Salmo de David. Como lembrete para Deus.

1 Senhor, não me castigues na tua severidade,

não me repreendas com ira.

2 As tuas setas me têm ferido,

a tua mão tem pesado sobre mim.

3 Devido à tua cólera, todo o meu corpo está doente.

Não tenho paz e sinto dores contínuas,

por causa dos meus pecados.

4 As minhas culpas me submergem inteiramente.

São como um fardo demasiado pesado para as minhas forças.

5 As minhas feridas estão inflamadas e cheias de pus,

em consequência da minha loucura.

6 Ando encurvado e abatido;

os meus dias estão cheios de angústia e lamentos.

7 Os meus lombos ardem-me;

todo o meu corpo está doente.

8 Estou doente e quebrantado;

gemo de desespero.

9 Senhor, tu conheces as minhas ânsias

e ouves o meu lamento.

10 O meu coração bate apressado, faltam-me as forças;

até a luz dos olhos me vai faltando.

11 Tanto amigos como vizinhos se afastam de mim,

com medo da minha doença.

Até a minha família se mantém à distância.

12 Enquanto isto, os meus inimigos procuram matar-me

e dizem coisas para me estragar a vida;

andam todo o dia a tramar contra mim.

13 Mas eu mantenho-me surdo às suas ameaças;

na frente deles sou como um mudo.

14 Não abro a minha boca; nada tenho a replicar.

15 Porque espero em ti, Senhor;

tu me ouvirás, Senhor, meu Deus.

16 Eu orei: "Não deixes que os meus inimigos se gabem por minha causa,

nem que se alegrem quando escorrego."

17 Estou à beira de cair;

a minha dor acompanha-me constantemente.

18 Confesso os meus pecados;

aflijo-me por causa do mal que fiz.

19 Mas os meus inimigos são fortes e perseguem-me;

odeiam-me sem que lhes dê razão para isso.

20 Eles pagam-me o bem com o mal

e odeiam-me por seguir um caminho reto.

21 Não me deixes, Senhor!

Meu Deus, não te afastes de mim!

22 Vem depressa em meu auxílio!

Socorre-me, ó Senhor, meu Salvador!

A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.

1 O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

2 For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore.

3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.*38.3 rest: Heb. peace, or, health

4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

5 My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.

6 I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.*38.6 troubled: Heb. wried

7 For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.

8 I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.

9 Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not hid from thee.

10 My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.*38.10 is gone…: Heb. is not with me

12 They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long.

13 But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.

14 Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.

15 For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.*38.15 in…: or, thee do I wait for*38.15 hear: or, answer

16 For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.

19 But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied.*38.19 are lively…: Heb. being living, are strong

20 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.

21 Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me.
