1 Os grandes da sociedade sabem o que é a justiça?

Algum de vocês sabe aplicar a imparcialidade?

2 No vosso coração forjam planos de maldade,

abrem as portas à violência e ao suborno.

3 Essa gente já nasceu pecadora;

mentem e agradam-se do erro, desde que nasceram.

4,5 O seu veneno é como o das serpentes.

São como víboras surdas perante o mais hábil encantador.

6 Quebra-lhes os dentes, ó Deus,

Senhor, parte os queixais desses filhos de leões!

7 Desapareçam como água numa terra seca e arenosa;

despedaça as flechas que seguram nas mãos.

8 Sejam como lesmas que se desfazem no lodo;

como os que morrem ao nascer, sem nunca verem o Sol.

9 Deus aniquilará, tanto os velhos como os novos;

ele os destruirá mais depressa que o tempo

que uma panela leva a aquecer sobre brasas de espinheiros.

10 Os justos se alegrarão quando são vingados;

pisarão os campos da gente má que tiver sido castigada.

11 Então todos dirão: "Certamente, os justos são recompensados;

existe um Deus que exerce a justiça na Terra."

8 As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.
