1 Deus é bem conhecido em Judá;

o seu nome tem grande prestígio em Israel.

2 É em Salém (Jerusalém) que está a sua habitação;

a sua morada é no monte Sião.

3 Ali ele destrói as armas de combate do inimigo:

escudos, espadas, arcos e flechas. (Pausa)

4 As montanhas eternas

não podem ser comparadas contigo em glória.

5 Os mais valentes dos nossos adversários

foram despojados;

jazem na terra, no sono da morte.

6 Nenhum dos seus mais valentes combatentes

foi capaz de levantar as mãos contra nós.

Quando os repreendes, ó Deus de Jacob,

os carros de combate e os seus ocupantes caem.

7 Por isso, és grandemente temido.

Quem pode ficar impassível,

quando te exaltas na tua severidade?

8 A tua sentença faz-se ouvir desde os céus;

a terra tremeu e ficou silenciosa diante de ti.

9 Levantaste-te para punir os malfeitores

e para defenderes os aflitos na terra. (Pausa)

10 A cólera dos homens só fará com que sejas louvado;

os que escaparem à tua ira servir-te-ão de adorno.

11 Cumpram os votos que fizerem ao Senhor, vosso Deus;

tragam-lhe presentes, os que vivem perto dele,

pois deve ser respeitado e temido.

12 Ele tem na sua mão a vida,

mesmo a dos homens mais importantes,

e causa espanto até aos reis da Terra.

4 Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.

5 The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.

6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?

8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.

10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

11 Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.*76.11 unto him…: Heb. to fear

12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
