1 Louvem o Senhor!

É bom cantar louvores ao nosso Deus!

É agradável e justo louvá-lo!

2 O Senhor restaura Jerusalém

e faz regressar os exilados de Israel.

3 Conforta os que têm o coração quebrantado;

ele cura as suas feridas.

4 Sabe o número exato das estrelas,

chamando todas pelos seus nomes.

5 Por isso, o nosso Senhor é grande!

O seu poder é absoluto!

A sua sabedoria não tem limite!

6 O Senhor dá força aos humildes,

mas abate até ao pó os que praticam o mal.

7 Cantem-lhe cânticos de gratidão!

Cantem louvores ao nosso Deus,

acompanhados de harpa!

8 É por ele que o céu se cobre de nuvens

que se destilam em chuva sobre a terra,

fazendo crescer a erva nos montes.

9 Os animais devem-lhe o seu sustento;

os filhotes dos corvos recebem dele a comida, quando chamam.

10 O Senhor não tem interesse especial

na força do cavalo nem nos músculos do ser humano.

11 Tem alegria, sim, naqueles que o temem

e naqueles que se apoiam na sua bondade.

12 Ó Jerusalém, louva o Senhor!

Louva o teu Deus, ó Sião!

13 Foi ele quem reforçou as trancas das tuas portas,

e deu paz e segurança aos teus habitantes.

14 Trouxe tranquilidade a toda a nação;

encheu os teus celeiros de trigo excelente.

15 Envia as suas ordens à Terra

e a sua palavra corre velozmente por toda a parte.

16 Faz cair a neve, branca como a lã,

e espalha a geada como um manto cristalino.

17 É por ele que o granizo cai sobre a terra

e o frio intenso a que ninguém consegue resistir.

18 Mas depois, pela sua palavra,

o calor vem derreter tudo: neve, gelo, geada.

Os ventos sopram e as águas retomam as torrentes.

19 Ensinou a Jacob as suas leis

e todos os seus regulamentos a Israel.

20 Isso ele não fez com nenhuma outra nação;

os outros povos desconhecem os seus estatutos.

Louvem o Senhor!

1 Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.

2 The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.

4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.

6 The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.

7 Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:

8 Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.

9 He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.

10 He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.

11 The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

12 Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.

13 For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee.

15 He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly.

16 He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.

17 He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?

18 He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.

19 He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.*147.19 his word: Heb. his words

20 He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.
