rio,

através de toda aquela terra desértica e estéril.

42 Porque se lembrou das sagradas promessas

que tinha feito a Abraão, seu fiel servidor.

43 Fez esses que tinha escolhido como povo

entrar cheios de ânimo e alegria na terra prometida.

44 Deu-lhes um território, até ali ocupado por gentes estranhas,

onde comeram, de início, o que outros tinham plantado.

45 Tudo isso foi feito para que viessem a ser fiéis

e obedientes às suas leis e mandamentos.

Louvem o Senhor!

1 O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

2 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.

3 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.

4 Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

5 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

6 O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.

7 He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.

8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;

10 And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

11 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:*105.11 lot: Heb. cord

12 When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.

13 When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;

14 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;

15 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

16 Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.

17 He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:

18 Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:*105.18 he…: Heb. his soul came into iron

19 Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.

20 The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.

21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:*105.21 substance: Heb. possession

22 To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.

23 Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

24 And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.

25 He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.

26 He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.

27 They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.*105.27 his…: Heb. words of his signs

28 He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.

29 He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.

30 Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.

31 He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.

32 He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.*105.32 them…: Heb. their rain hail

33 He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.

34 He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,

35 And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.

36 He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.

37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

38 Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.

39 He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.

40 The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

41 He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.

42 For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.

43 And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:*105.43 gladness: Heb. singing

44 And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;
